Honestly not sure what the opponent was thinking there tbh. It's like a 50/50 to get frozen if they were trying to recover until deoxys die to life orb recoil, and even in the absolute best case scenario, sableye at 56% still gets revenged by mence or groudon. Maybe I'm just not seeing the line but it doesn't seem worth it to give up a 50% chance to lose on the spot for a few HP on sableye in that position.

It’s because his gameplan isn’t necessarily to go for a freeze, but to keep sableye as low as possible by sacking Deo-A. The outcome stays in his favor whether or not he freezes the sab, freezing the sab just adds another level of reward to his play

now im not a gen 6 uber world cup player but i dont really get why in a gen without boots you would rely on magic bounce for hazard control on a stall team of all things. i doubt mold breaker is something to look out for lol but even without that what happens if the rocker has a move to hit sableye? and what happens in the lead matchup if you haven't mega'd sableye yet you just lose coz of the rocks now. im assuming lugia or giratina had defog but even freezai's fairly standard team put on too much pressure for them to click it so the team just seems flawed to me

Gen 6 Ubers is one of my favorite tiers. It’s still Ubers, so there’s tons of offense, but balance/stall builds are still really powerful. I don’t think you got outplayed - you got as many turns right as he did, and he had to play near perfect and also get good luck to guarantee a win. Like, had you stone edged on Lugia, had he missed Toxic on Don, etc, feels like you would’ve won on the spot.

Good luck have fun is a psychological distraction tactic invented in a 1943 chess match between two grandmasters. White gets a massive +4% win-rate boost by saying glhf if black responds. Honestly should be banned, even if most players opt for handshake instead. I don't have the stats for gen 6 ubers, but gen 8 & 9 OU both have a +2-3% WR for whoever says glhf if the other player responds. Gotta be careful out there.

I don't think you really got outplayed tbh. You did as well as you could against garbage stall. Your team into them was really good though which helped. Once Blissey was broken they had no counter to your offense. Freeze mattered sure but Sab would've been at roughly 50% if not frozen and that's still a kill for Mence. Crit on Lugia just sped up the inevitable. They had no way to hold off all of the offense.
