Still watching the video so not sure if he’s going to catch this but there are multiple moments where you see Pattinson as Batman working to control his breath and anger after the beat downs. So the slow walk feels intentional to maintain his energy and pace so that he’s prepared to unleash when he needs to.

Personally this is my favorite live action Batman iteration yet. One of the coolest aspects imo is that you can take almost any frame from it, and it would work as a comic panel. The whole vibe feels like it's right out of some comics, while also being its own unique take. I love how gritty everything feels compared to Nolans more "clean visuals" for lack of a better term. The whole film just has its own personality and doesn't feel like just another high budget super hero flick. There's also such an obvious respect for the source material that was really well researched and implemented here. It clearly wasnt one of those cases where they blatantly disrespected it like some previous directors and actors have.

Great breakdown yet again. Love the commitment to the costume. On a rewatch today it dawned on me that perhaps the reason The Riddler made Colton crash into the funeral was because he saw Bruce Wayne in the crowd and wanted to take his shot. Also I got a major Blues Brothers vibe when all the GCPD cops start piling out the doors chasing Batman through the precinct.

I really love when Batman gets on the ledge of the top of the police station, he looks a little scared, which I think would be a natural reaction. It also shows Batman isn't fearless yet. I always had a super small issue with Bale standing on tall buildings like it ain't shit

When Batman fights with Catwoman in the Mayor's house, the music is very reminiscent of the Jaws theme, which increases in tempo and volume until Batman catches his prey. The name of the shark puppet in Jaws is called Bruce.

its fairly well established in most comics that, whenever the Riddler inevitably figures out batman's identity, he refuses to reveal it. batmans identity is one of the greatest riddles of all, and what the point of a riddle if you give away the answer.

I still think there is a high probability that the drops are a hint involving Scarecrow. And he fits this world Matt Reeves has created perfectly. That’s why I hope we also get Harvey Dent/Two Face and Thomas Elliott/Hush. Both of those guys have stories connected to Bruce and Batman plus Scarecrow is great because like Joker he’s just a Psychopath who loves to do evil twisted things. There is no agenda like so many of the others and that makes Crane a perfect choice. Black Mask going toe to toe with Penguin is a great idea too. I still want a female villain and I think Poison Ivy can work without the meta part of her. Although that’s what makes her so great to watch and read about.

For a female villain i think sofia falcone or Jane doe would work better than ivy. Though they'd have to dial Jane doe back a bit, as in the comics she murders people and then wears their skin as clothing to assume their identities.

Riddler probably didn’t go after Bruce personally because he could not. Bruce had almost never gone out in public and most of his time outside was at night he traveled underground. So Riddler was never able to predict his movements nor find a way to get him alone.

I think Riddler didn't try and kill Bruce personally because he knew that getting Bruce alone wasn't easy. Bruce was a recluse for the most part. He knew how to get into the Mayor's house, he knew how easy it could be to get to the DA, he knew the commissioner worked out alone late at night. Getting to Bruce isn't as easy. Getting into Wayne Manor would be hard and you'd have to deal with Alfred and Dory and that could be complicated. So ending Bruce a bomb is the easier, more surefire way to kill him.

I've not seen anyone point out that, in a close up of his boots, Riddler retrieves the first murder weapon by stepping into focus. Then the shot is repeated exactly when Batman spots the blood on the floor at the crime scene. He literally walks in Riddler's footsteps.

Great video! I think Robinson Bridge is a actually a nod to Jerry Robinson though, not Holly, as the map of Gotham is filled with tributes to famous Batman creators (Miller harbor, Dixon dock, Finger river, etc.). I feel like Lee Bermejo’s Batman design played a role in the costume inspiration as well! Anyway, so much good stuff here, I’m looking forward to spotting Riddler creeping about in the background on my next rewatch! Haha.

So here's the absolute facts that we know: - It all takes place within a 7 Day Period (October 31 - November 6) - Night 1/Day 2 Starts from the beginning of the film, to the point when Alfred is helping Bruce solve the code, while Bruce eats Blueberries, right before the cut where they figure out "Drive" (We don't know exactly what time of day the "Drive" scene takes place, assumably that night which is Night 2.) - Night 6/Day 7 Starts from when Bruce talks to Alfred at the hospital about Falcone and ends the morning of when Batman is helping the citizens in broad daylight. Things I'm not sure of: - Does the funeral scene take place on Day 3 or 4? - Where are the other exact cutoff points for the other days. Hope this helps out a bit. Lmk if you might need more notes. I basically took thorough notes on my last viewing while I was in the theater.

Vengeance, I mean, Paul, this is the only 27-minute video I can watch on KZbin; first, because it’s about The Batman, and second, because it’s from this channel. Great breakdown and bits, as usual. Some other people might’ve mentioned this already, but I need to say it.
