This movie is basically if the Superman we all loved from our childhoods who inspired hope, and friendship, and optimism was dropped into the world of 'The Boys' and he teaches them to do the right thing by leading by example. Words cannot express how perfect this idea is.

James Gunn just makes better films, period. I think his real strength is how much he gets you to care about the characters. I don't know anyone that wasn't worried when king shark fell out of the tower in his suicide squad movie. Same with rocket. James gunn is also doing creature commandos which has been great so far, I recommend. We see clay face a lot in Harley Quinn and even in the lastest episode of CC, I think he's probably just a hard concept to get right with cgi for the big screen

Thank you for acknowledging that MoS, BvS and ZSJL are absolutely a trilogy. BvS is as sequel to MoS in every possible way and JL is a sequel to BvS in every possible way. The only thing that would hold them back from being a trilogy is the clear desire to set up yet another film or several. (I'm not a fan of these films but every time someone says they want a sequel to MoS I'm just like what the hell do you think BvS is?)

as soon as they showed doomsday in the bvs trailer, i knew for a certainty they did not know what they were doing.... this is the first time batman and superman are meeting in a legitimate live-action movie - that in itself should be the main event.... and you feel you need to throw in doomsday (essentially crowbarring in the death of superman arc) all into one movie... sheeeeesh

I completely agree with you, I don't hate Zach snyder and in fact I respect the hell out of him for choosing to leave justice league originally for the sake of taking care of his family. Why are they using the John Williams Superman theme? For the same reason Star Wars, Indiana Jones, and 007 still use tgeir respective themes. It is synonymous with their respective characters. Superman is incomplete without that theme music.

Gunn fired Cavill burned the entire DCEU to the ground, saved his own actors and fast tracked his own projects, has effectively sabotaged Reeves. I have absolutely zero intention of giving a Gunn a penny, however I highly doubt this is accurate if they have fired Cavill, Gal and Ben, the superman movie needs to absolutely incredible, I have no doubt it will smash the box office and Gunn will do whatever he can to control the narrative. I hope others enjoy it but a Parody Superman, after we had such a grounded and realistic take on the character is not something I’m remotely interested in. Hope others enjoy it

Snyder isn't a good director. He is GREAT at cinematography though. I think he's been destined to do a punisher or max Payne movie but after army of the dead, I gave up on him.

What i know about james is that he make the guardians who they are. no metter what clothes they put on u will connet with them. And if he made the character so iconic that no metter what his suit is. We will always love him and connect with his. That would make the best superman movie. Just my simple wise.

They are fundamentally different directors. They are capable of collaborating. Snyder needs to encapsulate and canonize any past elements in his current works by reshooting them, which can be exhausting. And in a movie where every minute counts, imho I’d opt for new content over near-beat-for-beat retelling bf if I want to watch The Dark Knight or Batman Begins, then I’ll do just that. Hearing Hans Zimmer compete against himself with the BvS Batman theme rings hollow and completely distracts from the enjoying the movie. It’s an odd choice to make if WB and DC wanted to dovetail with The Dark Knight Rises, which could have been perfect-a Gotham that’s irradiated from the nuclear blast could explain how super powered beings like poison ivy or clay face occur in a grounded world like Nolan’s Dark knight trilogy is a missed opportunity for a bold statement jumping off point into Superman movies. Nolan even left the minimum framework needed for that with the one-off mention of nearby Metropolis in Batman Begins. Which is why rumours of Gunn bringing The Batman into the DC Studios canon imho a great idea. Fans are smart enough to handle having the same Batman exist in a grounded world of Gotham and fantastical world of the Justice League. The world’s greatest detective ought to know when he’s dealing with street levels punks and gangsters vs. times he’s needed to fight larger than life supernatural or alien monsters. But I digress. Gunn simply allows what has happened to coexist with current canon, albeit in nuanced ways. Snyder has a niche penchant for basically cycling audiences with setup and no satisfying payoff. Gunn rewards intrepid viewers with satisfying payoffs for fans who seek out more from the material. Ultimately, Gunn is the most well balanced and highly talented person who has ever been at the helm of DC films to date. It’s the smartest thing for DC to do, which may not have happened if Disney didn’t alienate Gunn with that wine cancellation nonsense. Gunn’s not a one trick pony, like other directors such as Todd Philips. And Gunn’s confortable coexisting with established lore while weaving new and fresh ideas in a way that trusts the audience to understand what’s going on with their favourite characters. Great video. I wonder why Gunn's biggest defenders always have to use Snyder as a measuring stick or comparison? Ultimately, they are directors with completely different styles. One is a joke-less comedian and the other takes the stories more seriously, treating them like gods among men. If Snyder wasn't that good, why do they always have to mention him in every project related to Gunn? Why not Donner or Singer? At the end of the day, even if it hurts them, in 10 years people will still be talking about Man Of Steel while this project that looks extremely mediocre will be forgotten

99% of movie goers are not looking at the Easter eggs or fine details of a movie, their looking at the quality of the film, if the story line makes sense, if the acting is good, those are all key things to a movie. Snyder Superman checked all the boxes, judging off the trailer for James Superman the quality is bad, it’s childish looking.

That's also why Rebel Moon was so criticized, they set up so many things and the payoff is non-existent or contrary to the setup, and he's been doing that since MoS.

Both have merit. I am more Gunn than Synder. I like what Synder did, but overall the story was the weakest part and that kinda put me off. Too much stuff that made no sense. Also didn't really enjoy the version of Batman he made. Gunn does weird shit characters which no one knows, but then makes them memorable and enjoyable, like with the Guardians.
