@@StoneCoatCountertops Not sure yet. Have to decide whether to build my cabinets out of walnut or birch. Walnut being dark and birch being light, I want the countertops to contrast. I LOVE walnut but just don't know yet. Wife will decide. Have been watching your vids for years and at first I was like don't know about this. But over time I've become a big fan. I was really sold when Mike did the torture test for the kitchen. I plan on making up a small panel and setting a hot pizza pan, hot pan etc... to test for myself. Yeah, very impressed. I say of all the jobs you did I love this table top number #1 BEST ! I've always loved exotic pours and i did one once with whit marble. But the colors seemed to blend together to much even though I did not stir the mixed blend in the bucket as warned. Have you ever tried or thought of pouring all the mixed colors into paint roller pan pouring them maybe in long ribbons across the pan attempting to not mix colors up. Hoping to have color sections just laying there alone without blending colors together YET. . Now when you pour the colors out from the pan all the ribbon rows will flow together as poured. Take note you have the option to pour at the corner of the paint roller pan or pour from one of the flat spots of pan.

@@StoneCoatCountertops if you like the shiny stage the best can you do that instead? Would the shiny stage be scratch resistant and durable? Thanks
@WandereringFamily1232 жыл бұрын
@@stilly88888888 Just FYI we did this for our countertops and left them shiny. They looked like glass and were great at first - but after a while, it was noticeable where we used them more and wiped them off and where they were still pristine. I think if I were going to do it again I would definitely use something like the topcoat they show here. It takes it more to a matte finish but that would be much more likely to last and stay the same everywhere in the kitchen rather than trying to maintain a liquid finish. In the end we had to sand everything down with 1000 grit and leave all our countertops a matte finish so that they all looked the same.

With the top coat you sand the imperfections out before applying. I'm sure there were some in there. For my small projects I built a cabinet to put things in to minimize floaters.
@keyshine57693 жыл бұрын

What did you do top get the top smooth? I used this over a counter top I made for our bathroom and it has a definite texture to it. I called Feb 1 to ask if I did something wrong and was told that I did everything correctly and this finish has a definite texture to it. The nice lady on the phone told me she got the same results I did and the orange peel finish is normal. I asked if this could be sanded smokth and she said yes but I would likely need to start with 60 grit and work my way up. I bought this to avoid having to do that! Sure would have been nice to know I was not going to get the same results you did on the dining table and bathroom counter you did in the 4 part videos.
