Porsche 911s, Corvettes with manuals, VW bugs w manuals - even the early cars; with a manual and some one that understands the power band to keep the cars revs in - will let the car run forever. I'm coming from a tuned Mk7 Golf R and a Kia Stinger GT2 and this thing is still plenty of fun to me. The iMT stuff in this really makes daily driving a stick shift a dream and you even get adaptive cruise. Rev hang is minimal stock as well. Also another interesting thing to mention is that the 2L in this uses the 4-DS system which has both Direct Injection and Common fuel injection so your valves stay clean. I cannot recommend one of these enough. Yes it's a little slow, but driving a slow car is fun, and 170HP isn't a slouch either in a manual you can control the rev range on.

You're right about the tiny engines, Scotty. The irony is the 3-cylinders that they were introducing during my last few months at a GM dealer actually get WORSE gas mileage because they don't have enough power off the line.
@harrytitus91843 жыл бұрын
The cars that GM is putting these little engines into are just too heavy for these engines to pull around. They lack power and get poor fuel economy.

Matrix had significantly more headroom than the same-year Corolla. It was visibly taller than the Corolla. This gave them a more upright seating position and better ingress/egress, and made them much easier to live with. This new hatch does not appear to have much, if any, additional headroom.
@dunningkruger92 жыл бұрын
As a former 1st Gen Matrix owner, and a current Corolla HB owner, I can concur. It’s smaller. Less leg room. Smaller trunk, and lower seating position. Definitely not a crossover. On the other hand, it’s far more fuel efficient and out accelerates even the first Gen Matrix XRS. Handles great. Stiffer chassis. But definitely a smaller non-crossover hatchback.
@tunedf22 Жыл бұрын
I've owned an '07 Corolla LE, a '17 Corolla iM (formerly Scion), and now a '20 Corolla HB XSE. The '07 had the most rear room, but the iM and the HB have the versatility of a hatch. The iM seemed smaller from the driver's seat than the new HB, but had more rear seat room. There is a huge difference in power, too. The '07 and '17 Corolla had a 1.8L, but the new models get a very responsive 2.0L. Getting out of the new HB rear set as a 6'2" adult is not fun, but my kids are grown and this wasn't a deciding factor for me. Honestly, if they sold the Corolla Touring (wagon) in the US, I would have probably purchased one for the extra cargo space over the HB.

Car buying is very irrational. If it wasn't we wouldn't have sedans, luxury cars, and sports cars. We might all be driving stuff like the Scion xB as that body style is very practical and spacious in the inside. Why do you think kei cars are shaped like that? Most practical body style. Sedans cant compete with a hatch or wagon really unless they got a giant trunk.

I'm in Europe and got a 2021 Corolla station wagon, 1.8 hybrid, basically Prius drivetrain. Uses 4.9 liters per 100 km for the past 1000 km, 800 of which in the city. The 2.0 is faster no doubt, but the 1.8 is tried and true and is still quick enough. Port injection and no fancy turbos. They are also softer on the ride but still stable in the corners. Toyota engineers did a splendid job on the last 'rolla. Not to mention the thing is packed with features as standard, at least in Europe. BTW Toyota should pay Scotty percent of each car they sell. lol

They should’ve called it the Matrix. You see Toyota has brought back the Venza which they discontinued years ago and today it’s a solid suv, my only problem is why they didn’t use the V6 Hybrid instead of the 2.5 4 cylinder.

CVT TRANSMISSION vs. 6 spd. MANUAL transmission, which one will last longer on Toyota Corolla SE HATCHBACK?🤔 I have heard so many bad things about CVT transmission not lasting long and can't be repaired but must be REPLACED with a NEW CVT Transmission costing thousands of dollars🤑 $$$$ negating any savings from high MPG CVT gets. Is this true?🤔 What if any differences in acceleration 0 to 60 and top end speeds between CVT and 6spd. manual transmission on Toyota Corolla SE HATCHBACK?🤔 Is the CVT faster off the line 0 to 60 like most conventional automatic transmission over manual transmission?🤔
