If the black dust in crosstooth really is iron, i wonder if that affected him. Maybe he can’t handle iron? This is however, a pure, uneducated guess because i know nothing of plant diets other than “sun good.” Maybe iron isn’t good for them? Edit: nevermind you mentioned in another comment that another plant, drosera specifically handled it fine. Idk, im not a botanist. …those are the people that work with plants, right?

Yes, carnivorous plants shouldn't be fertilized with high nutrition fertilizer as it will burn them, and I think the iron in the blood (maybe?) contributed to that

I'm a bit confused with what you're asking in the second comment. Are you asking what caused it to get overfed from the blood? :) High nutrition fertilizers (or soils etc) burn these plants as they are adapted to low nutrition environments so if you give them something that is too strong for them, it affects them. That's why they evolved to catch their food instead of using their roots to get their nutrition. Although people are starting to debate this more recently
