Okay jk everyone, the way I did it in this video is not fermented rice water it’s just regular rice water (after further review lol) I didn’t let it sit out in room temperature I put mine straight in the fridge as shown in the video. If you try rice water you can do it either way but results may vary. Also in some of the videos I watched some people rinsed off the rice and some people didn’t but the results didnt look too much different in each video such just be cautious about that too. Thanks for watching :)

I’ve tried it too. Left the rice water out to ferment and it smells like old dog balls... so gross but I mixed mine with stuff. I steeped some potent nettle and added eucalyptus oil since both are beneficial for hair. It had a teeny bit of an underlying smell but since eucalyptus is such a strong smell, it wasn’t too overpowering. But seeing you used it with orange peel, I might use orange essential oil or something else like that. Thanks for the measurements too bc I never thought about doing that. so I will add some personal tips and my personal experience. I see some others shared it is best to leave the rice water out for room temperature for 24 hours which is exactly what I do when using rice water. I also make sure I rinse my rice off first before creating my rice water. After 24 hours I put my rice in a spray bottle or applicator bottle it is a lot easier to use. Another major tip rice water is similar to a protein treatment so I make sure to add my favorite cream moisturizer or (leave in conditioner )and sealing oil (castor oil) after I have sprayed my hair with rice water basically following the (LCO) method. This is to make sure I'm not having a protein overload. Ive been using rice water during my protective styles under my wigs and I wish I could insert pics my hair has grown SOOO much and so thick. I have had this one area that was so stubborn to grow for years and rice water was the only thing that made the hair grow back. I only use the treatment one week out of the month just because I have protein sensitive hair but I recommend it to everyone!!

The thing with the rice water method you have to do it for a good while to see much growth. My routine consisted of deep conditioning either overnight or for 1 hr with a mixture of yogurt, coconut or castor oil and rice water. I would also add rice water to my conditioner. I would cowash and wash my hair once a month for about 6 months which i my hair had grown 3/4 of the length.

U can either leave it to ferment, for 24 hours or more. But I’m an impatient person so i make my rice water like I’m boiling rice. This is because as it heats up all the nutrient from the rice goes into the water when u boil it which is the same as fermenting just in a lazy way. And it works. I used mine for 4 weeks straight 3 days a week, and this was when i had my faux locs. When i finally took the locs out, girl my hair grew and it was thick. Trust me i was scared doing that because that’s way too much protein, but surprisingly my hair didn’t fall out, normally whenever i take my braids out and comb it out i get shedding here and there but this time? Nothing. The rice water did start to get thick and smell tho so i dilute it with water to prevent that from happening, as for the smell? Peppermint is my best friend. I am giving it a break tho, and only time I’ll deal with rice water is when i have any protective style on my head.
@graceeyindiya90454 жыл бұрын
And in addition to that, i make my own hair growth oil using the Ayurvedic method. It’s just more better for me because that way i know what ingredients I’m putting in my hair and i know it’s no for if harsh chemical or anything. Castor oil, pumpkin seed oil, olive oil, peppermint oil and patience 💯

I used fermented rice water on braids for about three months, I believe it worked. I had to cut off major ends due to heat damage and its back to normal. I would recommend using it on styles you don't have to do major touching with and sometimes people use it too much and it's still a protein treatment, so my experience with it has left my hair very thick and my length has grown back; I usually have stunted hair growth from alopecia so three months on a regular don't grow nothing lol. It only smells when you let it ferment for 24 hrs or longer! Then place it in the refrigerator to stop the fermentation process till use. Then it's quite potent!!! I think it works best when its fermented vs not fermented!! It usually makes your hair very soft with the fermented version, I've done many treatments to my hair with fermented ricewater and I add essential oils to it to combat the horrible smell usually peppermint and it works just fine. Then follow up with a leave in conditioner and follow your normal hair routine! I love these treatments!!! You also have to do these treatments as a regular routine to see or get the best results!!!

The biggest thing I noticed was less shedding I used to shed a ton and now it’s about dime to nickel size depending on how long it’s been since I detangled. Vanessa Moris protein treatment is meant to strengthen the protein bonds in the hair shaft, while a conditioner is meant to give hair hydration and moisture. Too much protein can cause hair to break, which is why it’s encouraged to use protein treatments occasionally.

Hi I have checked out lots of videos on rice water treatments and I think the mistake you made is by putting your rice water in the fridge to ferment. I put mine in a warm dark place for 3 to 5 days. I only put it in the fridge if I have made too much as the refrigerator slows down / stops the fermenting process. My results were really good I used the treatment to help me through my transition to going natural. My hair was at armpit length, ever 2 weeks I washed my hair trimmed 2/3 ins of my heat damaged hair did the treatment and by the end of the next wash day I had my 2/3 ins back. It gave me the confidence to big chop to shoulder length this summer. I am how using black rice water as a daily leave in conditioner and a rinse on wash day. Getting the moisture balance is tricky but it’s working well my hair is 3/4 ins from armpit which I hope to achieve by next summer. Hope this is helpful. Keep up the good work x 🙏🏽

If you manipulate your hair alot you can lose your edges in your hair just saying I use rice water is a spray in but I put leave in conditioner in it because just regular rice water can leave your hair dry and crispy

Whether you put rice water in your hair or not your hair is going to grow anyways the rice water just makes your hair stronger but I use rice water everyday with leave in conditioner

Hi JessI love watching your videos! Did you shampoo, deep condition and then used the rice water or vice versa? I may have missed that point. Thanks!
@theresawadehouston19875 жыл бұрын
Hey Jess, You get more nutrients from the rice when you boil it. It is a straight up protein treatment not a conditioner. Works best when applied after shampooing. Used to stop breakage and mend split ends. Not necessarily to increase growth. So your new growth won't show a big improvement but your hairstrands will. Think of it like an organic Aphogee Protein Treatment. It is meant to strengthen and heal the hair you have not encourage hair growth. Rice water rinse needs to be followed by a good deep moisturizing conditioner. I put it in a spray bottle (like you did Week 3) so I can spray it on my scalp and all down my hair strands to the ends. That works best for me and is less messy. I do it bi-weekly. I follow TheMestizaMuse on IG. She is a natural hair curl genius. First heard about rice water from her.

Thanks for the time and effort in making your video. I was looking for someone with the same or similar grade and length as mines and found you. I have not used the rice water yet, still watching reviews. Just using the LOC method for now. Plan to do the inversion method again as well. Transitioned 3 years ago and was content with my regrowth but still an inch or two from my normal prior length.

Yes the frig stops the fermentation process. So proper fermentation is at room temperature. If you measure your hair twisted, that’s the way you always have to measure. Your hair measures a bit longer out of twist. Just some tips.

I fermented my rice for 2 days then used it. The smell made me shower 2x😨😷 I put the rest in the fridge. Does anyone know if it will still be potent in 1.5wk for my next wash day?

I like the fact you did not leave it to ferment. Is the fermenting process really needed? I ask this because I cannot with the smell and I think it makes it a long process

What I do is whatever rice water is left I just put it back in the fridge and add more water to the rice water... And some fresh aloe Vera the smell will knock u out (I take it out a night before I use it so it's not cold) but it reduced my hair breakage to 80%

I love rice water, I've been using it since december 2017. It helps me reduce hair shedding mostly! I now use it to prepoo mixed with hybiscus tea. Instead of spraying warm water on my hair before applying warm oils I spray warm hibiscus rice water and my hair feels extremely soft when shampooing with african black soap

From what I have seen it always varies from person to person. The one thing that I did see that was consistent is people that didn’t have the protein issue that their hair was stronger and there was less shedding.

Jess I am so glad you did this video. I think the rice water actual gives my color treated hair the extra protein it needs to prevent breakage which in turn provides length retention. I am team rice water.

The way you measured your new growth was different that the whole strand. You pulled the strand to give the full length, but the roots measurement was still shrunken I believe lol. I like rice water. I don’t feel like it’s given me a lot of growth either though. I’ll have to try it out for 4 weeks as well!
