Wait a minute… I am a 63 yo Canadian and we do eat the same things as you do. But first of all, we eat LESS per person than you do. Obesity is not only a matter of quality, but also quantity. Secondly, education. In our schools fast food catering is forbidden. We have laws that forbid a fast food restaurant to open within a certain distance from a school. ( Less than 500 meters). We also have a huge advantage over Americans: Free medical care. Prevention and obesity treatments are easily available, especially for the kids. We have access to free nutritionists, free nurse care in clinics, and educational programs. Low income families have access to food banks in their neighborhoods. But it’s mainly education and medical care that makes the difference in the long term. Diabetes is among the principal causes of premature deaths and having free preventative treatment prevents complications like cancer, heart disease and strokes. That’s what happens in the USA.

I realized all the pre packaged food, the way we eat in the US is often similar to the way people eat in a war zone. Home of the brave. We should be mostly eating food straight and fresh from local small farms but big corps/govt have fought hard against that decades ago in countless ways. We have plenty of ways in most places to get fresh food but there's so many middle men that the prices are high to buy it frequently. There has been so much over regulating and legislation and it makes sense why a big gov would have such fear and disdain for small farms. 1776. They actually still pay them to NOT farm. Corruption at the highest levels, disgusting.

Thank you sir! I raised my children by a book named “Feed Your Kids Right “ by Dr Lindon Smith back in the 80’s . They have been healthy and successful in their careers. My son, Randy,went to law school and then earned a MPH degree from John’s Hopkins. He has worked for HHSduring the Bush and Trump administrations and is still living in Arlington Va running a co nsulting business he started.
