Sometimes acts of kindness like this are what correct peoples behaviors. Now the doggie mommy can see the value of grooming, and that her pup was actually able to sit through it. Most people aren’t inherently bad they just don’t know.

Sometimes the reason is the owner is overwhelmed with their own care. Lets be gentle on our neighbours because we don't know what they are going through, but maybe we can help someone in some little way. Thank you to Jess -- and all the angels out there -- who help pets whether they are owned or strays.
@myssnoel84968 ай бұрын
@@margaretadrdic5727Alot of new dog owners don't know this stuff. It's a learning curve. I didn't know what a true mat looked like for the longest time. I know what a foxtail barley mat looks like, and that was a nightmare all in itself. No amount of brushing, deranger, dematting tools and slicker brushes would get those mats out and now I know why. I didn't know foxtail barley can cause serious harm to dogs. Neither did most of the other dog owners I know. Even just brushing out normal little mats won't get them out and then my dog gets fussy and wont let me brush him. I had to find new ways of doing things. My pup gets mats so easily it's rediculous. Yes it's the owners responsibility to care for their dog, but we need to be kind to people and guide them when we can, because when people told me I was a bad owner for not knowing what a mat was, I almost rehomed my dog and it took a long time before I didn't feel like a failure. We shouldn't make others feel the same way. Now I'm knowledgeable about this stuff than most people. Especially when it comes to my dogs specific breed. People don't know the intricacate details about dog ownership and I try to help when I can on social media, because the internet searches alone give conflicting answers when doing research and people will just give up. It took me a longtime to learn. Every situation is different and sometimes you need to find your own creative ways of doing things. There are not set rules to follow when it comes to your pets. Hair care is the same way.

I am not a professional groomer, but I have been grooming for almost 6 years. I graduated from a $50 cheapo clipper to an Arco on my second year of home grooming and now have an array of grooming products. After all these years of learning. I think its safe to say that my grooming has improved! And especially with your videos, I just love to soak in your good vibes and valuable teachings! Something I'd like to say is that there is a obese shih tzu mix that is SUPER PELTED that walks down my street. I've been so tempted to just tell the owner that I'll give their dog a groom, but I didn't want to seem rude or too confident. I have worked on matted dogs before (my dogs were gifted to me when they were pups but poor babies were matted, and I've had a few people pay me to groom their tangled dogs) but I have never worked on an extremely pelted dog like that one before. But it breaks my heart to see the little dog every time :( Would it be a bad idea to shoot my shot and help the poor lil guy out the next time I see him/her? Would there be some liability issues?

You'd be doing the dog a favor, but that's a great question?
@michellehunter-robinson30418 ай бұрын
Worst thing the owner can say is, "No." 🤷🏽♀️. Perhaps tell the owner it's your community service offering or a part of your tithing practice, if you have a religious affiliation. Take the onus off of them and steer it towards yourself.
@dim3072 ай бұрын
i wonder if the owner is elderly or disabled. esp w how everything has gotten SO expensive, it could be she just can’t afford it- or in the case of disability or mobility issues, could be the owner doesn’t have a vehicle and has a hard time getting to a groomer reliably. i think if you ask and say you’d do it for free (if you’re in the same neighborhood just say you do neighborly favors here and there or something if they feel targeted 😅), it doesn’t hurt to try. worse case scenario she says no! but you might really help her out. this was a while ago tho, did you end up doing it?
@dim3072 ай бұрын
@@michellehunter-robinson3041 that’s a good idea. some people are just negligent but sometimes people are just really struggling that can lead to out of character negligence. this will help the owner feel less ashamed or put on the spot.

Her makeover is incredible. You are incredible and so in tuned with your client. Grooming is intense and the psychology that is necessary to do your work 🤯! This baby & her new bob! So happy for Harlow and her mom. In regards to matting, My beloved cat, Jette, hated to be brushed & would get mats. I’d have to cut them off which of course she hated. I’m so happy you all crossed paths because the Jess Rona Grooming experience is what Harlow & her momma really needed. ❤

Can we tone it down with the mean comments about the owner. Like, yeah, the dog is matted with fleas and poor doggo, but you never know what the owner is going through. Doggo seems to be walked regularly and pretty healthy in general, which is sadly better care than most owners give their small dogs. Hopefully, after this amazing makeover Jess gave her, the owner will realize that grooming is a major necessity for the quality of her babies life and starts to at least brush her. I get that criticism can help someone realize their shortcomings, but shaming and witchhunting isn't productive. Can't we all just have a bit more compassion and wish the best for the doggo and her owner?
