Hey guys,
Today is just an overview of my breastfeeding journey and the struggle i've had. I've decided to pull the plug and just exclusively give the baby formula. I've tried my hardest but unfortunately it wasn't meant to be.

Aw, Mrs Biston you are a loving mum. You feed baby with God's word, feed him with patience, feed him with your motherly care. Despite the ooutright rejection, you are a perfect example of a mother. You are doing the best you can do for your big boy. Love you so much! xx

haven’t started watching the video yet but read the title and had too comment. you’re FAR from a failure as a mother. as little and young as your baby is, you’ve already started teaching him about Jesus, I’ve not seen any parent do that at a stage that early! also, breast feeding isn’t for everyone tbh..when i have children i don’t think that’s where i’ll be heading to. Please remember you’re doing exceedingly great❤️🙏🏾!!

The first 2-3wks are the hardest. Motherhood is hard enough theres no need to call yourself a failure. A happy baby is a fed baby, so stop stressing. You doing a great job 💙❤

I have literally been where you are because my son was exactly the same! I know the heartbreak because I just thought it was gonna be easy and like you, I hadn't even considered formula as being a thing. My son is 6 and it is only really now that I've finally felt peace about the whole situation and I don't want that to be you, this guilt and shame is not from the Lord. After my sad experience with my son, I went on to breastfeed my second child for 2 and a half years. I am now training to be a breastfeeding peer supporter because I want to help other mums that are going through the struggle. As sad as it feels, God can and will use your experience for good. God bless you sis

You’re definitely not a failure! And I can understand wanting to have that connection with baby while breastfeeding. I went through this myself and never imagined that breastfeeding would be such a task!!! It was a struggle but as a mom we have to do what’s best for baby and he’s now eating and growing which is a blessing. I pray you find many other ways to connect and bond with your little one 🙏🏾

I am 7 months into breastfeeding my twin girls. I have been taking breastfeeding cookies and the breastfeeding tea as well. One baby is great with breastfeeding one I give formula top up once or twice a day. Drink loads of water too. You have got this mama. Power pumping may bring in your milk too.

You’re definitely not a failure!! I want to encourage you to keep going w/breastfeeding if you still have the desire to - it’s w/out a doubt one of the hardest things you have to do & it does take a lot from you 🤍 I was just like you after I had my son (10mos ago) - my appetite completely disappeared and I felt like I wasn’t producing enough/quality milk so trying to get him to breastfeed was a struggle as he had no patience. My little one even had a tongue tie so latching was another issue but through perseverance, talks w/my health visitor, consultations w/a lactation expert and the support of my husband I eventually got there w/the whole breastfeeding thing after 6 long weeks of tears (from both me & baby, lol)! Thanks to fenugreek tablets and breastfeeding cookies I got my supply up but in the end I decided to stick to combination feeding re: formula & breastmilk as I hated expressing and would procrastinate to avoid it. A tip that I got from the lactation consultant to encourage baby to breastfeed after he got used to the flow of milk from the bottle was to formula feed him first so he’s calm and then top up w/breastmilk and it worked eventually. Please know that your baby isn’t rejecting you, he loves you dearly and you’re doing great - God is in control and ultimately, do what’s best for you & your little one 🤍

Your absolutely not a failure… please don’t allow the opinion of family members or any others make you feel as though you aren’t doing a good job as a mum. I gave up breastfeeding really early also as my sons appetite didn’t match my milk production. However, my son is 2 now - and intelligent, healthy and beautiful… enjoy your motherhood ❤️

You're doing very well, I had my baby in September this year, my milk didn't come out till 3 days later so I had to do formula. I had to express milk 7 days later, my baby refused to latch on my breast for 2 whole weeks I really struggled first few weeks. My mid wife told me to be patient, Just massage your breast and drink lots of water, it worked for me. Welldone mama🤗

I was happy to hear you say Sadza. I love it too. I was also pregnant and we gave birth at almost the same time, I just want to say Yes things do not always go the way we want but still just know that you got this and you are doing well. People have a certain standard eg normal vaginal birth is the 'Real' way of giving birth, they have a bad perception towards C-Section. Same goes to bottlefeeding and breastfeeding, but we are crossing out all those negative mindsets. Keep well mum.

Well done for all you are doing. Motherhood can be hard but well worth it! There are tons of videos on youtube to help with breastfeeding/pumping exclusively. Try a hakka (using 2 will trick your body into thinking you are feeding twins and produce more milk and use every 2hrs), drink tons of coconut water-you can add to your smoothie, fennel tea (if your baby has gas), eat anything with oats and almond milk or almonds itself. Also you MUST eat well as producing breastmilk makes you exert alot of energy/burn calories. If he doesnt want to breastfeed, try pumping exclusively. But just know FED is BEST. Whether its breastmilk or formula, our babies just need to eat. Many children have been on just formula and they have grown to be healthy children. Don't be too hard of yourself and apply grace when needed...you got this!

Am sure all that its more psychological u are over whelmed by the baby am sure everything is too much for u . U need to take it easy and ask help from your parents if u need some. Ask them to cook for u and u can freeze some of the food and then u can warm it up. If u are stressed your body won't produce milk, u have got your mum she is the best to consult your baby is not been disgusted of the best milk but u are not giving him a chance and don't wear heavy perfumes and antiperspirant on your armpits it might be too heavy for your son.Be careful wat u tell these midwifery they might think u are struggling and they might call social services for u so I hope u know wat u are doing ,consult your mum and your mother in law if u decide to feed to give him formula that your choice as long as he is well feed and happy both of u .Please don't stress yourself.

Excellent advise. My baby is three months old. Having family cook her favourite food helps a lot for appetite and not introducing the bottle (especially a fast/medium flow) helps the baby get accustomed to the sucking they need for the breast. The more you are stimulated, the more milk you make. Stressing about it decreases milk supply, and bare in mind babies suck a lot to actually increase your supply in the beginning.

Not sure about the UK but you can get medication called Motilium, that helped a lot for me (it can only be prescribed as it has side effects). Also stress contributes to you producing less so take it easy every moment you can but all the best with whichever decision you go with

Bra!!! You produced lots of milk. Btw similar happened to me I introduced formula on the 3rd day after birth. And I almost gave up breastfeeding last week however, I have to be patient with my baby and I’m still breastfeeding. Breastfeeding is patience. Your doing great girl and people who have breastfed don’t tell you the real gist. It takes longer to breastfeed. Don’t give up girl. Sometime I give my baby breast milk and 2mins after she’s drinking her formula.

Mom keep on breastfeeding and it will settle your milk supply, the first month is always the most difficult just keep on breastfeeding and drinking at least 2L of water, oatmeal and flaxseed helps as well.sometimes babies refuse the breast if they are introduced to the bottle to early .
