For the caller and the boyfriend's dad's feet: I wouldn't rule out venous insufficiency. Or heart failure. Both can cause feet and leg swelling, itchiness, and redness. He needs to see a different doctor asap.

For caller #1: my initial thought was allergy because many minor allergic reactions cause swelling, pain, and itchiness especially in the hands & feet. But after three days, he’d either need to be in constant contact with the allergen (think new fabric softener, hair product/body wash, etc) or it’s something else. My feet are prone to get swollen & itchy & painful because of my bad blood pressure & genetic heart problems. This could be very serious & I hope this caller & her bf advocate for this man.

I've only just started listening to the pod so I'm only at the first problem but I've had something similar to the first caller's boyfriend's dad's feet issue! My toes are also swelling and red and itchy constantly and they also kept getting blisters and scabs even though some days I was literally just walking around my living space in socks. I went to see a doctor and he said it was something called impetigo(?) and was sort of a region-specific allergic reaction (?) which made my skin on my feet weak and easily irritated. The redness, itchiness and swelling were the signs of infection after the weaker skin barrier had been worn through or got some kind of opening in it (probably the blisters and scabs I got). (This might not be accurate it was a while ago and I'm not in the medical field) But basically my doctor gave me some allergy meds and antibiotics (I think) to bring the swelling down, and told me to moisturise my entire foot very thoroughly with good quality moisturisers from brands like cetaphil and this has helped my own personal issue. Again idk if the caller's bf's dad has the same problem, he should definitely see a doctor who can help him out properly but I thought I would share because I remember being really confused when it happened to me but also kind of laughing it off as like, it's just my feet, whatever yknow? God this got long whoops
