CK3, much like EU4, lets you form nations. Today, we take a look at the Empire of Russia, both a nation in CK3 AND EU4! This was an awful CK3 challenge - definitely one of my hardest starts in CK3! I was forced to play tall instead of my usual playing wide for this one. Forming empires in CK3 might get tougher than this but not for me!

I hope he realises this at some point but the main thing when dealing with those constant northman armies that invade is the majority of their troops are actually Levies so if you have a decent enough army you can steamroll them, even if your forces are smaller in number.

The Rus or Russians were not slacking off, they were constantly defending against invasion after invasion, the Mongols, Neighboring countries, and infighting for control. It was a very chaotic time for them and they were subjects for quite awhile until Ivan threw off Tatar control and became Tsar, creating Russia as we eventually knew it.

Btw, when you do a "conquer kingdom title" casus belli, you gain the land of that title AND all the land outside of that kingdom title you occupied. So it can very well end up being kinda like a subjugation war agianst Kazariah.

The term Kievan Rus was invented artificially. then there was JUST Russia and Russia then was not a single state rather a tribal confederation

Russia is not the cultural successor of Kievan Rus (although it is just Rus, as Soviet historians used to name it to justify their false theories). It stole the history to some extent of lithuanians (this is the real name of Belarusians) and ukrainians (who have long been called Ruthenians). The fact that they (Moscow) were part of Rus does not mean anything. They were only a swamp province for a long time and were in conflict with Kyiv. Then they came up with their ideas and cut it out. Read more, when suddenly the subjects of the Horde Muscovites began to call themselves "Russians". And look at the spelling in the slavic language: "Русь" and "Россия". They even took the wrong name and tried to steal someone else's story. I advise you to see who the Ukrainian Feofan Prokopovych is. He was one of the ideologues of Russia, created by Peter the Great from the medieval state of Muscovy. Novgorod and neighboring provinces did not belong to them. Moksha, erzy, Mordovians and others. Look at the roots of the names of Russian cities east or north of Moscow: most of them have a Tatar translation or something. Also look for the use of the Ukrainian coat of arms in Russian times. Russia is not Kievan Rus. Do not believe me, then read more deeply what I write.

Russia was formed in 1480? Meh? Where did you get that info? The Russian Empire was formed by Peter the Great in 1721. You might be also referring to the so-called "Tsardom of Russia" which was formed in 1551, but no one outside the royal court and clergy called it that way. All western countries continued to call it predominantly the Tsardom of Muscovy up until 1721.
