The reason why tommy kept capitulating even tho he owned the VPs is that he kept taking casualties, which lowers war support, which makes you more likely to capitulate. Even tho it seems random, there might be a casualty limit before he gets annexed.

It was cool to see Tommy referencing that strategy as he completed the achievement. Based on his VOD complete video of the run, I'm not sure he's 100% convinced that the strategy is perfect. Tommy...it's not that hard. I did this second try with limited experience. You have to understand a lot of the BBA nations are really influenced by events and Balance of Power, affecting war support and other buffs, which I why you are having issues and each game is different. The best start with Ethiopia, regardless of path, is not to pull back TOO much. Defend the South as long as you can, while holding the north as far up as you can, that way you can still hold key cities and your airport. You will eventually lose them but by that time the escalation system will have given you enough buffs to be able to handle it. It's pretty much that your rushing Tommy, you can't really rush with the new Ethiopia.

Yeah I have 2k hours (a lot but nothing compared to Tommy) and I did it like second or third try. Edit: Also you can always rush northern thrust early if you really need it and are struggling.

I remember when I had 98% achievements done. I was going to 100% and then a DLC got released then another then another. It started piling up and I couldn't keep up with my studies then I started working plus I have other games to play. It's now at 52% only lol with so many DLCs that have come out since then. I have never recovered.
