Very neat concept, i think the film industry is a bit scared of really embracing the concept of the remake, if we will be getting shitty remakes no matter what you may as well experiment, cast the same actors and change the plot in key parts to tell a different story, that sounds fun, and as you said the comic book material really suits this type of experimentation.

My ideal sequel would've had Kite Man somewhere in it. He worked for Joker in the past, he's built up quite a cult following, his absurdity would play well as an overzealous goon, like there's no reason to NOT use Kite Man unless you just aren't invested in the Batman/Joker lore

i was only familiar with jason as the red hood, so it's fascinating to hear the joker has also been an iteration of the red hood. i think my headcanon (or maybe it was actual canon, 2019 was a while ago) was that arthur doesn't actually kill bruce's parents in Joker 2019 & it's someone else dressed in clown makeup who does it. i guess my point is that it's cool to peel back the layers of superheroes/villains and remember any identity can be taken on by anyone... or something

I like the first one but I knew they could only get away with that version once before they either had to add in more comic elements or break apart trying to avoid them.

Nah. I liked Joker 2 in concept (never bought Arthur Fleck as the real Joker) the idea of the Joker persona manifesting in other people to the people where Arthur wants to abandon it is interesting on paper. Plus it explains why comic joker is more interested in personas than who people are on the inside. But the musical stuff just felt like padding. It would have been better if they worked on the script instead of trying to shove in 15 covers in one movie.

Honestly I think Joker 2 is an ironic masterpiece. It's just a massive fuck you to Warner Bros and a bigger fuck you to people taking the character seriously in his ideals. Tarantino restated a lot of the things I said in my review so I think I got it right.
