I worked inside a Kroger that had a licensed Starbucks inside. I was a Starbucks barista but a Kroger employee. And Kroger says that none of their associates are allowed to accept any form of tip or gift. So not only could I, as a barista, not accept tips, but I also could not accept people offering to buy me a drink. Absolute bullshit if you ask me, but they threatened firing us over it. Getting a $100 tip and having to tell them you can't accept tips is heart crushing especially when Kroger pays you minimum wage (not all Kroger stores say you can't take tips, but some are).

Yes tips are against the rules in most of retail. When I was in retail, I was threatened to be fired if I accepted any tips or snacks/gifts. I was offered many times and had to decline. While making $8.05-$13.50 in over 5 years.

I worked at a grocery store for 2 years and elderly people gave me tips just for helping them with their groceries and putting them in their car. The biggest tip I got was $10 from a elderly woman for helping her with her groceries. Safe to say I kept that a secret from them. And I don't work there anymore. Long story. I used to work at a cake place, and I wasnt allowed to take tips. Any tips we got we had to hand it over, we had cameras watching us so we couldnt keep it, and our owners took it for themselves. I hated it.

There is actually an IQ cutoff for being a cop. So you can be considered “too smart” to be a police officer. The reasoning is that you’ll get eventually get bored with the job and just move onto something else. (Which really says a lot in itself🙄) And a sign of higher IQ and EQ is being able to distinguish all of the gray areas in life, and reason through them to find the best answer for that situation, rather than stating matter of factly that everything is either right or wrong based on arbitrary facts. All of that being said, I’m not surprised to hear that lie detector story. Just more proof that the majority of police are meant to enforce outdated rules handed down to them and not to really think for themselves. I always found the IQ cutoff interesting. The day I found that out when I was in like junior high, my whole view of law enforcement changed.

Fun fact: I worked as a bookkeeper/customer service representative at Safeway and did a lot of lotto redemptions. People would try to tip me or buy me $1 tickets and would be really taken back when I told them I couldn’t take tips. For a lot of them that was common courtesy of winning, you tip the “dealer”. But if they insisted or like left the cash and ran it would usually get surrendered to the store as found money to avoid getting fired over it.

Literally yes! I work for a grocery store and deliver the drive up and gos and I had to turn down multiple tips last night because we’re not allowed to take them. It makes me so mad and no one will tell me the reason why we can’t take them. I think it’s the dumbest thing. Maybe you need to get your adnoids removed. They are something in your nose, similar to the tonsils, but they can block your airway in your nose. I got mine removed as a kid for my braces and later found out that people actually breath through their noses instead of their mouth haha I went from not being able to breath at all through my nose to completely being able to. Maybe something to look into
