The colour analysis reminds me of going to the opticians and guessing which letter is which or which one is sharper 😭
@rudehoney8390Ай бұрын
It felt more like a "psychic" reading to me, where the expert was trying to subtly figure out how to tell you what you want to hear.
@wheatbread1606Ай бұрын
@@rudehoney8390 YES EXACTLY! this entire thing feels scammy... she kept asking her what she liked to gauge what was best to say. not to mention, isn't it 100% possible they have ties to the makeup store/brands and they tell you what to buy cause of it?? either way, paying $200 to ask someone what you should/shouldn't wear seems stupid. that's a singular person, not the entire population. i can't believe she told her not to wear black?? everyone wears black 😭this is ridiculous. what am i missing??
@KyokoandSeikoDanceАй бұрын
@@wheatbread1606 it's a whole concept, it's not scammy if you look at people who do it youll know, some people look awful in warm colours and others in cool, you know how when you say oh i love red but it never looks good on me? yeah its that, and some people just look better in navy or brown than black you can physically see how the light reflects better on the skin
@wheatbread1606Ай бұрын
@@KyokoandSeikoDance but just because a person looks “awful” in a certain colour doesn’t mean they shouldn’t wear it :/ i mean, how “awful” can someone actually look, lol? if you’re pretty, you are going to look pretty. I understand it in the sense that some colours look especially good, but not “you should never be caught wearing this” 💀 but specifically, this lady kept asking Jodi what she liked or what she thought was best, what’s the point of that?? Isn’t she supposed to tell her?lmao
@KyokoandSeikoDanceАй бұрын
@@wheatbread1606 obviously you can still wear what you want but after you see the difference in how flattering some colours are it's very interesting, she was asking her to check if jodi sees the difference in other consultations they do the same and if you say the wrong one they tell you why

I love that she said coral pink looks good for you hair when its something you've been playing around with, I totally agree. It all feels pretty subjective though with the whole color analysis thing
@nununa7963Ай бұрын
As an artist who also enjoys color analysis there is definitely some truth to what looks better. The difference might not be day and night but some colors will just look better than others, I also notice when I pick out tones while coloring. The only part where the analysis falls flat is in environments with different lighting (golden hour, multicolored lights etc)
@jijicatАй бұрын
I think they got it wrong with her hair. Based on her previous hair colours, the coral pink (and blonde) aren't bad but they aren't her best colours especially when she has a little bit of a summer tan (i think?). The copper suited her the best and just dark colours in general work really well with her overall complexion. It also depends on her current skin tone, I suppose.
@subcatboyАй бұрын
@@jijicat this is why I think its subjective, I disagree completely.. it feels silly to me to base everything off the specific hue of your skin tone.
@Brigitte_GLАй бұрын
I like the color analysis because I think it's like a stepping stone for finding your style. Like it can help you shop with a purpose and feel confident in what you choose if you're not sure. But overall it should be up to personal preference and whatever you feel best in!
@maureencaliАй бұрын
Finding your Personal Color Season doesn’t necessarily restrict you, you’ll just learn which colors will highlight your best features or look most flattering on you. As we’ve all learned, some colors make you look more tired or highlight your acne marks or the red spots on your face more. In those cases, you’ll have a reference to know which colors cancels those concerns the most. I’ve never felt beautiful in black and when I had my personal color done, it made sense. But in events that will require me to wear black, I just make sure to get that color as far away from my face as possible like a tube-style top, deep necklines, etc. I’m a Summer (perhaps light), and I’m glad pastels look good on me since I’ve always worn those colors and always feel like I’m at my most beautiful!
@ruslan_kasimovАй бұрын
You definetely shouldn't think about the color analysis thing too much. I think that dark green dress suits you so well
@xanhappleАй бұрын
honestly think so too, people's complexion & skin tone change with the season (& makeup), and colors differ on types of fabrics and different lighting environments
@cheydne1462Ай бұрын
Don’t think of it as “restricted” I feel like it helps u understand why ur more drawn to certain colors on yourself. Why you feel more confident in certain colors. But at the end of the day, where what you want to wear. As long as you’re comfortable and you like it☺️☺️
@jedne2Ай бұрын
I feel like something like this is could be a slippery slope if you don’t have a strong mindset. You’ll be wearing something you’re “not supposed to” and suddenly you may not feel good. A comfort fit suddenly isn’t because it’s not your colour. Anyway I hope you are staying positive.

Analysis is good for those that don't have an established style. Also geared towards the korean look
@hvnterly8388Ай бұрын
If you want to dress to your season, only worry about tops and jackets. The further away from your face, like pants, shoes, etc it doesn’t super matter. Plus, if you wear make up, it evens out your skin tone, making a lot of personal color negligible. I think personal color might shine most for pjs, bathing suits, and other clothes I’m wearing without makeup. I also think personal color can elevate your looks, help you pick flattering make up or hair colors, but color theory itself is vast. Like, I think a lot of yellow base warm tone girlies (probably the girls who can wear high contrast) look great with navy hair. Yellow and blue are complimentary, but blue isn’t in a warm tone palette. So personal color is just a stepping off point.

Hi Jodi, my mom had this done in the 80s when it was really popular at that time. They told her, and she has always gone by, if the color you want to wear is not one of your 'season', you can wear other colors you like as long as they are not worn up close to your face, like a v neck style or like your streamer awards dress. It is fine because then, as she always put it, you are 'wearing your skin'. (as creepy as that might sound)☺

Without going through colour analysis and professional help, how do women know what make up best suits them? As a man, I'm completely lost on this sort of thing. I've had women say to me in my 20s that I would've been attractive had I used make up (though I've seen videos of guys trying make up for the first time and they ALL seem to become attractive anyway). Even now, pushing 40, I thought I had a certain hair type, but when I thought my hair might be thinning, had women say that it just looks thinner as I've been growing it out and my hair is actually thin overall, so looks thinner when long. Like what is the process behind it? Do women just try different things until they find something they like? Are there YT channels that explain things and I just can't see the difference? I feel like there's some weird secret I just can't grasp, especially with hair (that I've become conscious about since growing it out). I feel like the guy being shown three paint samples by his partner and going "but...they're all kinda white".

I'd say it's mainly knowing your undertone + trial and error. Also, your hair color and what you're wearing can factor into your makeup choices and how it looks.
@mei8948Ай бұрын
I would say as a woman who is really into styling and makeup etc it definitely has taken a long time (years) to figure these things out, mainly through trial and error, as well as heavy consideration and reflection (to both save money and not waste products). This learning and contemplating stage is probably the main reason why beauty influencers have a large viewership too, and why colour anaylsis has been trending recently. I think I started in my early teens, now in my mid twenties and still figuring things out about a lot of beauty stuff, like my hair!

The big thing i dont get about colour analyses is that atleast for me my skin tone is wildly different in summer compared to winter. This maybe is because I live in the northern parts of europe, but i would get 2 wildly different test results based on that fact i think.

Considering how popular personality tests are in Korea (Blood Types, MBTI, flower personalities, etc.) im not surprised color analysis is a thing, tho its basically just as much of a grift as those, grift may be harsh, more like a cypher. I think it really has to do with the hyper homogenous society, and the pressures of the job/academic life the makes ppl want to have a sense of direction or feel like theyve been consulted for the Best choices. But overall i can tell its not really that useful, especially when you can essentially do it on your own, like you said if something feels good to you to wear, you should wear it even if its not "technically correct", fashion is art, not science or math.

I’m the complete opposite from you Jodi with Deep (Cool) Winter, so can switch wardrobes 😂 I have pale skin, red tone hair and green eyes, so black / white / navy and jewel tone colours are my favs so it works for me but… I tend to lean red/warm toned makeup which goes against my analysis.
