It feels great to bring those motors back to life, and saves you a ton of money(at least $80 an hour +parts). Congratulations!.....AL Scott

I Watch the entire video..lots of muscle due to the inconfortabil position to work…since you drop just about everything….maybe dropping the entire thing and rebuild it out of the car would be easier….then ask a friend to help you lift it up might be a better way to do it? Any advice?

the gaskets are leaking on my Venza, even though it has metal lines. This could be quite the challenge to do without a lift

Hello, can you advise if and how you removed the sunroof manual shade? I want to remove this to re-trim it but I'm struggling to figure out how this is done.
@HETPEZB14 күн бұрын
I slid it all the way to the back. There are couple tabs from the both sides and I used a screwdriver to get them out of the way and force the shade to go back.

I had both issues on my ’05, (climate control switches needed to be replaced and spoiler button not working) and just did this project. It took me about 2.5 hours. This video was very helpful and I'm very happy to have a great looking center dash. Regarding the removal of climate control switches, I didn’t understand until I struggled with it for several minutes that the tiny tabs must be broken off the switch and at the same time, the two long levers need to be pushed apart from each other, in order for the switches to be released. Use two tiny screw drivers or tweezers to separate the levers and a tiny screwdriver to break the tabs. As far as the spoiler button, the module does not unscrew to expose the inside, unlike the climate control module, which you can unscrew. This module has one-way tabs. I was not able to pry it open, for fear of causing irreversible damage to the module, so I didn’t proceed with that part of the fix.

I finally got around to replacing my cluster LCD. It's a bit of a pain to do without the proper tools and probably with the proper tools. 10/10 recommend getting the repair service instead... It took me about 5 hours. The older stepper motors with the black dots on the back are better in my opinion. I had a cluster from a 1995 e38 that I was able to take parts from. The cluster is somewhat different in that the redline is higher and the coolant temp gauge has a line in the middle to show the ideal operating temp, but the stepper motors are the same. The needles seemed easier to remove from the older cluster seeing as I was able to remove them without damaging the motors. Oh, and the black and white fuel economy stepper motors are the same as far as I can tell. I was able to pry the needles off of both. After changing the LCD, I noticed the light to show if the mileage has been altered is lit. I'm not sure exactly what caused that. It may have always been on before but I couldn't tell because of the dead pixels. I changed the LCM when I first got the car and I never had it coded. I remember the mileage flashed to over 200k, so I turned the ignition off and on again and the mileage went back to 130k I've driven the car across the country a few times since then.

Helpful video, appreciate the walkthrough, doing mine shortly 😅 The only thing I don’t understand is how marking the nuts on the strut mount helped lining it up when you reinstalled it. Is there a lot of wiggle room in the mounting holes?

Car care nut's channel mentions to not get brake cleaner on o2 sensor. May ruin sensor.
@HETPEZB2 ай бұрын
I would say not to get the brake cleaner on the "active" part of the sensor where the holes are and sensing element is. The "outside" of the sensor when it is installed is open to the elements and should withstand nearly anything.

Thanks for showing this, but WD40 does literally nothing to help remove bolts. Liquid Wrench and whack it with a hammer. Works best if you have time to spray, hammer it, and leave it for a little while. Amazing stuff.
@HETPEZB2 ай бұрын
I use Liquid Wrench spray as well. I didn’t find they work much different. Both do their job about the same.

Absolutely. This pointer motor needs to be replaced. The problem is - you need to remove other pointers to get to this one. If you don’t have a proper tools - it’s better to send it to someone for the repair before more damage occurs.
