I usually cut-off at the 12400F since it's such a deal. The 12600K goes in a customer build occasionally, since they're a bit less than the 14400F, but at either price a 5700X3D can be had for the time being.

Those LGA1700 i5s reach a sweet spot with efficiency, they run on a much more modern platform than AM4 and are cheaper to build than AM5, so they sure have their own spot in the market. I had a 12400 for a year and loved it, ran cool, silent and very snappy. Only replaced it when I saw 12700KF was dirty cheap, but the power consumption goes through the roof with this one I have to say.

@@GuardianLifts yeah I've got 32gb of ddr5 ram, the 4060 only has 8gb vram as opposed to the 12gb I have in the 4070 so it might be a problem for gaming at 4k without turning down some settings like textures and shadows. On veilguard I run it all on ultra but the 2 settings on 'fade touched' which are above ultra (textures and level of detail) I can't run because it maxes out my Vram. I'd recommend 32gb of system ram if you can afford it.

I limit my 12500 to 70W in the BIOS. It's good to keep the temps low, especially when using a standard CPU cooler. When just 1 or 2 cores are maxed out the performance is still the same. I would love a comparison with specific issue like say in Dead Space Remake there are traversal stutters in any hardware and I'd like to see if there's a difference in the exact same spots where you can find a traversal stutters to see if the 14400 improves the stutter at all or not. Especially playing in 4k, this game has pretty awful traversal stutters which is unfortunate for me cuz I'd play in 1440p but that looks blurry on my 4k monitor lol. 😢 I think that's due to my monitor trying to down sample it and it becomes blurry which makes sense.

idk why, but I've fallen in love with these lower end chips. Right now I have a 12400f system and a 13400f system and the power consumption is very low. 14400f is also very nice chip with low power consumption. I'd go with one of these chips over intels 15th gen chips any day. I love to see that you are giving these lower end chips so much love and screen time. Great video!
@masterkamen371
@masterkamen371 Ай бұрын
I dig these low end Intel chips, but they are in such a weird place on the market. More expensive than the Ryzen 5 5600, which is good enough not to ever give you a CPU bottleneck with a mid range GPU, and only slightly cheaper than the lower end X3D chips (which still top charts and are ahead of any Core i9 and whatever they call the latest one). Might build an Intel based server though. Some newer i5 or i3 and a bunch of DDR4 should go for pennies used. Edit: nvm, local sellers are on crack, I could build another 5600X system new for what the pricks ask for a bare motherboard and CPU.
@Yukeena
@Yukeena Ай бұрын
@@masterkamen371 yeah man. here too with these local sellers. I regularly see people trying to sell $300 pc's for like $1k+ or cheap graphics cards and other parts for more than they cost new on amazon. But you do bring up some good points, but I had a bad experience with am4 (specifically my 5700x) with WHEA errors with xmp enabled and stuttering. Was a huge headache and could never figure it out, so I jumped ship from am4 and went with doing my next builds with 12400f and 13400f. My next build with be an igpu build with the 8600g and getting the asrock x600 deskmini since I think $200 is great deal for itx case, mobo and psu, plus 8600g has great power efficiency like the 12400f and 13400f.

@@masterkamen371 If you plan on doing Plex on your server definitely go Intel, QuickSync is fantastic for transcodes. For gaming go with the better value in your market but in the US the 5700X3D or 7600 make very tempting value chips. I wish the 7500F were easier to get....
