I feel that this show does something no one has ever done before. While we've seen Clark's childhood and him discovering his powers in other TV shows and movies, he masters them very quickly. In the Christopher Reeve movie he had the Fortress of Solitude and his father Jor-El to properly train him. So by the time he came to Metropolis he was already overpowered. We never got the original Superman that was just "faster then a speeding bullet, more powerful than a locomotive and able to leap tall buildings in a single bound." Here, the fact that Clark doesn't speak Kryptonian and cant understand Jor-El changes everything. He's starting from square one, not even as powerful as he usually is. There is no need for him to hold back or be portrayed as a weakling because he CAN be hurt and he CAN be beaten. He doesn't have decades of storing up solar energy to draw from, just a handful of years. And the genius of the show is that Lois is just starting out too. Jimmy is usually the kid sidekick, but here that makes him an equal, not comedy relief. The trio are balanced, and they are all the focus of the show, which is great This is the only review you've posted on the show so far, and now that it's done I like to know what you thought of it.

Maybe because this isn't meant to be compared to what DC gave us in the 90s and early 2000s? Fans having high expectations for everything and expecting anything to hit that type of high note ruins any type of good potential for them. Something doesn't have to be 90s/early 2000s DC level of good to be good. I went in not expecting anything equivalent to the original teen titans or animated justice league and was surprised by how good it is

@@mattsmith7490 it's not a bad thing sure but expecting everything from DC to be on par with the 90s and early 2000s is a close minded mindset that stops any sense of variety DC has bumped out even before the 90s and afterwards if fans want the same thing and vibe again and again. It "fell short" because it wasn't aiming for any high bar in the first place. It's like saying any batman before and after bale sucks in comparison because they aren't bale. The fact the 90s/2000 shows weren't on adult swim back then and were on kid programs is what's shocking. This is something that appeals to people of all ages. Not just kids

Love how cozy this show is, such a breath of fresh air from the usual "Superman but he's eeeeevil" shlock we've been getting. Tomboy Lois and Himbo Clark deserve everything. On the point of the villains, it's obviously very early but among the people at the end we do see Amanda Waller, who is usually the driving force behind the Suicide Squad and other secret government super people projects, as well as a billboard advertising Amazo Tech (Amazo in the comics/cartoons is an advanced AI super robot who can perfectly replicate superpowers), so that could be a hint on where things might be going. Also Lex Luthor is always a safe bet for Superman antagonists

Yeah I'm excited for more of the episodes, but I really do hope each episode does not feel... the same when it comes to all the character interactions. I hope to have more unique individual scenes between characters, especially characters outside of main cast and villains. I want this show to explore more so that each episode can be refreshing like a very good episodic show.

The villain is Livewire and why they seem flat is that they're setting things up, since this version of Deathstroke is closer to Slade (Teen Titan fans will remember) & oddly, Amanda Waller (of Death Squad fame). Livewire is interesting case as this version is probably one of the furthest versions apart from her various appearances that tie into being a form of DJ. Here, she's a low-level thug apart of some gang. Why I'm interested is that they didn't jump to Superman's more notable foes and opted for very low-stakes enemies that play into an aspect that Superman stories have ignored for the past decades since the original DC cartoons of the 90s and early 00s: Clark Kent being a reporter. The fact that they're sliding into an area where we see Lois & Jimmy investigating things means that these villains can be fleshed out through journalism (which is why we see the kids as that's a fucking ancient reference in comics nowadays). I'm happy to see a Superman on the light-hearted side as nowadays, we have plenty of evil Supermen across various properties. This feels a lot closer to what Superman has been (and why he takes damage from electricity funny enough). Superman is suppose to love and protect his city, which often is hard to do in most shows where Superman is disconnected from his community. Having his villains start out as thugs and work his way up the ladder makes sense if they're going to use Clark to actually interact with his surroundings and learn from the perspective of a country boy, which he still clearly shows. Lois I adore, cause for the first time she isn't just a generic reporter girl whose already put together. She's a fucking dork. An adorable dork whose headstrong, but also is still trying to figure things out. Jimmy... Jimmy is definitely the weakest of the three. I get that he's suppose to be out there, but I do feel like he's just serving as a way to slow Clark & Lois' romance more than contribute much at the moment. Hope that changes, but he falls into way too many tropes for his own good as a character. I'm very pleased as this is a Superman that's been needed in a long time. A fresh start that takes the fundamentals of Superman. Will probably see a lot of C-list villains as they have the B-plot explored by Lois & Jimmy to connect and build upon Slade, who I do imagine will change into Deathstroke eventually when he either dies or Superman accidentally causes a major incident that costs Slade parts of his body, opting to keep his mask on such as losing an eye or getting some cybernetics as part of his work with Amanda Waller.

Eh, don't like it at all. The series feels like they're trying to make the characters way too quirky. Not a big fan of the voice acting as well. Dialogue is terrible, and the jokes never land. Also hate how they just decide to race swap Jimmy. Make him have a black friend, cool but why swap out the race of one of the previous characters then? Just make an original character who's black. I genuinely hope that someone out there, some director of any kind does this exact same race swap thing, but for minorities instead. Would love to see a white black panther, in a movie/show, with all the main characters being white, but every other background wakandian being black. That'll show em how stupid this whole thing is. Or even better, make a new movie called Django DE-chained, with Django being a white man, and have him be every black person's white angel. Show these woke people how stupid race swapping is by doing that. But back to the show. Yeah, it's pretty horrible, but not the worst show out there.

I'm honestly really liking it so far. What's wrong with quirky characters? Sorry, but for me there's no such thing as "too quirky". Jimmy has been race-swapped for a good while now. Not sure why your acting like it's a new thing. And they race-swapped Jimmy because it's cheaper and easier than creating a new one. It's kinda a no brainer. It's unfortunately a cheap way to diversify the cast, but we work with what we've got. I honestly think the voice acting is one of the best parts of the show. They do great for actors that aren't full on voice actors. Especially when it comes to Lois. Nah, race-swapping characters who are already minorities would be pretty dumb and pointless. Especially characters like Black Panther, who's race is pretty integral to his backstory. Maybe if it involved him adopting a white child and said child proving they can become the next BP. But simply race-swapping him? Nope, it would be a dumb move that wouldn't make sense.

The point is to make it over the top, by whatever means necessary, to show how race swapping is bad. For the voice acting, personally it just sounds cringe. I've heard better voice acting from DC animated properties, and this is by far the worst I've ever heard from them. Oh yeah, to add on to this, Lois is just a carbon copy of Luz from the owl house.
