I Flew My Drone Into The Clouds | DJI Mavic Air 2

I really enjoyed this my friend. Too bad the DJI app won't allow us to fly above 500 meters. These drones are capable of flying up to several kilometers up, but the app limits us. I have seen some use third party apps to be able to reach higher altitudes with their DJI drones and one guy went up to over 3,000 meters in altitude with his DJI Phantom. The DJI app does allow some of the DJI drones to ascend to 1,000 meters outside of altitude zones, the one I fly is one of them but I live in an altitude zone so I have to drive about 20 miles or over 30 km. in order to ascend to 1 km. I live in a mountainous region so not being able to ascend to over 500 meters makes it impossible to get over some of the hills and mountains around where I live. Maybe someday DJI will remove these limitations from it's fly app. To be honest, there are few mountains that are over 1,800 meters above sea level within visual line of sight of where I would take off from with my drone since would probably be taking off from at least 800 meters above sea level to begin with. The highest peak in my area is only 2,037 meters above sea level and ground level where I live is at nearly 400 meters above sea level and to get within range of the highest peak in my area my take off point will probably be at about 800 meters so that 1,000 meter limit almost does the job here. If I were to wish to get footage in the Alps though this clearly wouldn't be sufficient to get the drone above some of the peaks there unless the take off point of the drone was no more than 1,000 meters below any of the peaks I wished to reach. At least for the larger drones such as the Air series or Mavic series and above, I think DJI should extend that maximum altitude limit to at least 2,000 meters or remove the limits all together. DJI fly app does not limit distance and in most countries you you can't legally fly beyond visual line of sight so I have to question why they limit the maximum altitude given there are plenty of situations where you may need to ascend to above 500 meters or 1,000 meters. In case anyone doubts weather or not the drone is still within visual line of sight at over 1,000 meters, yes these larger drones can be within visual line of sight at over 1,000 meters and with a strobe the distance can even go much beyond that distance. Sorry about my long comment but maybe if enough of us complain to DJI they will remove some of these limitations from their fly app. Thanks again for sharing this very interesting video. Thanks for watching. I also wish my drone could go above the 500m limit but unfortunately I can't because of the app. Do you know the app your friends use to bypass this altitude limitations and does using it have any effect on the drone? I would like to try out the app on my drone too if it is safe and compatible. Yes newer drones like the Mavic 3 and Air 3 can fly up to 1000 meters and that is amazing, unfortunately I don't have one of those. Which drone do you fly?

@@jonaschigozie7403 No, I don't know the name of the app that was used for the video I saw on KZbin where someone flew their DJI drone above 3,000 meters above ground level but the video below explains how to unlock your DJI drone. It's not my video but it takes you step by step through the process. Bear in mind that any time you replace the DJI fly app with an aftermarket app, you do it at your own risk, for that reason I haven't done it with any of my drones.
