Really fantastic video series! I greatly enjoyed following this journey. You were really courageous to swap engines that were not perfectly matched! I wish you had recorded the reassembly and first start in more detail. Would also be great to hear how it's performing one year on. Still running like new? Other complications? What else didn't work besides the manifold flaps? Worth the trouble? Lastly, I'm curious about the cost breakdown. Thanks again for such a detailed removal video!

Any issues with crank sensor, i get engine light for crank sensor

No issues with a crank sensor whatsoever, but I installed the crank sensor from my 2011 S4 into 2013 S4 engine.

Nice job. I think there was something mentioned somewhere about timing adjuster solenoids being different between the b8 and b8.5 which can cause issues, did you have any issues like that with this swap?
@HETPEZB Жыл бұрын
Yes, solenoids are slightly different but they won’t cause an issues. Difference in mounting only.

@@HETPEZB interesting, what mounting differences? Really curious
@HETPEZB Жыл бұрын
The hole where the mounting bolt go through is on the different height. Meaning if one combination you can’t install solenoid deep enough and in other combination you need to put some washers under the mounting bracket to compensate the higher mounting point.

@@HETPEZB thanks! That’s a very useful piece of information, I’m sure not knowing this might be big problem for some people

Another question - you did have to replace the crank position sensor, didn’t you? It has different p/ns for the b8 and b8.5, right?

Hi, I have a 2012 a7 cgx_ engine going in a 2012 S5 both 3.0 I noticed the cam part numbers are different A7- 06E 109 102bg S5- 06E 109 102 BD Did you have the same situation in your application? That’s obviously only one cam but you get the idea. I just want to be sure this will work as audi says they’re not for both cars. Thank you in advance!
@HETPEZB Жыл бұрын
In my case the cam adjuster part numbers were different too, but it didn’t provide me any problems. In your case I think the main difference will be the rear timing cover (I think).

Thanks for the quick reply! I found the part numbers were just a revised number after cams were made from stronger metal. Cams are the same. Audi was not able to tell me this it took alot of research. Thanks again
