The sorcerer of Tzeentch manifests any small subtle fears the marines may have and then uses those fears to inflict physical wounds on them. -For the first Bladeguard it implies an element of self-doubt, literally crushed by the resposablilty of his duty. -For Bladeguard Sergeant Metaurus it manifests as his doubt in his choice of Titus as an aspirant, Remember this is following the events of Space Marine 1 & 2 and "the stain of suspicion never completely fades" despite all Titus has done Metaurus still has some small element of fear that chaos may corrupt him. -For Titus the sorcerer takes him back to the most venerable time in his life, before he became a space marine, when he was a kid and his home planet was invaded losing his family and everything he had ever known, yet even then he had no fear only rage.. so much so as to tell a 'Angel of Death' (Metaurus) that he happened upon to "move out of my way old man". So even at his most vulnerable he was able look back and see only the sorcerer and not a manifestation of fear.

Titus joins a Bladeguard Veteran squad to a Tzeentch controlled planet. They are attacked by Cultists, then Tzaangors. The man in the box was an Astropath. A psyker who projects a protective shield from Warp entities. They're finally attack by a Sorcerer who exposed their fears. The veteran sergeant is afraid Titus will fall to Chaos. Titus has no fear.

Some context: This takes place after the events of Space Marine 2 (Titus has the Imperial Laurel honor badge on his helmet that he received at the end of the game.) It's either the next mission that we see him being sent to in the final cutscene or some other later mission after that. 5:05 The egg shells probably have to do with Tzeentch and his daemons, who are usually in birdlike forms. Birds and bird eggs may have been part of Tzeentch rituals and worshipping that the cultists were performing to their chosen god. The paper reverse fizzling into existence is probably just some kind of weird warp distortion to show that the laws of reality of breaking down in this area. Tzeentch type Chaos magic deals with change and shifting the nature of reality. 7:44 The mission objective. A statue of a Tzeentch Greater Daemon. We aren't given much detail about this. It's probably the source of Chaos corruption and a threat to the planet. It must be destroyed. 7:55 That's a psyker (probably some kind of astropath) that was brought along to protect the Space Marines from any Chaos dark magic and reality warping. The marines became vulnerable to the Tzeentch sorcerer's time warping powers once this psyker was killed and his protective psychic barrier fell. 8:30 This gets a little more complicated. Basically, the Tzeentch sorceror used its dark powers to invade the minds of the marines and turned their fears against them. I think deep down the first marine believed he had some kind of weakness within himself, which he thought could one day lead to him failing his brothers and failing in his duty. This was his source of fear and doubt. The Tzeentch sorcerer who invaded his mind discovered this inner fear and brought it directly to the surface, likely even amplifying it to extreme levels. This is what caused the marine to turn against himself and then destroy himself in his own mind, which was then manifested by the sorcerer's dark magic as actual damage and injury in reality. We didn't see inside the mind of the second marine who was killed/wounded, but it could have been something similar. 8:45 I think the fear of Metaurus was his choice to recruit Titus. Titus is a unique anomaly in that he literally lacks any fear at all, which is something that makes him dangerous and unpredictable. Metaurus feared his chosen protege could one day become corrupted and turned into a powerful agent of Chaos. The death and destruction this could bring would have been Metaurus' fault. The sorcerer found this fear and used it against Metaurus, wounding him in the real world. 9:09 The sorcerer finally invades Titus' mind. To the sorcerer's surprise, Titus is not like other men and has no fear whatsoever. The sorcerer has no power there. Nothing to use against him. Titus retaliates in his mind and breaks its staff. As we see with the other marines, this damage is manifested back into the real world and the staff actually breaks, which apparently is the source of the sorcerer's reality warping dark powers. Time resumes and Titus kills it.

I would argue that while this is happening during the mission, this was not the original content of the mission, you can see every time we are shown the ships from the outside, they are trapped mid transit, thats not normal, so the mission went fubar, and a suicide strike, became necessary ...

I think the first Astartes feared he was weak without his Power Armour, and that's why his human body is frail and weak when the armour pulls it out, and as any astartes knows, weakness must be purged.
@PaulGuy

@@NordisktLejon Yeah, I think it's something like this. The demon seems to take the form of each of their fears, the armor for the first marine, and was killed by his armor after being removed from it. It took the form of Titus for Metaurus, and that form stabbed Metaurus. But Titus has no fear, so there's no form for the demon to take.

Not really. The statue was hiding the chaos power thingy from orbital bombardment by surrounding it with a bit of warp area. Destroying it meant that the Space Marine strike cruiser can now pinpoint the area, the fact that the destruction of the statue released an unholy amount of warp energy also helps. This is also why wars in 40k can't just be ended with bombing people from space all the time as there are ways to stop that.
@ronniebots9225
@ronniebots9225 Ай бұрын
@@paimonisfood4986 no, hes not completely wrong. Watch it again. The strike cruiser seems to be stuck in warp exit. Everytime you see the stiker from the outside, you see the warp around it with clear space behind it troughout the whole episode. Happy New Year!!! Yes, that was an amazing episode. This is the special mission Calgar had for Titus at the end of Space Marine 2. You can tell it is after due to the laurels of victory on Titus’s helmet. Those were not daemons in the dark with the blue blood, those were Tzangors from the game itself! I’m actually painting some right now. It’s been confirmed that the end creature is a mutant sorcerer. I thought it was a daemon prince myself originally, but GW confirmed this. They have an article with all the Easter eggs from the episode on the Warhammer community site if you are interested in looking it up.

I thought that Titus was amazing before SM2, but everything after has made him my favorite character in 40K, maybe of all fiction. His story is amazing, and I'm glad we got to see Titus after SM2 so soon. He really trusts his brothers, and we finally get to see why he is just so resistant to the warp. The man has no fear. Full stop. That first marine to die's fear was that he was not worthy of the armor he wore, so it crushed him. Sergeant Metaurus' fear was that Titus, the child filled with anger and rage, would become corrupted and turn traitor. That's why his vision was Titus getting all Chaos spiky and stabbing him, but we know that will never happen. So when the daemon got to Titus, there was no weakness to exploit, no fear AT ALL. A true "I'm not locked in here with you. You're locked in here with ME." moment.

Titus is definitely a null. A blank. He's an anathema to the warp and warp entities. They loath his presence or massively underestimate him in battle. In the 40k lore people have an natural distrust and feel incredibly uncomfortable around nulls, resulting in weaker mortals tend to hunt down and kill nulls or banish them from communities. Probably why his fellow Astartes are deeply suspicious of Titus' presence and his immunity against psykers and even daemons. His incarceration by the Inquisition proved fruitless. Their frustration built up when they believed he couldve only defeated a greater deamon with unholy assistance was finally proved to be not warranted even after all the interrogation methods at their disposal. Even in Space Marine 2, psykers lost their minds immediately when Titus turned up. His mentor fears Titus because of his rage and zero fear. This misguided fear of Titus from his mentor is eating away at his judgement, believing like others that Titus could fall to Chaos if unchecked, but in fact the opposite is true. This latest mission against Tzeentch was organised by Chaplin Leandros who probably has aims of finally solving his Titus "problem" with an mission absolute. This is a clue at the end of Space Marine 2. Basically a suicide mission orchestrated by Leandros, but obviously Titus is a hard Astartes to kill off. The only question left is how far Leandros is willing to go to kill his former Captain.

Titus has got to be a psychic null. The fact crazy warp shit always happens to him and hes like, "lol, magics not real" and then punches them to death is the evidence lol. But i feel like the question at the end is answered for us. A soul like that is capable of unwavering loyalty and a life spent in service of the imperium of man.

The Tzaangors aren't really daemons but corrupted beastmen which are mutants. They look very daemonic though so yeah.

Old man in the coffin (for his own protection) is probably one of three things, I think. Priest, Blank, or Psyker, I'm leaning towards blank though. I always imagined their little aura of... self racism? would be a bubble

The part where oily Titus fought back and grabbed the sorcerer's staff (that was freezing time in the bubble in the real world), and it actually BROKE the staff in the real world (where real world Titus was still frozen)- means, to me at least, Titus= undiagnosed psyker. Titanic will giving influence of Chaos a titanic NOPE. Grey Knight Candidate matierial... with one Big Problem: A Psyker that got through the Space Marine Aquisition Process undetected, unsanctioned... So um, Yikes. but a downright Juicy story arc

Love it!! Only problem is that no space marine chapter would ever willingly send marines into suicide missions. That's what the guard is for. The geneseed and armor value alone would prevent that, not to mention the plasma pistol and power weapons which are more than likely considered chapter relics. Other than that loved it.
