Yes, for a blended family to function, it’s very important that the new partners do not try to assume the parent role. Just take up the role of a respected friend and the kids will eventually accord you a position. Children in blended families are very sceptical at first because the have been through loss( separation of parents) before, so you really have to be understanding of their sentiments. Ps- i am really happy for them.
