Hi Crawford I'd of used ditching bucket in the road,put a pipe in the road place slate or flat stones around end of pipe field side then some clean pipe bedding over the flat stones water soud filter through backfill pipe wit pipe bedding to protect pipe that's how I'd do it mate

Crawford you need to use the art of water divining! (Some call it Dowsing). Back in the day when I was about 16, I was working with an old Irish drainer on the farm who used water divining rods all the time and he was never wrong. (A couple of equal lengths of fence wire with a right angle bend will do). Over time I was able to do it and have found water lines, sewer pipes, drainage pipes and cables and never got it wrong. They say that it only works for certain people, but I think its more about your technique of holding the rods. I would also say get yourself a small bucket with no teeth, just a flat blade for doing exploration holes. For someone who had never been fully taught to operate an excavator, I think you do great.

Both my husband and I can dowse, most people can to one degree or another then there’s the ones where absolutely nothing happens and they think you are cheating. It’s weird to watch the rods moving and know you aren’t making it happen. We use an old metal coat hanger cut into two pieces with right angle bends
