The same goes for makeup products also. Kylie Jenner DOES NOT manufacture her products.She has a company that produces products with her logo on it. You can do the same thing.She just sold her brand for $600 MILLION DOLLARS. You could be next.

Honestly, many of these standards tend to only apply to Koreans- I think also if you're in the public eye, you face more pressure. But if you're a foreign person visiting, these standards generally won't apply to you :) I think Koreans do have a tendency to talk about weight often though 'ah you're so slim!' ' you've gained/ lost weight!', so if you're sensitive to that just be wary

If my friends said "eww what you look like, you don't fit in"... they are not my friends. My friends don't have to love my look but if they feel embarrassed for me in public, i will just say bye bye and spend my time alone. Always feeling the need to follow the trend, tells you much about a persons personality... which means they don't have enough confidence to do what they like or look how they want. Going on with it, won't help here. Break the cycle, even when you walk alone.

I feel so sad for the students. My daughter goes to a boarding school and they wear uniforms as well..but they had different options for tops and bottoms.. I encourage individual expression so I provided her with all the different options they had..sadly other student’s parents did not. She did stand out but her friends don’t care what she wears..they care about who she is as a person..they lift each other up..If someone doesn’t want to hangout with you because you wear something different then they aren’t your true friends because that is very shallow.
@math74982 жыл бұрын
For a mother it is respectable belief that you want your daughter to be able to express herself but in my opinion the school uniform is a good thing for a lot of reasons, in particular it erases the differences of social class between the students. I grew up in Paris and we don't wear uniforms but being in a private school most young girls were self-conscious when they couldn't afford the luxury brands other schoolgirls wore. At least with the uniform everyone is at the same level and no one exposes their socio-economic background and this also helps to avoid school bullying
@lisaelisa47722 жыл бұрын

I just find this really stupid tbh

I lived in Korea 2 years ago. It’s only free size if you shop at flea markets or underground subway shops which are basically underground flea markets. They do not sell any actual brands and those clothes are super cheap. If you go to any mall in Korea or shop popular Korean or foreign brands online, they have all the sizes. So this is definitely not true. I did have a problem with buying shoes. I’m 8.5 US or 39 EU and I rarely ever found shoes in my size. Sometimes the entire shoe store would only carry like 2 shoe models in that size or none at all.

Me being me (again messing up) saying to them "Man you shouldn't be comparing yourself to them idols they're like on TV 24/7 so ofc they'd gonna look that way. The pressure on them is so much they have to appear all perfect like. Something we really don't have to do since we're just your bunch of everyday people" they really snapped out on me Imao.

Please don't hate me for saying this, but I don't think "body positivity" is that good either to be honest. I think we have a bit of a similar problem in Australia. People start considering you to be fat when you get to about a size 12 or 14 (size M). Most stores only carry clothes up to a size 16 or maybe 18 if you're lucky (size L)and . If you're that size or larger you are stuck going to speciality stores, online, or places like kmart or target which don't tend to sell anything trendy. Honestly though, I've never heard anyone complain about this before because most young people I know are a size S, and then when they get older they stop caring about what they wear

That sounds so, so frustrating. Here in Europe too, we have *some* one-size-fits-all clothing, especially in the cheap Asian stores. It is annoying because I haven't been able to fit into those clothes since high school, but at least we have options here. The pressure for everyone to be thin, to the point where you wearing a size XS still feel fat, is just insane, and needs to stop. But that only feels like a symptom. I am glad that body positivity is becoming a thing in Korea too. On the other hand, it sounds like the root of all of this is fast fashion. The fact that trends change so fast, and you always have to keep up with them, always buy the newest design, to the point where brands don't have the time and funds to manufacture different sizes, that's so crazy. Diversity of body shapes and sizes is natural (even without going to the extremes), and brands could make more money on the long term if they made different sized clothing. It all just sounds stupid. (Not even talking about how detrimental fast fashion is to the environment and the workers in the fashion industry.)

i'm a total outsider but from what i can gather from videos like this and articles, discussions with Korean friends, etc. is that there's a major sustainability issue at the center of these topics,, like, for an independent designer, how is it sustainable to create a gazillion patterns offered in one size for every season?? the money might come in more quickly at first, but then quality gets compromised and the market gets oversaturated, so people end up forgetting about the new indie piece they got, throw it out and get something new again, there's 0 brand loyalty (which you see with high fashion brands), independent designers end up folding their business because they can't keep up, and the cycle continues.... and then with the intense dysmorphic view on beauty and body types, how is it actually sustainable for a person to live a long, healthy life if they constantly put their minds and bodies through high stress that comes with over-dieting and self-punishment?? skincare goes through trends as well, but it's odd to me how the approach to having a tried and true routine to ensure skin looks and feels healthy (cleansing! moisturizing! high spf in sunscreens + lip products + hand creams!) doesn't apply to the rest of Korea's approach to mental and physical health, and to their consumption habits of clothes/accessories/foods it's like shooting yourself in the foot, there's no long-term benefits for society as a whole to keep going in this way, especially one that has so much access to information and knowledge with one of the fastest internet speeds on the planet!!!! this can be said for most, if not all, rich countries of course, but again the idea of true sustainability seems to be slow-coming in the general Korean consciousness

I find it’s best to pick friends who are bigger than me! Or just keep taking them to restaurants and cake shops 🤣 Just to be sure 😜 but seriously, there must be a good market for Koreans who aren’t the size and shape of a child! They might not post much on Insta but I bet they would like access to brands making cool clothes that actually fit?

And even if you're slim enough to fit inside, you might be taller, so the clothes are still too small.

Hello, Your info about South Korea is somewhat coming from a narrow viewpoint. If you are looking for cheap clothing, Dec there is only one size. Even in the USA, there is the same. Some stores have lots of options. I hope some people don't get the wrong idea about South Korea and culture.

Lets not forget the color options. Like not everyone likes black but korea really just provides little whatever, forcing people to just choose whats "trendy" when in reality as consumers we can only buy whats being provided and or forced to pay extra from other stores just to maintain a style you like. Ah yes capitalism
