What a time capsule gem. The two tone color scheme looks great so you had a great platform to start your restoration. Also on the front plate. My classic ford truck, I had the original dealer logo plate from when it was new on the front bumper, but I didn't want it to get destroyed. I went to a local sign shop and had them scan and update the plate without the original wear, then I had a couple copies made and I rock those on the truck while the original is being kept safe in my garage as wall art. Love this truck, and the story. I have two vehicles owned by my relatives who are gone and I treasure them greatly

The 4th Z is a definer of part number a different 4th digit is the design number that may be found on the part. The C5TZ you own may have a B8TZ (1958) brake drum etc. as that was the first year that part was used. I hope this info helps you!

I owned a 66 F100 Custom Cab in 1978 after I got my license. It looked pretty much that color. Mine had the 352 V8 4 speed manual transmission. But it had the white spoked rims. Which had 10X15 tires in the front and 11X15 in the back. It had a little cut off on the front fenders to accommodate big tires on turns. It did not have power brake booster. I took a under dash A/C unit from our 64 Galaxie, so it did have A/C. After 10 years I restored my Dads 68 F100 360 V8 C6 automatic transmission. I sold the 66 to pay for the restore. I love the 68 and still drive it. But every time I look at the old photo, I miss the 66. It was a cool truck. It was reliable too. So, is the 68 as we'll.

Would be nice if can wash and wax the front plate to preserve it. If wanted to put a winch on the front instead of the tow hitch? Heavier duty shocks for the front but that give somewhat of a soft ride. If some how can fix the original windshield and new seals around the windshield to doesn't leak. I'd put Gunk on the engine compartment and rinse it off. Doesn't have to be a fancy job. Just have to watch some wiring. If want can put fog lights on the front?

Great video. Love the old truck. I would bet the engine is a 390, though. The 352 would not have been enough for someone into racing engines. The 352 was better at BU Ning had than making power. If you plan to cruise it a lot, I'm sort of surprises you stayed with the 3 speed auto, and especially a light duty C-4. The mechanical AOD as used in the 351 Panthers is a simple bolt in, and is string enough, with the Trailer Tow III Package upgrade, to handle up to 500 lb/ft of torque. The car version also has the linkage to work with a carburetor.

The V8 engine for 1965 was the 352 CI. The engine was black with gold valve covers. The engine in your truck is blue which means it is probably a later model, so it could well be a 390. The 352 and 390 were both FE engines so it would be a direct fit for that truck.

The casting number will get you no where. All FE big blocks are cast as 352s unless it’s an Edsel. They didn’t stamp vins on them either. I’d be very surprised if this was a 390. It wouldn’t make much sense imo. People go the other direction and put a 352 in to replace a 390 because there were so many cars and trucks with the 352. You’ll need to check physical bore if you dig in that far to figure it out. That truck is the camper special, and the 352 is the correct engine for that option code. Also, as soon as I saw the full green tint windshield I knew it had the AC option. Your truck is a queen, lots of options!
