I'm coming from a tuned Mk7 Golf R and a Kia Stinger GT2 and this thing is still plenty of fun to me. The iMT stuff in this really makes daily driving a stick shift a dream and you even get adaptive cruise. Rev hang is minimal stock as well. Also another interesting thing to mention is that the 2L in this uses the 4-DS system which has both Direct Injection and Common fuel injection so your valves stay clean. I cannot recommend one of these enough. Yes it's a little slow, but driving a slow car is fun, and 170HP isn't a slouch either in a manual you can control the rev range on.

Having been a matrix owner I have to slightly disagree with you the matrix was better than the Corolla I am in the Corolla hatchback that they have at now because it came with all wheel drive a really good manual version the suspension was awesome the drive train was amazing and it was bigger way bigger. I'm glad that they have something to challenge the Volkswagen r but I really miss the ruggedness of the Toyota Matrix.

3 cylindar doesn't hold up over time Scotty? Hey buddy I have 2 2001 honda insights one has 358,000 the other 236,000; and I still drive them; they do have manual transmissions that as I noted before this is the key to a car lasting. Porsche 911s, Corvettes with manuals, VW bugs w manuals - even the early cars; with a manual and some one that understands the power band to keep the cars revs in - will let the car run forever. It is automatics that kill cars; they fail, they lag the engine, they are costly.
@tc28822 жыл бұрын
Matrix had significantly more headroom than the same-year Corolla. It was visibly taller than the Corolla. This gave them a more upright seating position and better ingress/egress, and made them much easier to live with. This new hatch does not appear to have much, if any, additional headroom.
@dunningkruger92 жыл бұрын
As a former 1st Gen Matrix owner, and a current Corolla HB owner, I can concur. It’s smaller. Less leg room. Smaller trunk, and lower seating position. Definitely not a crossover. On the other hand, it’s far more fuel efficient and out accelerates even the first Gen Matrix XRS. Handles great. Stiffer chassis. But definitely a smaller non-crossover hatchback.
@tunedf22 Жыл бұрын
I've owned an '07 Corolla LE, a '17 Corolla iM (formerly Scion), and now a '20 Corolla HB XSE. The '07 had the most rear room, but the iM and the HB have the versatility of a hatch. The iM seemed smaller from the driver's seat than the new HB, but had more rear seat room. There is a huge difference in power, too. The '07 and '17 Corolla had a 1.8L, but the new models get a very responsive 2.0L. Getting out of the new HB rear set as a 6'2" adult is not fun, but my kids are grown and this wasn't a deciding factor for me. Honestly, if they sold the Corolla Touring (wagon) in the US, I would have probably purchased one for the extra cargo space over the HB.
