I Forced Myself To Play SQUAD in 2024

Although I haven't played in awhile, SQUAD still offers LOUD and authentic firefights that you really can't find anywhere else but private-server Arma milsim. I just feel like despite recent overhauls its age is beginning to show quite a bit and the "new" gunplay can be frustrating to deal with at times. A lot of other games have grabbed my attention recently too. What are your thoughts on the game in 2024? Are you still playing? I do read the comments so let me know! :)

Thats why the alot of the playerbase swapped over to global escalation mod. Keeps the suppression, adds content, and the gunplay is great.

I've never had a good game on global escalation. The mod is great, but it attracts the worts people in Squad. No SLs, or dead silent squads. Every single time in the 5 or so games I played.

I would love to play more, but I'm not comfortable using a mic in my current living situation and trying to get anywhere on the map is a nightmare. The game offers borderline no solo playability and having to request permission to drive even the most basic vehicle makes it daunting to try and pick up & play because once your team leaves spawn, anyone leftover is basically stranded.

I still play Squad all the time. I love playing vehicles with a friend of mine, it really probvides a great environment to play armour in a context dominated by infantry.

9 out of 10 times I end up playing global escalation mod in squad. Also adds enemy proximity chat which is fun and when I see the server list I see A lot of other servers also running GE.

Can someone tell the devs that when you get tunnel vision due to adrenaline the center of your vision doesn't go blurry? It'd be way better off if only the peripherals of the screen went blurry when getting suppressed. That would actually be closer to the feeling oof tunnel vision.

Apparently Global Escalation has modified settings that tone back the Infantry overhaul stuff. Been playing it myself more and i find the gun play more manageable or at least im not blaming the controls for losing the gunfight or my characters 5 seconds of max stamina

In the future if by some miracle I'm developing a game with Picture in Picture scopes, I'd definitely include some sort of rule to cull foliage within like a foot or so of the scope camera just to allow some more of the realistic "peaking through grass" kind of sniper gameplay.

I am in a similar boat when it comes to squad. I love playing squad but can only bring myself to play when I have friends. The suppresion and stability are great concepts and mechanics created for project realism but when added to squad they needed to be set at a 4/10 and the devs set them an 11/10 and subsequently killed the fun I got from the game itself.

I haven't been able to play Squad since ICO. Every time I get into battle and there are explosions around, game crashes and shows an error. I have uninstalled and reinstalled, check game files and everything. My setup is Rtx4060, I7 12th gen, Ran32. I have no idea why the game crashes only when theres a battle.
