I went to Italy to search for my Dream Home. Join me on my Italian adventure! It was a hot and windy day, so please bear with the wind noise. Hope you enjoy the journey as much as I did.

The last house on the video with spectacular views is a wonderful investment. The energy in and around the house is much better than the initial property. It would take a huge budget to restore the initial farmhouse you showed. I think you would be far happier in the last house which is much more inviting and would cost you less to finish restoring and make an exceptional B & B and home. I wish you good luck in your search. Your heart will guide you as to where you feel you belong. Sai

The first one was my personal favourite, but it was HUGE (and totally empty).The other properties were also good, but looked outdated. Overall i think you should take a professional you trust and ask for the prices the renovation will cost. With a wishlist you made for each. Before you consider to buy one of these properties. Maybe you should see a few more. Thank you for taking me into the italian riviera. It was beautiful ❤

Indeed, the location is too isolated. The views are amazing though. And why the need for a B&B? No clue. The size of the plot is very important! I would make sure I am close enough to a big village, this is not for me 🙂
@ExpatTheExplorer4 ай бұрын
@carlorad That sounds like a very expensive potential. My bank account doesn't like this number :) . I was thinking more like 250-300K but I am not a builder so I have no clear idea about renovation cost of such a large house.

@tip0019 The B&B idea could be an extra income if I wanted to retire early. The closest village is 3.2 km away. But I agree the remote area is not for everyone. I will continue looking...

Continue looking and also inquire into this one. No matter what number you are given to refurbish any property expect it to exceed the estimate. Also if you have a realtor to help you , consider yourself lucky.
@ExpatTheExplorer4 ай бұрын
@kathycappelli3468 I will definitely continue looking while I await response from the agency for this house. From what I saw there are many houses they wouldn't need such an expansive renovation work but let's see where the destiny takes me :)

I think it’s worth exploring further. The price may be low. The renovation will take lots of money and patience. It may be in your budget. Sounds like you have the vision to do it. The area is beautiful and remote. As a woman, I understand you not entering the dark rooms. That was your intuition (women’s super power) telling you not to enter. Most likely No zombies. Could have been a whole in the floor or snakes. Whatever it was, you listened to your inner voice. Which is always smart. Let us know what you find out about the property. 😊
@ExpatTheExplorer4 ай бұрын
@TraciKyle I have inquired with a local agency if they can find out the price for me, so let's see. I've been told the renovation would be around 500K! That is not what I would want to spend to fix it. So I will continue my search while I wait for response. I wouldn't want to meet a snake in there for sure. :)

I noticed a lot of dead trees. It seemed very dry. Are they having a drought?
@ExpatTheExplorer4 ай бұрын
@philcourtney7831 I asked myself the same question. Some of the trees were black, more like burnt, maybe there was fire some time ago. I looked up the exact location on Google maps street view, the images were from 2011, the place was green with healthy beautiful trees. This place has changed drastically over the years according to Google maps.

Thank you for your feedback, I think you might be right . Less work sounds good to me. Initially I will have the house (when I found one) as a holiday home before retirement so extensive renovations could be tricky and time consuming.

Vivo a Pisa, purtroppo, da quando è sparito il mondo contadino, di queste fattorie abbandonate ve ne sono tante, in Toscana e in tutta Italia. Usate l'aeroporto di Pisa che è sicuro non quello di Firenze.

If you are planning to restore this property alone, I would advise you not to try and find something in better condition. It looks to be in very bad condition. You did not go up to the apartment level in the video. Have you seen that part of it? It will most likely need all new electric and most of the plumbing. And then there is the roof. I would not even think about it, but I'm 75. 😂😅😂😅 Ciao
@fulvias.84634 ай бұрын
and a normal renovation costs around 1000Euro/mq if you are lucky. The first property is more a place for someone who intends to invest a lot! But in the area there are a lot of interesting properties, in better shape.
@ExpatTheExplorer4 ай бұрын
@wernerdanler2742 You are probably right, maybe I should be looking for something smaller and less renovation work, it would be my first project. Yes, the roof, I just saw it from outside and a very quick peek from the 1st floor corridor. I am not giving up, I continue my search for the perfect house :)
