Just a hint. Many of your questions can actually be answered by looking around. Riot/Fortiche doesn't waste a scene, a background, an object or color in this. People are going over the series time and time again and finds new things. When you asked why didn't the husband in the house of Kiramman go to the hearing but her, the answer is staring you in the face. Look at the painting behind them. You see the whole family there. Its a hunting scene, showing the families wast estates outside the city. The prize of the day put in front of the family on the husbands side. Showing that he's in charge of the meat once his wife has acquired it. The lady is standing, while her husband is sitting. This is to show power-dynamic in the family. Caitlyn stands in front of her mother holding her mothers gun, showing her status as the heir apparent. The frame is golden and heavy, showing the family's power and the family crest is directly above the painting, also in gold. In fact the vast amount of gold in the scene shows richness collected over generations.

Yeah, it gets me when people call him a villain and leave it at that. He’s not, that’s such a black-and-white way to look at the world. The world, and as arcane depicts all its characters, are far too complex and layered to be simplified that easily. He’s a broken man fuelled by injustice that is so consumed in achieving the freedom for the undercity, that he decides he’s willing to do anything to achieve it. The way he passionately speaks of a free under city is so compelling. His heart was always in the right place. His actions and the way he decides to go about achieving his and Vander’s dream is wrong.

@@nobleheart8325 his actions are not wrong in the big picture, in fact Vander is the villain. Silco is cruel and is willing to sacrifice everyone to acomplish his dream. But everything he does is to end a system of class opresion. In a world in wich everyone tries to gain power and money Silco becomes king, and he only uses his power and money to liberate his comunity. Yes he make them suffer, but ONLY cuz him they get free of the subjugation. On the other hand Vander, that once had the same dream, abandon his people for egotistical reasons (understanding that not being able to lose 2 adoptive daugthers is only egotistical in the big picture) and tries to kill his own brother drowning him in polluted water cuz his revolution was a threat to those kids. Most people dont understand that Vander is not a "good guy" at any point in this series. He and the female sherif are the authority figures that made posible the continuation of the opresion, they soften the situation (that otherway would have exploded, as it did at the begining of the seasson) but never try to end it, they dont make any movements that make us think change is posible. Vander sacrifice the comunity for his family and Silco sacrifice evething for his comunity. ¡SPOILERS! And in the end Silco choose is dauther over his comunity as Vander did, but by that point he allready started an unstoppable movement that will end the system through Savika and Jinx.

I love how Silco's monologue in the beginning of episode three is the perfect metaphor for his perspective, his philosophy. "Have you ever wondered what its like to drown?" For him, living in the undercity is like drowning. The toxic environment, the poverty, the hunger, the violence and neglect, the abuse of power, the oppression, the hate and prejudice from above. Its like slowly being suffocated and everything you need to survive and what makes life worth living is step by step being taken away from you. "There is peace in water." For Silco the peace Vander made with the enforcers means betrayal. It is a hollow, a false peace, because it means accepting your fate as the one being drowned. It means abandoning your principles, your responsibility and your goal. "But then there's this thing in your head and its raging. Lighting every nerve with madness. To fight, to survive" For Silco, fighting Piltover with everything he has is like a survival instinct. And to him that also means that everything he does is justified if he succeeds. The contrast between "peace" and "justice" is a fascinating writing theme. Two principles that should not be in conflict with each other, but in reality they are. When are peace and justice contradictory? Where do you draw the moral line when it comes to the question of how far you can go in the revolution against oppression? What is the more important principle: peace? or justice?
@TterminusS
@TterminusS Ай бұрын
that is a good question and its more relevant than it ever was in todays world. Where does fighting for your rights and freedom start and where does it end? where does "terrorism" begin? the line is very blurry and depends on the perspective.

The way that Mylo managed to break Vander free and Claggor managed to break the wall just seconds before the explosion is just so cruel. They would have been successful had Power not jinxed it. It's not guaranteed that they would have escaped. We are shown that even with Vi reinforcing the door, it is failing, and we have seen how fast shimmer Deckard can be. @@derekmarshman6154 Maybe, but since Vander was free, I think he would hold Deckard in place while the others run away, or they all gang up on him and might succeed. @Tranitosaur maybe, but JUST maybe. No one knows what would have happened. I'm saying that it's not guaranteed that they were getting out for free. Deckard face tanked that giant explosion, kept going, and dumpstered Vander. "Powder fucked up, she should have listened to Vi! They were just gonna walk away until that dumb little girl ruined everything! She deserves to get punched!" Is the way a lot of people look at it, because Vi is "perfect" I'm just trying to point out that it's not as free an escape as Vi fans try to make it seem. Also: Claggor is a good beefy boy, and decent at fighting. Claggor gets one-shot by Shimmer Deckard. Let's be real.

@@TterminusS Yes, for sure, Vi is the kind of person who always blames herself for everything. As Vander told her, "Whatever happens, it's on you". That is why she was also thinking of surrendering herself to the enforcers to save Powder. I hope you can remember that that is what describes Vi. She would do anything for the people she loves even though she might be erratic at times. She is a protector and she has immense trauma of her own. A lot of people tend to forget that...

@doragonsureia7288 Ай бұрын
1. Do you normally watch shows and films in original language or german? 2. Powder, Vi and Vander already knew each other in the first scene, after the battle on the bridge 3. The Co-Creator of Arcane is Christian Linke, a german singer who works for Riot now 4. The art style is a mix of 3D CG effects and 2D painted drawings. Basically the entire background is painted like in a cartoon. That makes it faster and cheaper to produce and the artists can focus more on the details and main effects. That's why Arcane is less than half as expensive as most Disney productions while still being better than every Disney production. 5. League also has cinematic videos like Overwatch and some are just as good or even better! (Call of Power, Annie, Warriors, Awaken, The Call and Still Here are the BEST) 6. The league lore also has a lot of "universe"-themes. There are celestial gods and horrors for example, and the base story also starts with the creation of the universe. 7. "Oh the misery" 8. If you see small furry creatures like professor Heimerdinger, the species is called "Yordle". They are immortal beings, born from magic in a pocket dimension called Bandle City. If they die, their body will reshape in Bandle City. They are quite fun 9. Heimerdingers fear of magic is based on the "Rune wars" (you can see them in the "Call of Power" cinematic) 10. Piltover and Zaun are exactly between two continents, that are seperated by the canal "Pilt" (that's why it's called Piltover, build over Pilt). That makes the cities so important for trade routes 11. The undercity Zaun exists since ancient times (multiple thousands of years). It was the most valuable trading city of the Shuriman empire (leagues version of ancient egypt) and was called "Kha'Zhun" or "Oshra Va'Zaun". Oshra Va'Zaun was build on a thin land bridge between the two biggest continents, but to make trading with ships easier, they used lots of explosives to blow up the land bridge (creating the canal Pilt). But they used too much explosives and half of Oshra Va'Zaun was destroyed. 12. "The boy didn't even haggle" 13. Worse than you expected? Welcome to LoL stories. Half of the characters had severe trauma.

One thing I highly recommend is listening to the soundtrack. If you want, you can check out the songs as they appear in the act (both seasons of Arcane were released in intervals of 3 acts, 3 episodes per act) because they help you understand the character or the situation in which the song is being played. The soundtrack has a particularity, which is that the songs were made exclusively for the scenes in which they appear or vice versa. They are closely related to each other and the lyrics are very well thought out.

I think people are unfairly harsh on the Kirimmans (Jayce's sponsors) for turning their backs on him. Jayce was caught using their money to fund experimenting with highly dangerous materials in a residential area on a secret project that's entire premise is outright forbidden by the founding law of their city/nation. And they STILL defended him at his trial even though that could be taken as endorsement of his law breaking. Jayce put them at serious legal risk. I think they went above and beyond in their role as patrons to help him.

@@TterminusS Please mute scenes with music isntead of skipping some seconds, if you can. Those skips mess up sync up time with video from my own side. And i bet there is decent amount of people who fire up Arcane on their monitor and sync up to you to watch along side. Pausing to talk about scene is perfectly fine, but those skips, to not get flagged, are a bit annoying. Later episodes will have a lot of scenes with music, especially season 2, and this could turn those scenes into a slideshow.

If it is the original i wonder what makes it in your opinion the best of the best because as far as i know it should not even exists since the creator at that time went through deep depression (as i heard) and the "remakes" are the ones he was meant to make in the first place :D

Why not removing sound all together and let people sync up with their own video? This way you wont need to skip past music sections. Because right now it is very annoying trying to sync up from my end to yours. Rest of the series will be having a lot of songs and if you going to skipping/fast forwarding them it will be worse with each episode. Or just mute sound during those scenes.
@TterminusS

many people do not prefer the syncing but rather watch it this way or go for the full length on patreon. Also, i would not be able to do the pauses if I did it 1:1 for syncing. Apparently its generally accepted, esp. with lower volume and visual barriers (logo, semi-transparent, etc.). The only issue is the music most of the time. I'll probably mute parts of the music again for Act 3. But I have the full length files in my archive, albeit in lower quality. If a video gets taken down ill see if I can reupload it as a timer version. I hope I don't get a strike, so far it's mostly blocked content. In which case ill have to re-edit. Though to be fair, I have to trash the raw files after a few weeks, so if something happens after that ill have to improvise and just deal with it, use the archived files, like I said.

Sorry, but i just dont buy this "Undercity being opressed by Piltover" theme i act2. All i can see - is enforcers chasing down criminals in the Undercity. Trying to find terrorists who stole dangerous weapons. And trying to solve everything with words first. And its never shown that Piltover profiting from Undercity. Nor we see any machinery that cause this smog in it. Nor, as we see in Viktor's case, people from Undercity permitted from participating in Piltover's activities (just some noname guy from undercity managed to get a very high position. And we saw NO prejudice from any people towards him) So, like...eeh. I would feel more sympathy for Undercity, if girls weren't stealing for self-esteem boost, and then some people in the bar trying to rob some shy, insecure guy, and then few minutes after - we saw Ekko who sold some illegal parts to a random guy, and then followed him home to steal them back. And then our girls got ganked on with a knife. And then Silco with shimmer. And then Powder was making bombs with nails against enforcers. Eeeh. You can hate Markus as much as you like, but when he said "there's a crime behind every coin that passes there" - was he...wrong?
@TterminusS
@TterminusS 19 күн бұрын
The issue with this is the oppression has been happening long before we dropped into this story. Victor is one of the few people of the undercity who "made it", few people ever spend a thought thinking about what the people down there live through. And if you are born there good luck getting up there. Victor was discovered by Heimerdinger, he would probably not have made it to the academy alone. The issue with marginalized less educated groups that fight for survival is that everything gets boiled down to basic needs. People don't steal out of malice. They steal because that is the way they learned to survive and because their oppressors morally "deserve it", or so they justify it. Scarcity of resources breeds distrust and betrayal, and the few people who manage to become powerful down there adopt the methods of the ones above, oppress, exploit. And it takes a lot of "not looking there" to just ignore the social injustice and only look for your own well-being. It gets so far that people (not all, but many) will not even want to associate with you if you came from the undercity. But it's very much a metaphor for our own world. Where the rich get richer and the poor have to fight to even get any basic social aid. Things like "they could just work harder, I did it too" is then being used by single individuals who either are the exception (survivorship bias) or never realized how privileged they really were growing up in a home with enough food, education, caretakers. And to top that off, we have to keep in mind that the world we are introduced to that Vi and Powder live in is a world where Vander and the Enforcers had a deal. A deal that says "we ignore most illegal stuff as long as you exploit and harm each other, but not if it happens topside". Vander was more afraid of an all out war/revolution because he knew how many people would die, since the undercity/lanes clearly did not have the resources and military power to fight well equipped enforcers backed by innovative technology. And even if they maybe lived in "relative peace", they had very little and were exposed to very unhealthy and dangerous environments. Now as a nation that thrives it is the responsibility of piltovers leadership to make sure all its citizens have the chance to thrive, not just those born rich or noble or genius inventors. A lack of care (and probably historical facts) led to a societal rift that was unclosable and a difference of wealth, abundance and comfort that heavily favored one side. I understand the police officers "doing their job" and their mindset, and that they feel threatened in their safety and livestyle by the "criminals of the undercity". But if you understand how this kind of societal rift normally starts you understand this is a symptom of actions and policies across decades that should be worked on to be fixed, and not crushed with a hard hand and callousness. That's not how it works. It's easy to fight and enemy, it's hard to help someone in need (even if they might not want to be helped at first, out of distrust and bad experiences).
