It can be solved but I have to pay more attention to the moves next time.

I absolutely love watching your videos. I got a TBI in 2011 and my ability to process any detailed forms of problem solving, math - or even simple things like trying to figure out the quickest way to put my issues in to a sentence right now - have just gotten progressively worse over the years. I've always had a huge infatuation with these puzzles ever since my grandfather brought me home some when I was a little kid. I'm hoping that at some point I'll be able to buy some puzzles (like these) that require a bunch of steps in the hopes of rehabilitating that part of my brain. Again, thank you so much for always posting content that gives me something to watch when depression hits.

For the double rainbow you should print a second copy in opposite handedness and have the colors go in the opposite order in the other half, like a real double rainbow.

@@BramCohen I had to consult you before making a 12 piece version. But it is much easier to put together two copies of the same puzzle 😁

how does this work? why does adding a piece double the steps rather than adding a fixed amount. can the plates be solved individually?
@Chocomint_Queen5 ай бұрын
To begin a solve on a piece, all pieces above it must be solve. As part of the solve, all pieces above it will be _unsolved_ . This knock-on effect is done by combining mazes with specific geometry to force certain moves. This genre of puzzle is called Binary Puzzles, because they work like a binary counter. So if I have a three-piece puzzle, then the sequence is (notated in binary) (001) Solve the 1st (010) Solve the 2nd, unsolving the 1st (011) Solve the 1st (100) Solve the 3rd, unsolving the 1st & 2nd (101) Solve the 1st (110) Solve the 2nd, unsolving the 1st (111) Solve the 1st Now, if I add a 4th piece in, you can see you start with the three-piece puzzle sequence, but then after the 4th piece unsolves it all, you have to do the entire sequence _again_ (0001) Solve the 1st (0010) Solve the 2nd, unsolving the 1st (0011) Solve the 1st (0100) Solve the 3rd, unsolving the 1st and 2nd (0101) Solve the 1st (0110) Solve the 2nd, unsolving the 1st (0111) Solve the 1st (1000) Solve the 4th, unsolving the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd (1001) Solve the 1st (1010) Solve the 2nd, unsolving the 1st (1011) Solve the 1st (1100) Solve the 3rd, unsolving the 1st and 2nd (1101) Solve the 1st (1110) Solve the 2nd, unsolving the 1st (1111) Solve the 1st Basically, every time you add a new piece to the puzzle, you're forcing the player to solve the entire previous puzzle twice.

@@DarKit-hu7yr I can't say it's my favourite genre, to be sure. Once you've gone past 3 or 4 pieces it's not really a puzzle so much as a fidget toy, the amount of solving vs the amount of busywork puts them squarely in the "endurance test" category. I think Oscar van Deventer's Zigguhooked is probably the easiest example to understand of binary puzzles.
