She’s a graphic designer, right? When I went to college for graphic design we had it drilled into us from the start that you never say “you” or “i” when presenting your work. You always say “we” because even though you may have made that one specific piece of the project, it is a collaborative process so credit is due to everyone. So I always say the same thing when talking about something creative I did out of habit now even when I mainly was the one who did everything. It’s a total grammar thing 😂 at least that’s my theory 😂

ok so I've definitely known that was a wall vent all along BUT some houses (especially in older victorians or farmhouses, where the entire house had to be really functional) have wall vents like that instead of windows in the attic! they help keep the attic aired out and from getting too hot during the summer
@Montisaquadeis2 жыл бұрын
Agreed they are being used as VENTS for the attic in many older homes so yes you do see them high up on the outside like Deli normally uses them so thats is a perfectly reasonable thing to use them for any many people use them for that purpose as well.

I love a realistic renovation. It’s so expensive to move plumbing or change around walls too much. Nice touch with keeping the wood floors! Also interesting about pool fences in Australia. It makes a lot of safety sense, but yeah, we totally don’t have that in America.
@justjake94692 жыл бұрын
I was like, "where would you put a fence? Ah, there you put a fence around a pool." We don't have them in Europe either (at least I've never seen them in the Netherlands, or other European countries on holiday).
@tenntea29102 жыл бұрын
Actually, I think that depends on what part of America you are from. I know a lot places around here require them for insurance purposes and most people with small children I know have them.
@alkemi55222 жыл бұрын
@@justjake9469 True but also here in Europe we fence literally our whole yard/garden/property, at least where I live. So technically it's fenced in a way.
@junerussell69722 жыл бұрын
Our (United States) house insurance requires that we have a fence around our pool, but it doesn't have to be right around the pool. Ours is along the property line (cutting in at the side of the house so that the front yard isn't included) with the pool in the middle of the backyard. That way the neighbor's 3-year-old can't wander in (but if we had kids, they'd still be at risk.) The gate is supposed to be locked (because a neighbor's 3-year-old did get into the pool of one of our neighbors, through an unlocked gate. Found too late, too. Very sad!)

Where I live in New York you need at least a 6 foot fence around a pool but it can also just be your entire yard is fenced with a 6 ft fence so not the pool area directly. It's basically a legal loophole to have the "no fence" look as long as the entire yard is completely fenced in (with the right height)
@purpledragonfly42 жыл бұрын
Yeah we didn't have to have a fence directly around our pool as we have a completely fenced in yard. They did require we have a fold up ladder.

@kandirain_11722 жыл бұрын
It's funny what "farmhouse" means in different countries. Basically, in America, "farmhouse" is definitely going to be wood not brick. It comes from the fact that when the Colonizers came over, there was an abundance of trees to make homes but not as much stone. Modern farmhouses stick to that format for the most part. They are usually wood or siding that looks like wood.

I find it hilarious how people go to extremes to get things just right. And when I look at all of the towns, castles, so on and so forth, that were abandoned and left to rot. As far as I'm concerned? Give me a roof, a kitchen, a bathroom, bedrooms, living room, so on and so forth. But make sure it's durable and functional, the beauty can sit in the background. As long as it gets me through my sixty to eighty years of life, before I go to in nursing home and die, simply is awesome for me. Forget all of this matching wallpaper and flooring. LOL! Please don't get me wrong, I can appreciate the more than capable eyes of Deligracy, she does a great job with these builds that she does. But simply and usable is more important to me. I'm a realist. It is what an optimist calls a pessimist. Major LOL!

These types of houses came up in the fifties. And times where money was easy to get, but people didn't have unlimited resources, as well. And over the years the style has been modified, otherwise there's no specific period that it belongs to, as far as I know. This style can be seen in tightly packed neighborhoods, or spread out over long back roads. This style is easy to design, build, and maintain, allowing families to grow and disperse, as needs arise. This style can be seen all over America.
