3:30 - NGL, I'd have loved to see you take both jobs to the harbour at once, running above 500 metres of 'splodey boys. I actuall wonder now: Does DV model their splashy behaviour? You know I don't run cargo, but even I've been taught, should I ever in my career pull tank cars, to remember that they'll just push you around after you've supposedly stopped, gladly moving the locomotive a car length or two in whatever direction they like, including past the signal you just stopped at. 5:00 - Early in the morning, meaning 9 o'clock: Yep, feel you. My workplace happiness has DRASTICALLY increased since we got a system where we can input our preferences instead of having to trade shifts with one another. I very rarely get up before around 10 am and virtually never before 8 am. Maybe twice a month. 6:25 - Given the European setting and all the fun details in loco maintenance - I think it'd be a nice addition if you'd have to clean out the smoke stack every now and then as well :D 11:20 - Yes! Was my very first role play character, a Ferengi. But Quark (the original spelling) means literally curd and figuratively bulls…inus in German, so I spelled the name phonetically xD 11:45 - Thank you, I'm really happy you do enjoy and appreciate them! I'll add for others that I did ask in private if it's really okay and not too much, I didn't want to bludgeon the birb man with my comments 😅 12:05 - By International Union of Railway standards, it is a derailment, so you know my vote =P 14:25 - Over here, the destination code mode is rather uncommon. Some systems do have it, but most don't for safety reasons: There is no interlocking in the sense the railway has with signal boxes. Points are set by the driver while signals usually just run together with the rest of the traffic lights at the crossing and don't even care for the points. With destination based points setting you risk the driver expecting a different setting to the actual one. If they don't notice the points are set otherwise than they suppose, they'll observe the wrong signal. They might depart on "free to the right" while the points are set to the left and lead them into oncoming traffic, even another tram. So to make sure drivers are always aware where they're going and worst case might take a wrong turn in a safe way, most tram systems decided to not use destination codes. Note I'm talking as an interested layman here. By German jurisdiction, trams are road traffic participants, so basically speaking a really weird car, and have nothing to do with railway traffic. And while I'm an experienced train driver, I don't even have a (car) driver's license, so … 🤣 16:50 - I'll add that over here the independent brake (which play a lot less of a role over here and is "unsecure" as in not re-filling in case of leaks etc.) does not cut out with the brake stand. In more classical layouts it just always works, in more modern layouts it might or might not (depends on the class) cut out when the corresponding cab is deactivated. 17:50 - Wild guess without American knowledge apart from what you've taught me, but I'd rather guess it's a peculiarity of the museum because you're basically never double heading to my knowledge. The cutting out thing is mostly to make sure you don't end up with several brake stands cut in within a consist. Even with all the differences between our brake systems, the basic principle is the same, so I'd guess you don't want multiple brake stands cut in with American air brakes either. 28:10 - You generally do tend to have a very digital operation style in most train games =P Especially in Railroader 🤔 Though yes, DV usually gets your good RL habits out. 46:20 - That was anticlimactic, though I'm glad given the modding. 49:50 - Wonder how many lamps got lost now. 52:15 - I did hope the work for modding would decrease the recklessness =P Fun episode, as always =) Also, suggestion @zeibach9075 - given the locale of the game and the existing harbour, how about a train ferry to Italy, where the player has to deliver cars on time before the ferry departs? xD
@Hyce777Күн бұрын
The independent doesn't cutout over here either. We have doubleheaded at the museum, but it's few and far between. :D Interesting to hear about the tram setups; our TWC requests are tied into the signalling system. So, the points only move if the logic, and the signals, allow for it, and the signal will display the corresponding aspect for the movement.

@10:50 It's on our list to change the switch setter gadget to be relative to the end of the train, rather than the locomotive's current position. @16:30 I'm glad to know that having the brake valve default to cut out is correct to reality. But the truth is that the default was selected to maximize player interaction and more importantly the opportunity for entertaining player errors. The game isn't called "Safe and Sane Railroading Valley," after all. Thanks for providing a lovely instance of said entertaining player error, BTW. ;) @22:20 I love the lubricator ratcheting action. @23:20 We also increased the maximum throttle flow, so you should be able to sustain BP in the chest at higher speed and cutoff now. @23:50 I haven't found all my demonstrator locos, so you're not alone! @36:50 I don't know if this is historical practice, but I often find myself running full cutoff and a few notches of regulator to use steam as *inefficiently* as possible, just to draft the fire without picking up too much undesired speed. @40:00 CALLED IT. @46:20 Crownsheet needs to reach 600 C for it to fail. The switch setter is honestly a lifesaver. Even if I don't actively use it to throw switches, it's caught a couple errant throws I've made while setting up my route and just great to confirm on the go! On a side note, you can use the sticky tape patches to paste your route map or station book or anything else really to basically anywhere and just have it there to poke at as you're going, so you don't have to pull it out of your inventory! I somehow found all of the museum engines really fast. The de2 was at the steel mill, the de6 was conveniently at city south, the dh4 is marooned at the harbor, the dm3 is at least on the track up at Iron mine west, the 282 was at the refinery weirdly enough, and the 060 is still up at the food factory. At around 13:00 you talk about the way modern transit controls switches. Back in the olden days the way that it worked is there was a contactor in the overhead that if you pulled power through it would throw the switch to the non normal direction and if you coasted it would throw to the normal direction.

The addition of the chest simulation feels really weird. It makes the engine easier to start on a hill since you can build pressure before letting off the brakes, but it makes the engine feel unresponsive. The train will continue to accelerate for a second after you close the throttle at high pressure or low load. It does help make understanding when to use more or less johnson bar much easier though. You get real time feedback on how well you are using steam.

Toronto Streetcars have what is called "Necessary Action" shortened to N/A for switches at intersections where they switch to a different street from a line. There's a button the operator presses to throw the switch, if it isn't pressed and the switch is switched it flips back. It's been around for decades. The old PCC cars had it. If you're in Toronto and see signs at streetcar intersections above the track that says N/A that is what it is for.

The demonstrator (museum) engines can be found at set spawn locations at every station except for the Military Base and having one spot between CW and OWC. The music starting at the beginning of the video made my brain autocorrect it to a bunch of italian meme songs combined before it corrected itself back to the this mortal plane of existence we call reality, where we suffer not being able to see steam choo choo everywhere

Not all trams in Germany have the route system you described. For example, in Kassel, there are still positions the dispatchers set the course for the tram.

@@AndreEckert Unfortunately, we have beautiful old trams that are not ready to run in the technology museum. The KVG still has three N8Cs, but they are parked due to accidents/rust damage.

Hey Hyce, I have looked online and my own saves and have a pretty good idea of most of museum train locations. HB: I’ve heard that they can be by the G1S and on the other end of the F yard closer to the way to get the slug. MF: either side of the roundhouse. CW: look in the river that’s where I found an 060 IME: behind a container or pile of metal by A1S FM A2S I believe. It’s one of the A lines. OR: A6S GF: under one of the two roofs housing scrap. Other side of wall by passenger platform. Little lake as seen in video for build 99 CMS: other side of station building (info wasn’t descriptive) CP: A6S and either this or OR can have one under an awning. FF: between buildings behind the train spawns by the turntable. SM: by the service shed or A4S. Most you do have to go into the yard and look around, but these have been what I’ve seen most of and have found myself. Basically they’ll always be in the location or just slightly outside. Good luck hunting.

Hey Hyce, I have found 3 of the locomotives and they were all in the stations right next to the track like they just heard "Sliiiide to the left!". 2 of them were in City South. They seem to be pretty easy to see and only in stations. I don't think you can find them beyond the bounds of the stations, there are apparently 27 places they can spawn.

I found the DE6, DE2 and S282 easily, then the other three were a pain in my ass. Finally found one of them and found the other two at the same time. Also, find Olaf's key, makes doing museum stuff so much easier.

So far, I have found most of the museum locomotives. I know they are placed differently per player but here is where I found mine. One was at the harbor by the Passenger platforms, one was at coal mine south by track A2L, another was at the food factory by the service building, one was at the goods factory by track A2S, and the final one was at the coal power plant neer track A6s. Again, I know the locomotives are placed differently per player, but hopefully, this helps with the searching.

Just be aware if your not already that wireless MU causes cable MU to stop working. Although the fact wireless MU has unlimited range could be good for mass ES&Ding. Just set up a load of MU compatible locos with the 'splody Bois and set them all going for the ultimate random kenosha moment. Consider it an experiment do trains still explode if no one is watching.

I found 2 locomotives and the DE2 was not one of them. And I used that turntable in the Harber all the time to turn around my choo choo.

1:00:30for any reason , the buttons for the turn table in the museum are working only close to the entrance track. I hope they will fix it to be able to control the turn table from anywhere in it's area , having to look from the entrance where it needs to be positioned it's quite hard.😅
