Comet Leonard gives me some sort of nostalgia when I look at old photos when it was on the way, it was the first comet I was exited for, saw it once through my telescope and never again even though I tried, I didn’t get to see Neowise, Leonard also was the first comet to make me realize that not all comets are visible with the naked eye, but now there’s a new comet on the way and hope I get a chance of seeing one again. It’s like I want to experience it again

This is why I love photography. If I can't make it out to get a photo, someone probably will! Love that you were able to get a last chance view of Comet Leonard, I was stuck at home for work, and even though I made several attempts nearby, we had overcast skies every time. But I got NEOWISE back in 2020. I was out every clear night until the comet faded. And that kicked my interest in astrophotography into full swing. Sometimes We fail, and We must, so when We succeed, It feels all the more worth the troubles. Thank you for sharing, and hope you have a good new year!

Thanks for inspiring me about the nightsky and taking me on these trips via KZbin. I bought a used Star Adventurer after I got hooked on your videos and tried some fixed tripod shots for deep-sky objects that I would stack (obligatory Andromeda of course). Additionally, I learnt about Neowise from you and got that pretty late due to bad weather. Leonard is unfortunately one I could not get due to the weather. Thanks for the inspirations and showing me the amazing night skies everytime you upload a video.

It was refreshing to see some of your real-world behind-the-scenes frustrations, like your timelapse camera thinking ISO 100 was the best auto setting, the farmer’s bright light, and the rock slide road closure. These are typical examples of obstacles that astrophotographers need to overcome, which makes the resulting image(s) only that much more rewarding.

Since I subscribed to your channel, I find myself observing the passing of time through celestial events. I've been hyper-sensitive to the sun since my 20's, but now I can no longer expose my skin to sunlight or wear sunscreen, so becoming a night owl seems a logical progression. The night is peaceful and introspective, and in these trying times, I've found a new sense of being where I'm supposed to be, when the time is right for me to be there, and accepting that we all fit where we belong. Thank you for that, and thank you for the images that fill my mind with such beauty.

Be glad you got it Alyn, I wasn't able to capture it at all living above the arctic circle and not really wanting to fly anywhere. We have so few clear skies the last two months and the comet was far too low in the horizon to see anything. However, I did capture some epic sunrises in late November early December. My last sunrise shot was at 1:30 PM December 6th... yes I'm that far north. Your compositions are always inspiring.

Alyn, amazing video as always. Unfortunate that you didn't manage to get the 'bucket shot' that you were after but thankfully you managed to get a stellar image of Comet Leonard. You nailed it really well. Great location too. I was stuck in Germany but got just the one "clear" night, headed to the darkest spot I could find in the east, and ... -10°C, with a blanket of fog just thick enough to obscure it completely. But, on the return journey I found a higher spot in an otherwise flat landscape, stopped and picked it up in just one shot although I couldn't see it with the naked eye. Them's the breaks. Rock on, Alyn. Really enjoying your work

Loved your final image showing you looking out towards the heavens. I keep wondering why we try to photograph the night skies? We run into so many obstacles including unexpected lights, road closures, people driving up leaving car lights on and oh yes, the weather. The reason we photograph the night skies, our memories observing celestial phenomena and the challenges while trying to capture once in a life time experiences. Unfortunately, I missed the comet. I live in Massachusetts in the US and the comet set before sunset OR clouds, clouds and more clouds. Thanks for sharing your video

Fantastic shots Alyn! Incredible the way you put this together. I share your frustration with the farmer - as one who lives in an agricultural region of central Canada, farm lights are prolific and ruin dark skies. However they are put there because of thieves. When you live in the country you are sometimes hours away from police protection so rural theft is a huge problem. Big lights help a little. But it does hinder the night. Anyway, Cheers mate! Looking forward to your next vid.

Great shots! I only got a couple of shots of Leonard as we were clouded over the whole time I was out, except for a half-hour window one morning. I was taking wide sky shots so I could find the comet and zoom in for "real" shots. I got several shots, and before I could find it in the frame it was clouded over. I only saw that I got it when I got home and put it on the computer, but I at least got a keepsake picture. Thankfully, I got a few nights of awesome stuff from NEO

I don't know how you handled it off camera, but on camera, your demeanor was exemplary. It's sobering to see you take it in stride. Thank you. You asked which image viewers liked best.
