So you might notice that i don't have much commentary on this video: I was recording all of my attempts, and i wasn't expecting to win in this one. I only started talking once i went past a point i had never gone before: the second elemental threshold at the end.

Thank you so much for your kind words! I am mostly a Great Sword player, so having switched to long sword mid playthrough to fight Alatreon of all things, i am pretty happy with how i did! Looking back yeah, i can see that i have made a lot of mistakes, i have never been a great Monster Hunter player, but i always had a passion for these games. Since this Alatreon attempt i have improved and am happy to say that i can now play much better!

Congratulations, man! You did this fight the hard way by running a Dragon Elemental weapon so props for that! I could never pull that off. I always just cheese him with Frostfang or Velkhana Weapons when he starts in Fire Mode. Alatreon is my favorite fight in the game and I love to watch people fight him with their play styles. I really love this vid. So many close calls. I felt like I was there fighting him haha

Thanks man! Yeah i realised that later, my knowledge at the time was very limtied. I knew the general shtick of alatreon but i didnt realise fire and ice were so much better thazn dragon. I was missinformed that dragon was an "all arounder" while fire and ice only do good damage in their respective opposite forms. Either way, later i tried again with fire LS against ice mode and it took like 20 hits to hit the elemental threshold, so much easier! Either way im happy with what i achieved!! Glad you enjoyed, yeah this was down to the wire!

Nice job on defeating the alatreon ! As a Longsword main, I advise you to use the Foresight Slash more often, which allows you to parry almost all attacks. If you ever manage to master the Foresight Slash you will do the Alatreon without any problem. And what's more, you already have the timings for dodges and iai slashes, so you really done it the hard way.

Alatreon is absurdly easy to dodge once you perfected sideway fade slash and has evade window 4/extender 1 due to him having really tight and small hit box. Spamming sideway fade and having the restrain to not do anything else is the way to go

What skills and weapon where you using?

Ill go check in more detail as soon as i can, but off the top of my head i had critical eye, weakness exploit, dragon attack, speed eating and i think evade window! The weapon is the maxed out Alatreon long Sword, the Armor is the full Alatreon set! Edit: I had blight resistance too! It was super important so i wouldnt get dragonblight which nulifies your elemental damage!
