I found a series of ALPINE LAKES along this Rugged Ridge Line Trail

This single track trail leads to pristine alpine lakes in the mountains!!
In this video, I am exploring an area that I had previously attempted to ride two months prior to posting. When I first rode it, the conditions were too rough to make it very far, but now I am back to see what lies at the top of this mountain..
It has been two months since I have ridden my 501, but what better way to get back into it, than with a challenging trail.
In this video I will also reflect a bit on some of the changes I have made to my bike and my packing list before every ride. The last riding experience I had taught me a lot of hard lessons, so now I am trying to implement some of that new knowledge.
Hope you guys like the video!

Viewers- If you know this trail, please keep coordinates and trail names out of the comments section. If anyone wants info, please email me privately 🤙🏼 NOTES: 1) Yes, the title screen has been updated. Its a small change, but i'm sure some people will notice it lol. 2) At this point I think my turn signal has more miles than my bike does hahahahahaha. 3) Every fall, I use my motorcycle to do a bit of grouse hunting in the mountains. If you want to see videos of that, definitely let me know!!

Great video! I rode this a month ago, a little bit of it, anyway … turned back at that rock garden. Always more challenging than videos are able to convey. Rather steep and tons of awkward boulders, at least it was for me! Thanks for posting, it’s nice to see what was beyond and what I missed. Well done. Might have to try it again next week, or maybe from the north and see how far I get.

I was on a quad trail in southern Idaho, and I had the same issue with loosing the trail. I did find it a little later. I wanted to make it a point to mention how SOLD I am on AGM batteries. I recently traded in my 2009 Polaris quad, and it had the original AGM battery in it, and it was working fine. When I traded in my 2012 Polaris quad to buy my 2022 Polaris quad, it had the original AGM battery in it, and it was working just fine. Unbelievably, Polaris put a flooded cell lead acid battery in the 2022. I took it out and installed an AGM in its place. When I started building my 1923 T Bucket in 2013 or 2014, I bought an AGM battery for it. I still have that battery in it to this day, and it is working just fine. On all of my battery operated toys and the lawnmower, I also have an "Opitamate" battery charge indicator. You can tell with just a glance wether it is time to put it on the charger, and it has a handy 12 volt 2 wire plug on it to plug the charger into, OR, it is a handy fused 12 volt plug that can be used for accessories. I have AGM batteries installed in my RZR900 Trail, and my TW 200 along with my 2022 Polaris Trail. I had to order the AGM for my TW from Taiwan, and it took 4 months to get here. Back to the trail that you were just on, that trail is just to rugged for me, and I don't know if I would have even done that when I was much younger. LOL I wonder how a Rokon 2 wheel drive dirt bike would be on that trail. The belt drive would have been useful in all of those rocks. I wrote the first comment halfway through the video. I agree with you turning back at that point. You know------back to the "mortal" part. Nice job with the video.

I love the way that you have edited the bike footage to the drone footage in real time. That is so cool. I went up an "easy" quad trail on my TW a couple of weeks ago, and I have finally come to the conclusion that at 78, I just can't do what I use to do on a dirt bike. I am going to sell it, and it is a shame because I have my TW all tricked out with front and rear racks, a rear chainsaw rack for a Ryobi 12 inch 18 volt chain saw. Oh well, I still have my Polaris "trail" quad to ride. I really like to watch you tackling trails like I use to do when I was 35 years younger. LOL I am also pleased that you have figured out the "mortal" part. I want you to be able to make more videos. I too like to ride alone. I always have, and I like it that way just like you like it that way. If I am not able ride these awesome single tracks, at least I can watch you doing it. Your narration is spot on. Not too much, and no irritating music, and I can hear that thumper just thumping away under you. Oh yea, that turn signal. LOL I have a 1923 T Bucket that I made from scratch and there are MANY times that I went to use my turn signal only to find that it has been on for heaven only knows how many miles. I have a 5 tooth bigger rear sprocket for my TW that I definitely would need to put on if I tried to tackle that trail. Those views from the drone are very nice of both the ridge-lines and the lakes. Your videos are just getting better and better. Keep up the good work.

I always love your comments!! It’s a shame you’re selling your toys but I understand the reasons. You know, I got a lot of prime years ahead of me and my last experience really reminded me to take a humble approach to some of my expeditions. I want to keep making more videos too and it’s hard to do that if I get hurt. At the end of the day, experiences like that need to happen to keep me aware of the things that can happen in the backcountry. You never really know how to prepare for an expedition until you’ve been bitten in the ass a couple times and then you really learn the things you wish you had.. I really hope you hold on to that TW because it’s such a good bike to use for exploring light trails or logging roads. Thanks for the support on the channel!

I'm presuming your running tubes in your tires. If so, I would consider running the Tubliss system on a dual sport allowing you to air down at the TH to 4-5psi and lower in rear and 7-8psi in front it's a traction and rider comfort game changer. Since your running the Motoz tractionator they have very stiff side walls, I have run those at zero psi on my dual sport 500's with Tubliss system, I run mousses in my dirtbike.
@madjack_757
@madjack_757 5 ай бұрын
You know, I have really begun to consider trying the tubliss system because you're totally right. The motoz tires are very stiff and installing them is a huge pain lol. I think this winter I am going to try make a few investments toward the husky and make a few more upgrades.

The high point is very cool. I do think the south side is more techy and janky... I did this as a loop, completely not prepared. I am guessing you made it about 1/4 to 1/3rd of the way in. The loop took me 3.5 hours riding and 4.5 hours total. 45 miles or so. The rest of the loop is easy.

@@madjack_757 Camping on the summit would be rad but there is not much room. You can look up the trail on Trailforks, and see my photos from different spots on the trail. Including one at summit. If you look at trail profile on trailforks, you will see the North side of the biggest hill is very steep and has a lot of those red bars, which indicate difficulty. I don't recall going down that being hard at all, but coming up might be another story, All that to say - might be best ridden south to north. I wanna ride it again with more than just me.

I haven’t finished the video yet, but did you mention what new tire you went with?

I’m still runnin the motoz tractionator h/t and love it! If I picked up a tire sponsor I’d run the softest rubber I could, but for longevity, reliability, and decent performance, the tractionators do pretty great 🤙🏼 One day tho I do wanna splurge and try one of those gummy tires and just shred it up and see what amazing traction feels like 😂

Motoz tractionator HT. Because I’m running the HT, the loose silty terrain like this is brutal 😂
