I made a trip to Porto, Portugal, with my two friends Ryanne and Michelle! We hit the streets, had good food, good port, met up with locals for the Portugal - Belgium soccer match (through tinder !!) and went shopping!

My sister did a bucket list trip to Hawaii while she was battling stage IV colon cancer and she had similar issues with stamina. Take it slow and take it all in. :) Some times just sitting on a bench and watching the people and things going on around you can be good for the soul. I am so glad that you were able to get this trip in before your hospital stay for your stem cell transplant.

As someone who lives in Porto, it's not J. K. Library, it's one if not the oldest bookshop in the city. Fun fact, the writer took inspiration from the traditional uniform that university students wear in Porto, if you have the opportunity to see one you will see how similar it is to what hogwarts students use. Specifically the long black cloak that we wear 😂

@@RomeeDussenbroek if you want to see just type in the Google "traje universitário universidade do Porto" you will see photos and I'm actually surprised you didn't saw because almost everyone who is graduating is wearing even more because the lello library is literally one or two meters away from the main building of the university 😂 The bookstore is amazing and beautiful, but j. K never actually said that she took inspiration from there. If I'm not wrong she has already said that PS. You have a very strong stomach to be able to eat francesinha as breakfast 😂

@@RomeeDussenbroek I will try to explain it the best way, the year is already over some are still having exams but we have no classes. The thing with the uniform is that technically you can wear it anytime and people who have activities in the university like singing in the tuna (not the fish it's just like a choir 😂) or attending gatherings have to use it and those activities can be anytime any day. And we are just very proud of our uniforms so sometimes we use it even when it's not necessary. If you wanted you could have visited the main building of the university we even have a gift shop believe it or not 😂 It's a pretty cool thing, you can see peoples bachelor or their ranking just by how they are wearing their capes, if you see photos you will also see that most of them have emblems because we can and it's basically a tradition to decorate them with patches from our families and friends Plus, when you wear the cape over your shoulders damn I feel like Snape walking the corridors of hogwarts with the cape flowing 😂

I am wondering, in Germany, with a cancer diagnosis, you get a temporary disability pass, which would get you into places faster and get you other accomodations to conserve energy, or lend a wheelchair or get help when needed.

@Patricia Fuchs I don't know what your problem is, Patricia, but the question is absolutely valid. As a cancer patient you do get - in most cases - a disability pass for a few years until you are officially healed. I too would like to know if that is the case in NL as well.

I mean, I got a disability pass but it got approved after I went through chemo so it didn't really help me during the process. But yes, it is nice to have it afterwards.

@@marie-elainestein2633 I did not want to cause any trouble, I got 70 % and walking disabled after my three brain surgeries which resulted in some lasting neurological deficits (first got only 40 % and no walking disability recognition, but after written appeal, they added the things, which is usual procedure, most of the times) , and it got bumped up to 100 % after a tumor diagnosis, so maybe having it bumped up is easier than initial application for it. Maybe it even depends on which area you are in or which caseworker you get or how your medical documentation is worded… for me and a friend, it was a bit of back and forth but until her chemo was almost done, she had her pass in hand. We both applied for it right after diagnosis, as the social worker suggested. Her diagnosis was a few weeks before mine, and hers is a well known sort, mine is a super rare sort, and not good for chemo, so surgeries and constant screenings for new growths and more surgery is my course for however long this disease is with me. Same as Steve jobs had, only he waited way too long until surgery, and mine got discovered by chance at an earlier stage, looking for something different. I would have had my oncological rehab already, had there not been an endocrine surgery and an orthopedic surgery that needed immediate taking care of first. Will have my social worker start that rehab process Tuesday, when I have my checkup appointment in the onco department anyway. No need writing in all caps, @Patricia Fuchs. Also no need of accusing me to know nothing/have no idea. I understand, it is bitter to know, that a loved one has a cancer diagnosis, but still no need to lash out to someone, who asked an innocent question.

That would be so helpful. Here in the US you have to go through a bunch of bologna to get any help at all...then most of the time they turn you down the first request for sure, then you have to do an appeal, jump through hoops and wait for nearly 6 months before you even hear back, then they request you send more information, be seen by their own doctors, pretty much be nearly dead before they might decide to approve a person for any type of state or govmt help. The bigger university specialists and hospitals are better with care programs, but a person still has to be nearly destitute to get aid. Health insurance is so high, even if people have it, it doesn't cover the whole bill(s) anyway. So if you have to pay 20% of a hospital/cancer bill, it would still be in the thousands. Health care here is probably the highest anywhere...pretty sad for the average very low to medium income citizens which make up a huge part of the country, plus the ones living below the poverty line, which make up an unbelievable huge amount too. The Bible says that mankind can't rule themselves, and besides all the other ways to see its obvious, health care here proves it too. 😑

Alone for its healthcare system and the mostly free quality education young families with children should seriously consider to come to the EU. No hospital bills, no student loans.

I only ask this because I struggle with this personally as a fellow cancer survivor, but why do you allow yourself to drink alcohol and not allow yourself to eat red meat? I have stopped drinking after my treatments because alcohol is a known carcinogen, but wondering if your situation is different.

That's a common misconception about Portuguese people. We may understand one or two words in a whole sentence. It's too different. And some words that actually look alike could have a completely different meaning. And pronouns and verbs are totally different.
