They have said they aren’t willing to remake or remaster it because there hasn’t been a significant upgrade in quality with PS from when the game was originally made. So until the PS6 comes out there won’t be a remake or remaster because there honestly isn’t much to adjust. It may not look as polished as demon souls but it’s still much much higher quality than the original demon souls and still looks fantastic

Fun fact, This games ng+ is the hardest in the series, all the enemies do way more damage, dont think youd be intreasted in seeing that buuut, you did miss quite a bit of content in this game. If you ever decide to do a 100% playthrough a ng+ run would be quite the challange on demon's souls for a melee only character

Ye, it was really good. I kinda udnerstand DS1 and 2 not upping it as much, being less gimmicky and also having new enemies (DS1 require Gravelord Covenant) but cant figure out if theres anything new or if stats were improved for DS3

Bosses are not bad. Bosses are different. Demon's Souls's bosses are puzzles, just like bosses in most Zelda games. There is a Great Club in the Leechemonger arena. Why? Because with fire, this is its weakness. You use the Meat Cleaver for the boss. And how do you get the Meat Cleaver? With a Club, or a Great Club, for example. You need to stop thinking the bosses are Dark Souls 3 bosses. They are puzzle-oriented bosses, Zelda-like bosses. And just like most puzzles, you need to find the solution, or the gimmick. Different doesn't mean bad.

I get your point but most people playing this game don’t want puzzle bosses they want actual fights and the player doesn’t expect mostly puzzle bosses it’s just very out of place for the series

4chon was crazy about the game back in the day. There were endless posts, memes, comics, fanart about it. I played it much, much later, after I had played DS and DS2; and it truly is fantastic. Not sure what this youtuber is on about.

@@lobstrosity7163 Most likely this KZbinr & others with similar views started with newer games like DS3 or Elden Ring which require VERY different strategies to beat them effectively. DS3 & Elden Ring you can R1 spam a lot of emeries. In Demon Souls you were on the receiving end of the spams IF you just ran into every fight without a thought. Demon Souls is more like the Kingsfield games in that thinking outside the box & planning ahead was more important then levelling or upgrading stats & gear.

Status and damage type matter in this. In the mine spears are good, swords bad. Fire kills disease, so use fire here. If you use a mace or fists against skeletons you smash bones.

@@DanTheReaperMann The remake lost alot of what made the original, well, original. A lot of the sound effects were swapped out for the new gen shitty movie-esk "hyper realistic" sounds (like magic casting sounds like I'm firing a star wars laser or how every slam sound effect from the Flamlurker has that unnecessary reverb). There's also the reorchestration that loses alot of the pitching and tone that the original had. The original was alot sharper and had specific motifs that were distinguished and recognizable. They were intended to compliment the scene, area, fight, and overall story tone. That's a Fromsoft staple. While the new orchestration is too grandiose and doesn't express those qualities I mentioned that original nailed. It just isn't satisfying audio wise at all. Pair that with the new engine that priorizes heavy visual effects rather than making sure the game feels mechanically sound and it active becomes a lesser product between the two. The difference in quality couldn't be more apparenent. Bluepoint tried to make Demon Souls as a Bluepoint game and the remake is the medicore product of that line of thinking. Once again I cannot mention enough how bad the Remake plays compared Demon Souls and the rest of Soulsborne. It feels needlessly bloated making many fights feel like ass.

I played DeS and DeSR about two months ago, back to back, and it's night and day in many aspects. Look at my response to DanTheReaperMann to get a gist of my thoughts

As someone who never played the original (because it was so fkn hard to find a physical copy in my country back in the ps3 era, along with a copy of OG ds1 and 2... and no, I don't buy digital games at all) and having recently played the ps5 version, it was an absolutely GREAT game, not a fan of the herb system tbh (even though at some point you can buy a lot of them and forget about it for the rest of the playthrough), and a lot of the bosses felt super super easy because I already have the experience on me of every single other fromsoft game in my back, but I really enjoyed it

The experience wasn't the major thing that got you through the bosses, it was the fact that most bosses are a bit mundane and have a small amount of attacks/combos due to DS being the first game in the series, meaning they hadn't perfected the formula

​@@CollectorDuckFor what it's worth both DeS and DS2 are among my favorite games ever. I put both above DS3 and Bloodborne (by a hair) if we're talking sheer fun. Only Elden Ring, DS and Sekiro are better imo. And of those three Sekiro is my favorite. DS2 enjoyers shouldn't be lumped together.

The only good things anyone ever has to say about DeS is aTmOspHerE and OST. DS2 is a meme to hate; DeS is a genuinely bad game. I'm not saying you can't have fun with it, you're allowed to enjoy bad things.
