i think it was essential for celia to have her moment of unlikablness. it made character a lot more real and less like a love interest. we had to see that evelyn wasn’t the only one who made mistakes. Celia being downright cruel at times also made evelyns love for her that much powerful. they loved each other despite their flaws and they loved each other despite the world

@@narunatsu1 same I'm conflicted as well. Like we aren't really shown why they love each other this much. It felt more like every time they were actually together (post falling in love) they were at odds and hmm that part wasn't enjoyable.

@tfpradgirl9537
@tfpradgirl9537 Жыл бұрын
I thought they were toxic. Celia was very annoying, and I didn't understand what Evelyn saw I her. The book never explained why they loved each other because they didn't click. Celia was jealous and insecure because she couldn't stand the idea of Evelyn being with a man, even though she was bi. All we see of their relationship is either disagreeing, sleeping together, or apart. "Love of my live" no Evelyn she was a pain I the neck.

I just finished reading Daisy Jones & The Six, and its occurred to me that when Karen was telling her opinion on soul mates, thats exactly what Daisy and Billy were. The whole part about, " I think people who are the too similar... They dont mix well. But if i did believe in them, id believe your soul mate was somebody who had all the things that you didnt, that needed all the things you had. Not somebody who was struggling from the same stuff you are." And then Billy says, "Everything that made Daisy burn, made me burn. Everything I loved about the world, Daisy loved about the world. Everything I struggled with, Daisy struggled with. We were two halves. We were the same." I dont know if I'm being dramatic but those two phrases are just crazy to me. And I realize that Karen is right, it literally demonstrates the toxic / forbidden love that Daisy and Billy are stuck in. Although they had passion and magnetic attraction, (it obviously would've never worked because of the circumstances), but also because they were too similar. She would have been the end of him.

It's been over half a year that I read the Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo and there is not one day going by where I'm not thinking about it... This book broke me, more than anything else! Harry is one of my all time favorite characters and I think about him every day ❤️ Kinda SPOILER: the Picknick scene in this book (I think it was just a few pages long) was one of the deepest hitting chapters I've ever read! This chapter was pure happiness and sunshine and flowers and love... But right at the end there was this part where it said that this was the last time they all were happy like this... And while reading this part, I immediately started crying cause I just felt like all happiness and all the good things just vanished and there was nothing more than sadness to hope for...

Both times I literally had to stop because I couldn't see from my tears, I was wailing. Honestly can't wait for the Daisy Jones and The Six TV show and to hear all songs. BTW not sure if you listened to the audio book till end but Honeycomb is included in the audio book as a song and it is beautiful...

I read the ending of The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo on the plane and was literally trying so hard not to cry. But I ended up bawling my eyes out anyways. The flight attendant went up to me and asked me if I was okay hahah it was so embarrassing but definitely worth it.

I love them both but man Daisy Jones blew me away. Like you it was just like listening (I have the audiobook with Jennifer Beals as Daisy) to a documentary. I have been waiting so long for the tv series to come out and today we finally got a date: 3/3/22. I am so happy.

I was so so excited for this omg. 7 husbands is my fav book of ALL TIME i can't explain how that made me feel. literally everyone should read that book it changes you! The ending of Daisy Jones made me so fucking mad that if you asked me id say that i kinda hate the book now, the way i got so attached to the characters and how everything went downhill in the end (in the most realistic way i have to say) was so heartbreaking for me omg- PLS READ THEM. BOTH. FR.

I didn't cry reading this book tbh, but it's still a 5/5⭐ from me, i loved it, it was a simple story about a character that did and sacrificed everything to be "THE" Evelyn Hugo,and grew into a lonely and dull woman after losing all the people she cared about,also the plotwist at the end was so unexpected...

I'm so glad you enjoyed the books. Two friends recommended both books to me and I enjoyed them completely. Taylor Jenkins Reid is a great writer, she really knows how to make entertaining and relatable characters, a world that seems similar to ours, and things that we wish was real like the movies Evelyn does and the songs from Daisy Jones and The Six. Like you, I loved Harry Cameron and Evelyn and also agree that Celia can be so mean- such as not understanding about bisexuality and failing to understand everything Evelyn did was all for her until it was too late- and yet there is something about her that makes Evelyn love her. I wish I had Harry as a friend, I love him so much. I love how you describe the Six, thank you for your review of Eddie, I always disliked him because at the end, he claims that he ended up on top even though all he did was complain especially about Billy and be so judgemental to everyone. But everyone else is so cool. I think Simone and Daisy are an amazing friendship because Simone is always there for her no matter what. As for the relationships of Billy with Daisy and Camila, Billy and Daisy could be soulmates but Daisy is way too crazy for him while Camila is perhaps the one for him at least for the marriage life. I heard that Evelyn was based on many female actresses; Rita Hayworth for hiding her Latinx heritage, Elizabeth Taylor for the marriages, Ava Gardner for the spilling out the truth before her death, and Katharine Hepburn for the 1982 Oscar win. And Daisy Jones and The Six is apparently based on Fleetwood Mac. But I do wish all the songs and movies were real, I would watch Evelyn and Celia's movies and also listen to Aurora. I loved your review and I hope you do more reviews and do one on Malibu Rising, Mick Riva's family is in there and I'm sure you will enjoy it. Thank you for the review!

I agree with everything you said. Just finished Daisy Jones and the Six yesterday. But honestly I feel like Eddie's outbursts were reasonable. Sure he was cocky and annoying at times, but Billy was honestly a control freak. He treated the band like a dictatorship instead of a republic. So in Eddie's POV I could see why he was mad.

@@squidwardtentacles7144 I also agree Billy was a control freak, it was so obvious that I did wanna tell him to stop and let the others have their own say at least more than a few times. But Eddie still was such a complainer even when things were going good.
