This was great. I usually make my own grid, but I’ve never thought to use the paint bucket tool to actually “draw” the shapes in. This is so relaxing. Thanks!

Your voice is so hypnotic. Really love your videos Satori, always exploring in Ai!!! Thanks!!!! In addition to your logo design process, if I may suggest, could you provide your thoughts on designing supporting brand elements that matches the logo and intended look and feel of the brand? Hard to find info on this topic, I guess most designers just wing it with the branding and it ends up looking great. I am able to create cool, simple logos but designing supporting graphics to go with the brand is a toughy. If any other designers reading this, please share your thoughts!😊

The Live selection tool has some "hidden" function\propertise that you might not have know about. *1 - Hold "Option\Alt"* for Colour Picker mode. Using this while a Live Paint selection is selected wont have it being filled in while picking a colour. *2 - Fast Colour swatch switch* - the 3 swatches attached to your cursor is a preview of what would be your next or before colours, based on which Colour Folders in Swatches tab ypu have selected. So basically if you throw in your colours as a separate folder, you can cycle *with arrow keys* between only what you have chose! Personally, I love this tool, it's extremely versatile, even outside of using it as it's supposed to be use for. For example, use it as a Pathfinder\Shape builder function.

Great tip! You can also make an isometric gird by creating a stroke-only rectangle to the desired size. With the object selected, go to Object > Path > Split Into Grid. In the dialogue box, add as many columns as desired - no rows. Then, with the technique you've demonstrated, copy+paste the grid, rotate 60deg, and copy+paste and flip horizontal. Voilà! Cheers!

Wow this a great way to get perfectly aligned corners on the shapes. I've been doing it totally wrong. I was using the shape builder tool for this same method but it became annoying having to delete all the extra lines after I was done with the design.

There's a ready-made action called "one-click isometric grid" that you can download by searching on google. It can create an isometric grid within 3 seconds. They have both paid and free versions.

Thomas, awesome content, thank you, man! One thing has been bothering me for a long time. I often seem to struggle to believe in importance and value of design. It is like an imposter syndrome but about profession overall. Especially on an oversaturated market. When presenting the client typography chapter within the brand identity, in the back of my head I get thoughts like "Is it that important, that it is Roboto and not Helvetica? Does he or anyone care? What am I doing?" Would you make a video on how to deal with it?
@zeeq73314 жыл бұрын
That is what we most designers, or any form of creatives, go through. The self-doubt and self-sabotaging thoughts - which can often damper the processes of the projects we do. Have you DM Satori Graphics? Would love to see videos on how to overcome these kind of designers' mental health issues. :)

love it. What I like to see, among other other things, are text effects since finding good ideas are not always easy. Also, when to use PS for text design and when to use AI since we can do neat designs with PS but those are not vector-based, are they? I am a bit at a loss about that.
@SatoriGraphics4 жыл бұрын
Hi Pauline, hope you are well? PS now has a vector button built in, not sure what I think about it though. So you can turn any PS design into a vector essentially.

This is awesome!! I would like to see a logo with golden ratio but the letters were also exactly the size of golden ratio (saw the logo but cdnt figure out how to make it) guy was helpful in telling me but still confused. Any golden ratio logo with use of white space please? And the use of letters in it might be really helpful. The guy who made it was neverone_design on insta logo was two books "zkd" it will be really really helpful if u make like any similar logo or anything teaching the process

I can't figure out why but when I do this my 60 degree lines don't line up their intersections to the vertical lines at all... Any clue what I'm doing wrong Satori?
@domagojgalekovic85074 жыл бұрын
Make sure your spacings are exact and make sure the initial lines are properly centered. Check if your object or group anchor point is in centre. Make sure you enable smart guides while rotating, these help a bunch!
