I actually think that in the riddle-expaining scene at the end the prince allready figured it all out but is still a bit confused about everything so he just lets her confirm to him he's right

This was a great video about one of our best fairy tales! One detail I think you missed when talking about the scene where the stepmother takes the whip is the non-verbal implication. The stepmother and Dora hear a crack and they rush into the kitchen, the stepmother sees the kitchen boy on the ground with the shards of the bowl, and so she picks up the whip and comes closer. As she approaches, Cinderella sweeps in to help him pick it up. Then, when the stepmother asks who broke the bowl, Cinderella takes the blame. Immediately after that, the stepmother folds and puts away the whip. This is a great character building moment for Cinderella because she knows that the boy will be punished harshly, but if she takes the blame, her punishment will not be as severe, because even if the stepmother is cruel enough to use corporal punishment on a servant, she will not outright whip her stepdaughter. This shows that Cinderella is kind enough to sacrifice herself, but she is also clever and thinks fast on her feet. Also, there is this channel on YT that has better translations of this movie as well as several other famous Czech fairy tales in case you wanted to check them out! Though sadly, some of the other greatest hits are missing, and are hard to come by online. www.youtube.com/@cztoeng835 Jak se budí princezny (How princesses are woken up) is a take on Sleeping Beauty. Zlatovláska (Rapunzel) Byl jednou jeden král (There once was a king) is a take on King Lear Princezna ze mlejna (Princess from a mill) is an original tale. All of them are very good!

Glad you enjoyed, and thank you so much for the suggestions and insight! I've seen multiple versions of the stepmother who had no qualms using physical punishment on Cinderella, so that may have colored my interpretation of the scene.

That hunting scene always makes me sad, not matter how many times I watched this film - and I'm from Germany, it's a Christmas classic here since ...50 years by now? Not that I'm that old lol, but since the film came out in 1973. They actually used two foxes in that scene, one, who was trained and tame, and another was "ordered" dead a few months prior filming that scene. The dead animal was kept deep-frozen until that day, that's why he is so stiff (which he normally wouldn't be of course). But still, for a sensitive person like me, and you this is hard to watch in any case :) plus, the music also does it part ;)

😂 This film was shot in a time when nearly every child has seen a rabbit, a chicken or even a pig slaughtered in the garden many times. So showing hunting wasn't that controversial. 😅

I stumbled upon your channel from the FTT shorts (and probably from the algorithm, too). I appreciate your thoughts and opinions on the various versions of Cinderella, as there are so many versions out there and beloved by many. There is one version that I vaguely remembered when I was very young, and it was done using stop motion. The story was told with no dialogues, but through music. Now, from yt, I finally learned it was called Cosgrove / Halls Cinderella (1979).

Thank you for the kind words, and for the suggestion! ❤ That is one I'm not familiar with, but I have a soft spot for stop motion so I'll definitely have to look it up!

@@EmilyRitcheson this is the link I've found. The comments section do say they couldn't hear it, but I had a suspicion it was because they were watching from phones. I played it on my laptop and it's alright. kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z2G4dH2in5d_r80si=5aZPBxwxLj-Gshih

Holy shit! Have never seen that fox scene before 😮! Think it might have been removed in newer version? or at least in the Norwegian version.
