I Found an Abandoned Pond INFESTED with Deadly Snakes!

In today's video, I go back to the abandoned house to save the rest of the fish that were left to die! This time we netted around in the backyard pond to see what is still living in there! We unfortunately found a few dead fish that we were unable to save, but there was still tons of fish left alive! We caught tons of rare exotic fish like pacu, tiger shovelnose catfish, iridescent sharks, oscars, cichlids, AND MORE! But things took a turn when we discovered that the abandoned pond was actually INFESTED with deadly snakes! We had to remove all the snakes without getting bitten in order to save all the fish! We placed a fish trap and caught 2 of the snakes out, and the rest we had to catch with a net! We then cut a massive hole in the pond and fully drained it, saving the rest of the aquarium fish inside the pond! We brought back all the fish and put them in my backyard pond where they will have a second chance at life!

Those are actually brown watersnakes! So they're non-venomous but a bite would definitely hurt! You can tell by their patterns, tail, and heads. The main destictive difference is Brown Watersnakes have a brown squared pattern where the corners don't touch eachother. Cottonmouths have black bands that wrap around to the belly, they also have black tipped tails, and black stripes over the eyes that kinda make it look like it has a mask, which these snakes didn't have. I'm not a snake genius, but did learn how to identify them due to spending many summers out in the middle-of-no-where country near a river.

New to your videos, as a snake person, the title really got me. Water Moccasins (Cottonmouths) are not what those were. I saw another comment stating they were water snakes, which is accurate (I have water snakes in Kentucky!) Head shape, especially if you have coral snakes, is not a good indicator of a venomous snake, especially since so many species, such as water snakes, garter snakes and rat snakes, flatten their heads to appear larger and more intimidating. It worked on you two! I would recommend, again especially since you are in Florida, joining a snake Identification group and learning to accurately identify all of your venomous species. And if you are certain something is venomous (Even if it isn't like these guys) I don't recommend moving them. Inexperienced handlers get bit.

Yes and the sad thing is, so many people in this country constantly mistake these water snakes for water moccasins and kill them. To all the people who may happen to read this comment, there is absolutely NO reason to kill a snake, whether it's venomous or not. They are very important for the environment, and they are amazing creatures that deserve to live on this planet just as much as we do! Kentucky actually made it illegal to kill the water snakes because so many people were killing them for no reason! I am also a snake keeper, of venomous and non-venomous, so I love them very much and am saddened whenever someone kills one of them for literally no reason.

The snakes were harmless brown watersnakes (Nerodia Taxispilota). It's probably worth learning all of the aquatic and semiaquatic snake species (if not all local species) considering how often you're out in water-related areas. That way in the future you know what to avoid and what is safe to interact with (if need be).

Those snakes were actually brown water snakes, they're usually mistaken as cotton mouths (water moccasins) and are even commonly called false moccasins! They aren't venomous but can be fairly aggressive and have a pretty painful bite. Hope to see more of your content soon!

The snakes Bobby and Helen encountered in the pond were Florida (southern) water snakes, not water moccasins. You can tell by the eye pupils; water snakes have round pupils, while water moccasins have vertical pupils like a cat. I know snakes very well, and I recommend reading up on them to ensure proper safety when encountering them.

Those snakes look like they are most likely a common eastern brown water snake. They are nonvenomous and are actually nice to have around. They do mimic water moccasins to avoid predators. I actually have a large pond behind my house that has a nest of water snakes. I catch them occasionally to check up on them. I am just glad you saved the snakes as I saw that the water was too low for them to escape. That is such a great thing to do even if you are scared.

Next time you encounter this snake problem in a pool like this, cut a few holes about 3 inches above the waterline. If you make them about 3x3, the snakes will find them plenty easy to escape. Just be sure to cut those holes on the side(s) you want the snakes to leave from! Edit: Also, slicing about an inch or two below the waterline will spill less water/fish at once and allow you to concentrate them in shallower water over time without great risk of spreading helpless fish across the grass.

I live in a very wooded so many snakes that I have seen water moccasins, black rat snakes cute little neon, green snakes, that are about as big around is a ball point pen have little red eyes and then there is the extremely dangerous copperhead den right next to the creek that everybody who lives here knows about where it is. So whenever I walk my road, I always make sure that I have a golf club with me just in case I come across them. I’m not that worried about the water moccasin, because when it was lounging in the creek on the rock in the sun it sensed me coming and slithered into the water and away from me.

@Dark_Gingi no they aren't venomous. They looked like they got in the pool and couldn't get back out and just really scared. Usually, cottonmouths (water moccasins) flash the inside of their mouth as a warning display, though that isn't always the case. It's best not to touch things if you don't know for certain as some none venomous and venomous snakes look very similar. Just leave them alone, though. I'm glad Bobby released them and didn't kill them.

Thank you for saving the fish. Im a reptile lover and the snakes are more afraid of you than you are of them, they just want out. They probably got in and they cant get out. May i recommend getting snake tongs so that if you do have this issue again, you are less likely to get bit, especially if it is a venomous species. Also some of the little riddles dont always work as i have an older corn snake that has a triangle head. I recently adopted him and am working on getting some weight on him. But gripper tongs would work best for you in case this happens again. Im so glad you finished this series as well as saved the snakes. Most people would kill them but they do serve as pest control.

Looked more like brown water snakes to me (non venomous). Anyway, thx for treating them so well and hats off, that you actually engaged. Although I have some experience handling snakes and have taken a course on handling venomous pet snakes (not in the US btw) I wouldn't engage a snake without proper tools and a clear ID if I knew there are venomous snakes around.

Right!? Helen is amazingly patient with his ramblings while he's nervous. I'm glad she is brave. I don't think most gfs would be as accommodating as she is (in general). They sneak past ghosts, rats, snakes and security guards and she's right there. No qualms. 👍🏼 what a duo. Go team Boblen or is it Helbby? LoL 😂 keep the vids coming.

I was looking online. The markings on the back are black and staggered. The stripes on the back of the cotton mouth water moccasin are continuous across. So because it was checkered, it most likely was a harmless water snake.
