I'm 54 and my wife and I are VERY worried about our future, gas and food prices rising daily. We have had our savings dwindle with the cost of living into the stratosphere, and we are finding it impossible to replace them. We can get by, but can't seem to get ahead. My condolences to anyone retiring in this crisis, 30 years nonstop just for a crooked system to take all you worked for..

I feel your pain mate, as a fellow retiree, I’d suggest you look into passive index fund investing and learn some more. For me, I had my share of ups and downs when I first started looking for a consistent passive income so I hired an expert advisor for aid, and following her advice, I poured $30k in value stocks and digital assets, Up to 200k so far and pretty sure I'm ready for whatever comes...

Are there many public access points on this grand lake? I enjoy paddle boarding and canoeing on big lakes like this. I've learned in my travels many popular lakes like this offer very few places with public access to drop in a canoe or paddle board with no parking either.

Want to be close to sea. possibly a sea view but would not mind a 10 min drive for more privacy and trees where probably much cooler. definitely want to have or the ability to have air con. Diversity of views such as sea, vineyards, hills, would be wonderful. NOT fixer upper. And don't want to feed a wood or pellet stove. Can't do the lifting anymore. The arty scene very appealing as I am an artist. Anything around $100,000 or less is good.

Personally, and possibly with the exception of Normandy purely as war history buff, I wouldn't choose any of these places as far too well known for my liking. I'd pick somewhere up in the North in the Pas de Calais area for it's cross-channel links, proximity to Belgium and Holland, and Germany not too far off either. Paris isn't a long drive from there too.

WOW They are all nice. The first is fantastic. But the last is preferred though not in City Center. Am a sucker for heated flooring which I have in my home now. Great feature! Hard to give it up. What do you get for the $250 per year extra fee? It would be nice if it were maid service!

Could be heaven or a nightmare. My advice: take youf time, visit the country, travel around (not only the tourist areas), mingle with the local people, stay for a while in various places, be patient and open minded and don't rush into buying property before you know what you are doing. Expect different laws, taxation systems and customs. There are no unique buying oppurtunities! Should you miss one there are plenty of others!

do not think buying a Italian house without a lawyer in your language, many cheap Italian homes have outstanding debt, bad construction and wet fungus in the floor, ceiling and walls, property tax is going higher and keep in mind Italy was in high deficit since 2008, still Italy is an EU country with very high deficit which the government will pull up from funds of investors on taxes, and foreign investment

I can't say if you can build another house on the land but usually you can add extension and covered patio to the existing house In Italy. The size of extension depends on the land size, bigger land means bigger extension. To build another house you would need to apply for approval from the local office. I'm French and I know a few expatriates. Those I know know that Burgundy produces top-of-the-range wines and that a good bottle of Meursault will quickly exceed 50 euros (and not 3 euros...). The second one is my favourite too. It ticks all the boxes, it has garden, olive trees, neighbours near by, lots of space, moveable but still bit of a project and close to the town.
