Looks great! Small recommendation though, if the lightbulb above your drafting table is an incandescent bulb, I would either relocate it away from your thermostat or switch it out for an LED. Incandescent bulbs give off quite a bit of heat which could cause your shop to be colder in the winter due to the thermostat thinking it's warmer than it is, and your AC could run longer in the summer because the thermostat will think it's not cooling the space off. You want your thermostat to be getting as much of the natural temp in your shop as you can.

Are you saying he's easier to watch in dark mode?
@JimGriffOne Жыл бұрын
In terms of the lighting, you could try a dual lighting setup - diffuse and focussed (directional). This would give you an ability to see your work from different perspectives. Diffuse lighting would show the overall colour and aesthetic of the piece, but the focussed light would give you a greater ability to see the details of the piece, much like looking at it in the sunlight. That's what I'd do anyway! Just started watching the video, so will see what you do with the area. :)

Looks great! You may should have painted the wall behind the boards black. That way when the wood warps and the cracks open a little you won't see white. 🤗 And for the air compressor, how are you going to be able to drain the condensation? You don't want to allow all that water to collect in your tank. You could plumb in a pipe down the wall and attach a valve at the end?
@craigsummerville8823 Жыл бұрын
Will, since you seem to be aiming for an isolated work space here how about some protection from dust and debris? You could hang either a shower rod and curtains for the open walls or find some track and curtains like those used in surgeries/emergency wards at surplus auctions. It wouldn’t keep all of the stuff out but it could help and be flexible enough to leave it open while you work in there. The space is really looking good and I look forward to its continuing progress.

Just getting my shop electrified. The office section is done, and I'm getting it organized. The Metal shop side is ready for lighting. The Wood shop side needs a lot of tools and stuff moved to let the electrician install the lights. I'm almost seventy, and sometimes wonder why I'm doing this. I don't need an income... I do like making stuff though, and maybe I can have folks come in to use the shop and learn a bit of what I have learned. Way out east in Levels, West Virginia.

You sir are a talented knife maker/blacksmith. Your general construction skills, however, still need some help. For example, based on your video and audio commentary, it appears that you ran your air hose through your furnace duct and then taped up around the hose to “seal” the opening? If so, please remove it before it catches on fire and fills your shop with acrid smoke.

@Ryan-wu4ol you're welcome. As for when are you old, it's relative. Anyone older than you will call you young, anyone younger than you will call you old. If you REALLY want to feel old ask a child that measures their age in fingers on one hand. When they realize you need more than 2 hands their minds blow. You are not really old until you run out of people older than you to call you young.

That's not a switch, it's a manual starter. How many amps do you need to powder off the starter? Do you actually have any 240v 3/0 power needs in this new area? Do you actually have 3 phase to your shop? You may want to get your buddy the electrician out to take a look. Hate saying this, but I think your wiring your area in violation of Code.......
