Intro is a 10/10 😂 I like what you said about playing Fifa. You wanted to play that game just because you enjoy football. Playing a video game because of your love for gaming, not for chasing trophies, can always help to alleviate the burnout. Regularly, I’ll make sure to play games that I enjoy, not because of the platinum, but simply to relax while gaming.

I apprechiate the subtitles but the implementation gives me a headache. (I had to block them with my hand to watch the video.) The content of the video is pretty good. I enjoyed listening to your story. I can relate. I had a trophy burnout in 2020. To tackle the problem: I don’t give a shit about completion rate. I never really did but for some reason I stopped trying out games. So, I now pick up games and try them again. So refreshing. And sometimes I find a game that really surprises me and gives me that feeling of excitement of a young kid that just found a perfect game. Of course, not every Platinum has to be easy but playing a lot of different games (in and out of the own comfort zone) helps a lot in my opinion. And with a healthy motivation, I can focus on some more challenging Platinums. Working for a Platinum and obtaining it, is a great feeling.

Funny enough, when I get burned out on trophy hunting, I play more games. I think starting up new games and sticking with them helps to forget about the backlog of unfinished plats already on my account, and finally playing games that I've been looking forward to for a while gets me fired up when I'm ready to go back.

Glad to see your enthusiasm for trophy hunting is back and looking forward to seeing what games you will play 😊. I've not experienced any real trophy burnout, but I am able to recognise when I need to step back a bit. Like after your challenge on Discord earlier this year, it was super fun but at the end of it I could feel the fatigue kicking in, so I slowed down my gaming time a lot. I like to set myself small milestones and goals with gaming, usually about 5 games every 3 months, and just chip away at things. I find it helps me not get too overwhelmed and keeps the burnout at bay 😊

I didn’t find ghost of Tsushima platinum that long and grindy tbh. Also thought the ikky island expansion was excellent and didn’t take too long either. Now the legends trophies, the three raid chapters and getting ALL FOUR classes to 20 was a slog, but only those ones tbh. Awesome beard as well btw.

I have recently decided to stop going for a platinum if a game becomes a job-like simulator. The latest example being RDR2: I now (only) need to study and skin every animal, beat those luck-based gambler challenges, survive 18 bear attacks (saving and loading the game in a specific area is just plain boring), and find a place for the squirrel statue. I decided to stop. That was enough. Getting all the gold medals on missions was indeed interesting in my opinion and the online trophies were a bit of a grind yet still fair. So yes, I decided to stop. I completed it 85% and I just don’t have it in me anymore. Maybe in a year or two might I come back to it. So, I feel you refer to the amount of hours that should be invested for a platinum after completing the story.

That Vault Boy Steve has a lot to answer for - 😂 I certainly wouldn’t have fancied Hotline Miami or Scott Pilgrim. I thought Ghost Of Tsushima was a great game and a fun platinum but I didn’t bother with the DLC. Maybe refusing to do grindy DLC could be your next big step. As you suggest I tend to read the reviews and do a bit of research before buying a game so I always know what to expect and whether it’s something I will enjoy. Glad to hear you are enjoying trophy hunting again and well done on another excellent video.

Going for a platinum should not be a chore, it should an experience. The uncharted and new Spider-Man games do it brilliantly and got me into trophy hunting on my new ps4 pro during lockdown. I’m only on my 9th platinum but all the games I play are triple A games and bought new/physical discs. My advice is do not go for easy plats that can be done very very easily. Have your platinum list showing a sign of a slight grind but respectable too. I rather have 20 well deserved plats than 50 where half of them are piss easy.

For me, I've fallen in love with arcade ports again, as a 36 year old. I don't care for most games that require a 100 hours to play. I enjoy them once in a while, but I have to really enjoy it. That being said, Tales of Arise is my main game now, but I have a few smaller games I'm playing when I'm not playing Tales. I used to go for platinums and achievements pretty hardcore. Now I typically shoot for over 50 percent to at least feel like I saw most of what the game offers. Unless every trophy is tedious, then I'll just play it for fun, or until it's no longer fun.

Glad to see your enjoying trophy hunting again, i couldnt agree more. I think easy trophy lists for games you enjoy are perfectly fine theres no need to try for a platinum thats excessively grindy or super difficult for the sake of saying you've earned the plat. Trophy hunting should be fun even if challenging. Gaming is only time spent well if its something your enjoying otherwise why bother putting time and effort in to something that ruins your love for it. Its why i think spiderman 2018 is a perfect plat bc it understands its limits and gets players to try everything within the game without overstaying its welcome

I agree with the opinion of 'if a game is 15 hours. Maximum time to get the plat should be same again'. Games that are too long for a plat, for some people this would be enough to not even play the game to start with, because a grind to the plat could take too long. Thankfully I'm not in the world of I won't play something unless I can platinum it, but some gamers/trophy hunters are and will miss out on some great games based on this. Or spend so much time grinding out trophies in games they long ago 'finished' they could have played a whole other game... maybe even 2 in the time spent with one grindy plat...
@PlatinumBro

Yeah thanks and I would say again that’s the absolute maximum amount of time for the platinum Trophy hunters do miss out on games for sure, but we all miss out on games. I totally fell out of love with Platinum hunting and gaming in general between 2014 and 2021. I went from getting 1 or 2 month to getting 1 every two years or so, for big games that I really loved (Bloodborne, Dark Souls 3, Spider-Man). It was, of all things, my vita that pulled me back in. Playing Undertale, the old Lucasarts games and the Sly trilogy that pulled me back in (that and getting a PS5). I think the trick is to only ever platinum a game that you really like. If you aren't enjoying a game, drop it. Life's too short to play games you don't like to make a fake number go up

I occasionally will take breaks and play games that I have been interested in but not interested enough that I feel the plat is necessary. For example the tales of arise platinum grind burned me out and then I played resident Evil 3 and turned off trophy notifications and it was refreshing to just play a game for what it is. Now, with GOW and MW2 I'm back on the grind. I might play something just for fun after that. The hardest part of trophy grinding is regulating the whole thing. We are the only one that put any kind of expectations or restrictions on ourselves as gamers. I knew it was becoming a problem when I would check a game out and find out rather quickly that it wasn't for me but because I had earned one trophy I couldn't delete the trophy list off of my profile and that demon would creep in my ear "just platinum the thing you don't want to feel incomplete"

Imo regarding open world games such as GoT, the plat trophy is the reward for going that extra mile and getting the 100% that most players won't go for. One of my least favourite trophies was the one in saints row IV where you gotta play for 40 hours because I got every other trophy including dlc in 25 so I had to idle for 15 hours.

I always rank the games i have played when ive completed the story, so the platinum grind wont affect my score of the game :) I also kind of suffer from a burnout, im just playing a game for the platinum it seems and i want to be done with it sooner rather then later. it kinda felt like a second job the last few weeks. (dont play 2 jrpgs back to back) one jrpg the story was done in 35 hours and it took me 115 hours to platinum. Im just going to relax now, watch some series and anime's i want to watch and put like 2/3 hours a week into a game i want to play! Thing is i have a list of games i really still want to play, and when im done with them i'm going to step back from gaming overall a bit, i'd love to get to the point to be hyped for new releases and buying games when they've just released, not looking at the trophy list and just enjoying it& going for the platinum afterwards ,without having a back log of older games i still want to play. Wanted to get to that point really fast by just blasting the backlog games, but im not enjoying them fully now so what is the point. going to take a step back, maybe drop some games im iffy about. Thanks for reading lol

I recently quit trophy hunting. I've been hunting since day one of trophies, so it's taken some getting used to lol but I'm having more fun now. I've turned off trophy notifications so they don't bother me too. Why did I quit? I feel the whole system has become pay to win. So leaderboards are a joke. Also it's become more trophy collecting, than hunting. Some of the triple AAA games basically give you a platinum for participating. I don't find that fun lol so yeah trophy collecting isn't for me. I'll find something else to hunt
@PlatinumBro
@PlatinumBro Жыл бұрын
That’s totally understandable, it’s not what it was 6-7 years ago. But fun can always be had with anything if you look hard enough. I’ve been challenging myself to still play the games on harder difficulties even if there isn’t a trophy related to it. That helps me a lot

For me playing those "pay to platinum" sort of games (My Name is Mayo is a prime example) is a no-no for me. I want quality platinum trophies from great games that I am genuinely loving and feel passionate about. I don't want to play games purely just for platinum trophies alone. There is an small indie game from 2020 called Coffee Talk that I am interested in since I am a big coffee fan and it's set in an urban fantasy setting which appeals to me since I love fantasy fiction. I also want to go back to a few PS4 games like Tony Hawks Pro Skater 1+2 and get the platinum trophies for those. I recently finally got the platinum trophy for Assassin's Creed Valhalla a week ago! It was a grueling grind but I am very proud of that platinum trophy.

@@PlatinumBro No worries. I wanna say the last time I sorta fell out of trophy hunting for a period was when Elden Ring released. It wasn't bc I was burned out on it though. It was bc Elden Ring was so good, I just stopped caring about trophy hunting for about a month or so. 😂 I haven't beaten it or even come close to beating it yet but, I've made like 9 characters & played a stupid amount of time just in the opening area alone. xD I do agree though that a bad trophy list or even a few in a row can really sour things. Usually I'll just stop for a bit or play something I just enjoy on a more basic level or I can play endlessly, like Elite Dangerous for example.

i hit the wall with Yakuza Like a Dragon. Great game but the wall you hit after completing the main story is a hard one to break through. I have over 10 hours of grind invested into leveling up job classes for the permanent stat boost. 10 hours doesnt sound like much but i kid you not that 10 hours is spent running the same 3 minute loop over and over and over and over. Its brutal. thats only the beginning. The True final millennium tower is a 200% difficulty jump from the main story. i dont think i died more than 3 times through out the story and this tower if full of one hit enemies. and dont even get me started on the true final boss Amon. That SoB will cheap you to death as soon as he hit 10% HP.. had to put it aside for a little while.. and what do i go and do? I go and put Returnal into the Ps5 like some kinda dummy. 10hrs in and im already thinking this one might go the way of Hades. As a 35 year old man with a full time job and low energy after a long day I just dont have the time or patience to try and find things that may or may not even be there.
