I Finally Learned The Best Character in SF6

The people have been saying that JP is broken and cheap and top tier. It's time for us to really see if that's true by playing him! We actually placed in Gold 2 so there was a bit of a grind to Diamond that I did on stream but not for a KZbin video. Can these Diamond ranked players give me the challenge I need to learn JP's combos and mixups?

I'm a JP main and I know he's top 2. It feels like he has a lot of deep tools (I'm still seeing tons of brand new EX portal setups) and I'm concerned that other characters don't have this level of depth.

I'm no expert at fighting JP but I'd say his greatest asset is the frustration and panic he provokes in the opponent. A player needs to approach patiently and look for their opening, otherwise JP will win most sets. Many have said he's a knowledge-check character but I'd add that a well-played JP is a test of mental fortitude, good defense and identifying opportunities.

I still don't understand why they put in SF6 a character who doesn't need to play SF6... JP's design is so stupid, he is even more lame than Guile and Dhalsim have ever been. I don't know how long the game will do well with Kens and JPs dominating every competition, at every level, everywhere in the world, but it is actually getting annoying at this point....

lol JP is crazy, i took Manon to Master first, Ken to Master second and the stuff you can do with Ken is OD crazy. I think Ken is more popular because it's much easier to play Ken at max capacity. He's not a complicated character, he works practically the same as like half the characters in this game where you just throw fireballs and Drive Rush. He is just the best of those characters. JP is stronger because he has so many unique tech advantages. But he's less of a pick up and play character because you have to learn and practice all that stuff first, unlike Ken.

As far as I know, JP is the most represented character in Masters relative to the total percentage of JP players. It might not be accurate anymore, but at one point he was tied with Ken as the most played character in Masters as well.

I dont know what it is but whenever JP does the spin > ghost > heavy spike > portal i cringe. Every chatacter has their to to combo, but that combo just looks so lame. I might be biased against JP but damn, i just hate seeing it 😂

Even as a casual player myself, I can see why zoning characters like JP can be so disliked. But I see it like this: not everyone likes the rush down play style and there has to be something in place to check rush down

The issue with JP isn't that he's a zoner, it's that his moves are straight up overpowered. It's easy for him to lock down the screen with orbs and spires, and in theory that could be okay, but the damage conversions he gets when they juggle you are ludicrous. The margin for error while trying to dodge his zoning is so small because one touch is either death or some crazy 3-way mixup. And for a character that is so fundimentally strong at zoning, he also has an arsenal of tech advantages that no other characters in the game can really match. They can change the properties of some of his moves to reduce his power level, while also 100% retaining his zoning playstyle.

JP isn't just a zoner, if he was a zoner he wouldn't have great damage, or great close range buttons, dhalsim is a zoner. Jp is just bullshit because once you get in vs him he can make you guess on offense and if you guess wrong you lose 40%+ and are now Fullscreen again
