OMG! Who does this to radios? I doubt the person on the receiving end can make out what anyone using this radio was trying to say!!! Nice work restoring it back to working better. 😎 More power to your 💪 😃

Well they sell better that way you know, A lot of people just want to see power on the watt meter. I’ve heard some people like that on the radio before and they usually ask how they sound and everyone tells them they sound good but I think they’re too afraid to say they don’t sound good haha Thanks man 👍

@@JohnnyNJones Crazy, tell them the truth. How is it going to stop if everyone that does it thinks it is better?

@@BoB4jjjjs oh yeah, I definitely agree. I think that’s why ham users, see CB radio users as complete morons. certainly, they’re not all morons. It’s just a few rotten apples and sometimes they don’t even know they’re rotten. I’ve heard people that were splattering all over the place trying to get a dx contact. The person doesn’t answer them because for one, they can’t even understand them, and frankly they might be splattering so much that they’re not even reaching the contact. Either way the next thing they do is think they need more power. Once upon a time I was under that impression until I managed to skip my way to Florida on a four watt Johnson messenger. Just goes to show that a clean sound, and a good antenna are the most fundamental things. Of course, I’m still in my radio infancy, but I feel like much of the CB radio band is filled with large amounts of interference and splatter to the point where it’s almost unusable. And I do realize that amplitude modulation is prone to noise, but I feel like we could clean it up if peak and tuners would just stop scamming CB users with ugly sounding radios.

@@JohnnyNJones Manufactures are wrong in that they make a poor job of setting up the radios in the first place, then the local screwdriver expert thinks he can do better, but most of them do not have the equipment to do it properly, so the poor radio ends up worse than when it was made. Trouble is, other CB users convince others to get things done to their CBs, but they don't know in the first place. I have seen CBs messed about with so bad, that it took houirs to get them back to standard and get then to work properly again. That is if you can even get the parts for them! Even when the CBs at this side of the pond were made, thying to get a part was so difficult it almost made it a non-repair if they did something to a CB to damage it! We got FM here, a lot better in a lot of ways, but the only thing I have against it is, when the squelch breaks, it can be very sharp and loud. Other than that FM gets mare range and is a lot clearer. However, SSB is good if ststic or HB.

Amazing , the difference was night and day. It's crazy what people do to these radios. It's a shame. 514 Ontario Canada

Sounds better since you soldered the diode back. My best friend had a 148 and the mic gain was the first control, he was always thinking it was the volume, so he tucked the control inside the radio and stuck a temporary plug in the hole. He eventually put it back in and just used a different control knob.

That makes sense if it got annoying enough I’d do the same thing as your friend. I should make a radio called shaken not Stirred where every knob and every button is just haphazardly thrown together without spacing or even distribution.

She’s a very pretty rig , shame there’s no Fm. Don’t you just love screwdriver experts , who believe they know better than the designers of Radio equipment over the last 80 years !

Yeah, it’s kind of a shame they do it just to make money off of other people by showing extra wattage. It really makes me feel bad because it runs people away from CB radio Imagine if that was your first experience with Radio was some rig like that You’d never wanna go back to it

You still can achieve 20 Watts without cutting the Limiter. The VR 4 can Achieve 20 Watts without sounding blown out
