6 fookin grand ????? That my friend is a seriously dry ravishing. Ouch. However on a happier note….. You my man are a genius. Retaining the rs3 dash cluster was absolutely amazing foresight. Don’t think it’s too far a stretch of the imagination to realise whatever you do will be spot on. It will work better than original and as with everything else you do, it will be done to the highest standard. What sets you apart from others is your realism. You don’t throw hyper ££££ at fixes or mods. You do them at the most realistic cost you can, which makes your content even more relevant and relatable to us ‘normal’ folk. This series hasn’t disappointed in the slightest. I thought it would be a banger and it’s proving to be more interesting, and is showing us more work arounds than I ever imagined. Your a seriously talented and skilled fella. And it’s a joy to watch you work your magic and see this fantastic series come along.

A lot of those parts can be found on pattern to be fair. Audi/VW get all a significant bulk of their parts made out of house, so trip to Euros, trip to the breakers, find a harness and cut all the ends you need. Repair and remake brackets. Look forward to seeing the hustle!

Those broken electrical connectors are made by TE Connectivity. Each connector will take various size wire gauges, and have different pins to suit. Part number is on the connector, be aware each connector may have several different 'key' options, to stop you mixing them up. If you can't get the correct keyed connector, file the key off. Some connectors in the TE range are 'restricted sale', and you can't buy them. they can be had for less than 10 quid a set. Good luck !

The instrument cluster plugs are the same because they are on the vw mqb platform. Also your old instrument cluster was coded to the car , when you replaced the cluster you used one that was not coded to the car so it might show safe on the screen and block itself, it will just turn on but more than half of the functions will not work anymore.

Definitely worth finding a blown engine cheapish ( it can’t cost to much for a useless engine ) and swapping the parts you need, looking forward to seeing it running 👍🏼

Dean, why not just have the alternator overhauled? We do alternators and starters all the time here in South Africa at a fraction of the cost of a new one, and if you use quality parts they are just as good as new.

Hopefully you can take the guts out of the RS3 clocks and put them inside the outer covers from the Octavia clocks 🤞🤞. P.S. When you rebuild a calliper like that, you should fit the calliper, bleed it up and have pressure on the hydraulic circuit before you ever move the wee lever for the handbrake. Not entirely sure why but if you don’t do it that way it can upset the ratchet mechanism for the handbrake side and then the piston will fully retract every time the foot brake is released which gives horrible long pedal travel. When you buy rebuilt callipers there’s usually a label tied to them which warns you about this. Good luck with the hunt for parts to reduce the costs on this project. The price of that lot was pretty shocking!

If you can keep the RS3 dash for the octavia, I would do it, looks much cleaner than the Skoda ones.

Aircon, alternator not work of the 2.0 engine you took out? Also hope you have the rs3 key ..that might get you out of needing to remove the immobilizer ,🙅🏽‍♀️

Dean, get on autodoc for all of those parts. You might have to wait a week or 2 for delivery but you'll pay button's in comparison to Audi.

is there no possibility to let that alternator rebuild ?? same for that aircopump and what about that bend inlet manifold ? just heat it up and try to push back the dent !!!! i really think you can save a lot off money without going down on quality ...buy the way i am a mecanic with 40 years in the field ..Keep up the good work Dean

Chances are you need the skoda body control module (or however skoda calls it) in on the immobilizer setup as well. No idea how hard it will be. Maybe it will be easier to have the mechatronix and ECM flashed on the bench with the stock tune. With some luck you won't need a password for that? Again, not sure how VAG does this but many brands will not allow you to read out something with a password but you can just bruteforce erase the actual chips and put a stock flash back in without any password requirements.

Just buy the some rs3 engine but a blown one and get the parts from it to the damage one, I would guess a blown engine is cheaper. Anyway, amazing build from the red Octavia to the white to the rs3 engine, I am loving it and can't wait to see that white beast roar🤣. It would be really cool to have the RS3 dial on the Octavia 🤪🤪

Your guess is probably better than mine. The only thing I know for sure is that it is usually much more expensive than you think. One way might be to buy another crashed RS3 and sell what you don't need.

Hi if anyone can help me I have audi rs3 2018 was driving perfectly until was parked for 2 months outdoor cover parking the battery got flat and had acid lead on terminal we started the car with jumpers the car temperature going high and fan is coming very loud other mechanic saying to buy new battery other saying bleed the pipe please advise thanks

I don't see why the ecu and the tcu would be an issue if they belong to that engine and gearbox. The issue will be pairing the bcm to the ecu because the bcm controls all the locks and alarm system. The only other issue I can think of is vcds not liking the modded firmware. If you know anyone with the official Audi laptop you could borrow you can reprogram the modules so long as you can connect to them.

It’s only an issue because of the immobiliser in the dash clocks. But because I’ve managed to plug the rs3 clocks in I’m hoping that will pass immob and let it start 🙌🏼

6k is a big chunk of change BUT I suspect 50% of that is the a/c compressor and alternator....... Looking forward to seeing it running and driving tho - it's going to be a weapon!

£500 for what looked like a "pressed" steel sump pan....... That's borderline criminal! Still the a/c compressor is nearly a bargain! (I do try and look for the "positives" in any given situation) it's a cracking project & a good direction to take your channel....... There are so many KZbinrs involved in the "my salvage rebuild cost more than yours" race - they are collectively becoming "un relatable" and I for one am starting to lose interest........ kind regards David

VAG Group aluminium calipers are the biggest pile of crap out there because of them being made from aluminium and where the groove is that the dust boot fits into gets corrosion into it forces the dust boot that tightly against the piston it stops the piston from retracting back into the housing you will know it's happening when you come to do a pad change and the inner pad is worn down a lot more than the outer pad, I always keeps various caliper rebuild kits for these cars in my toolbox, I must do on average couple of golfs and Octavia's a week because of this problem.

You can just flash the ECU's back to stock to get around that issue. Not surprised at the cost from Audi. Its RS tax. Look second hand

We couldn’t flash them back to stock off the the car. That’s why we needed the dash clocks to work so it would talk to them and then flash back to stock through obd. 🙌🏼
