Great to see you back up and walking, it's great that they found a solution for your knee. I ave heard of a few places that will not touch a used knee from Ebay.

Congratulations. I have several eBay finds. Surprised Hangar worked with you on second hand prosthetics. I’ve felt with Hangar once and once was an experience I’ll not deal out again if I can help it. Experience was so bad I ended up inventing my own vacuum socket. Works so well I no longer charge my suction pump. My system is self vacuuming from walking with no mechanical or electrical pump. The socket is the pump and the seal is so good using zero skin contact there are no leaks.

Fantastic to see you walking again! I am also a RAKA and using a Plie knee as well. its a very good light MPC knee which is serving me well, The batteries are easily available (just google D-LI8) and the configuration software is free for download. As you adapt to your socket we look forward to many more of your youtube postings. All the best!

And yet here in the uk i am above knee and cant even walk using crutches let alone without crutches, if i had to try and walk without crutches first of within a day it would rip into my groin and leave a open wound which in turn going by my previous experiences with my leg it would infect and stay infected, so walking on the limb i have right now without crutches absolutely not a chance in hell, but that aside such is the fact its so poorly fitted i can barely walk on it anyway, and this is a new leg well i say new but not entirely new its just a new cast to which as usual it fits absolutely horrendous, maybe if they put someone on to me who had years of experience in fitting then maybe i just might get a decent fitting limb, but all i get is young girls just starting out who lack experience, and if they mess up its highly unlikely they will start again because of the cost involved, so instead they will patch it up as good as possible, seems once you reach my age 60 then unfortunately they are quite simply not that much interested in putting as much into you as they would a much younger person, thats my opinion based on how i see much younger amputees getting treated and also better quality limbs more advanced.

To the untrained eye, it looks like that leg is slightly too short for you, though I am sure if it is, it's an easy adjustment, and that if it actually was, your orthohero would have done that. I have a question, one that you probably won't be able to answer for a couple of months, but does walking on the above the knee leg feel compared to the below the knee one? I have a feeling you are going to have to get use to the new leg to answer that. Also curious, about what would the computer knee cost if you had to buy a brand new one out of pocket?

Congratulations! I don't have insurance at all and I know how difficult many things can be when you are trying to make do with a cost effective solution. On another note, how cold is it in St. Louis now? I notice you guys have bare arms and legs. Here in NY, it's freezing.

Hello, I am a current Hanger patient in Fort Worth, TX. Correct me if I am wrong. From you video I'm understanding that you went on Ebay and bought a microprocessor knee for $50. The battery was bad and you just simply replaced it? Is this true?

I have had very negative experiences with Hanger. I try to avoid walking into their clinics. I don't blame you for walking out.
@AmputeeOT4 жыл бұрын
Each clinic is different and I feel strongly that negative experience in one clinic should only reflect on THAT CLINIC and not all Hanger clinics. I won’t go to anyone but my current prosthetist. Even if he changed companies.
@erictaylor54624 жыл бұрын
@@AmputeeOT I've had issues at three different Hanger Clinics. I know how you feel though. I had found the best prosthetist I've ever had (I've been an amputee for 48 years, so I have had a lot). Then she got her dream job, at the VA. As I am not a veteran she could no longer be my prosthetist, but she set me up with someone else who she said was "just as good," another female prosthetist. Turned out she was just as good, but it felt a bit like breaking up with your girlfriend and having her set you up with someone else. If you lived near Portland Oregon, I would talk my person up to you.
