I have 21 emotional sucking I mean support actual chickens. Actually they are hubby’s babies. I have folks give me stuffed plush chickens so I’m more inclined to crochet anything BUT chickens. Have fun!

We had so many knit and crochet chickens at the county fair that everyone who walked into the textile exhibition area just started laughing. One of my knitting guild friends has made more than 20 this year. I have a sock weight one I need to seam and add a wattle and comb to mostly because I wanted to see what the fuss was about. I substituted German shirt rows, though. Y’all are all crazy using wrap and turn.

I did 3 in total of this pattern. My sock yarn one still needs the comb and wattle. Those tiny little details really make a difference. I went to Tangled Ball (yarn store in Colorado) and they really played up the chickens this year. They had a large coop and so many chickens on display, it had to be like your fair display. It was so cute

Just don’t overthink it! I love my ESC. And keep saying I’m going to make her a friend but haven’t started in it yet. They turn out pretty nice matter the color placement! Best not to stress about it, it’ll turn out cute no matter what. Also just pull out a little bit of yarn regardless if it’s the same type of yarn or not! 💜 we all need good distractions every now and then! And chickens are wonderful distractions!

I warned you. I have made 2 using Caron latte cakes. You don’t have to change colors because the yarn does that. Plus they are fluffy! In total I have made 4 with one on the needles.

Use white or cream for your stripes & contrasting color on tail. That would pop and be really pretty. I am just about done with my first one... Grey with a pink/purple/white variegated. I used red glitter yarn for the wattle & comb. Can't wait to finish her, as I've got a few more in the pipeline for Xmas gifts. Instead of this being the Christmas of Hats, it looks like it's the Christmas of Chickens...

I bought the crochet pattern. I'm so confused on the tail. Section 2 says sc 5, ch 12, turn, SC in each to end, turn (22) 5+12=17 not 22 🤷‍♀️

Ok, I get it. On row 7, section 1 you crochet back 11 of the 17 stitches per the row ( you have 6 left). On row 12 you crochet 5, chain 12 then turn. Working in 2nd chain back. (11 for chain, 5 stitches + the original 6 stitches you hadn’t worked) you should be at the full end of the row. (Email me if still confused)

I ended up knitting 3 Emotional Support Chickens. I got the crochet pattern but haven’t crocheted one yet. Either knit or crochet you can definitely use worsted/Aran yarn (pattern calls for it) and an F hook
