Everyone told me not to go to La 42 - El Capotillo, the most notorious and dangerous hood in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. Every creator I’ve seen visiting this place has done it with a guide-but I decided to go completely alone. No fixer, no guide, just trusting the vibe, the people, and the raw energy of the hood.
What followed was one of the craziest experiences of my life as a travel blogger. From unexpected encounters to wild moments, I embraced the chaos and went with the flow…the rest is history ..

Once video is up you know he made it . Scary , yes . But his body guards WERE MORAL in this place. People put them down BUT, if soo bad they would have just taken him quickly for his money OR they think he is streaming or something else where THEY are in danger if get crazy . The biggest thing as well like in all situations is DONT ACT LIKE PREY , predators can see ANY sliver of fear and your toast . His ability to be BRAVE + RESPECTFUL + CANDID & HONEST and his sense of humor & playfulness PLUS people wanting to be PART of something all add up to this ability to MOVE in a place like this as though its normal . Also , he is PREPARED and knows there is a possibility he just has to turn over his money and deal with it , hoping for no violence . Calculated risks . You SHOW PEOPLE , even scary ones or shifty that you respect them and do not look down your nose you have better chance . He made SURE to compliment the men for their status , and the " work " they were doing which was real ( time is money ) . Ultimately though COFIDENCE ..... WITHOUT flexing like your such a bad ass has a bad ass effect , people who are predatory are LEARY of people not scared when they should be , something tells them, maybe IAM missing something , too comfortable to not be dangerous in some way or the one running a work . I have walked through places where I am the only white person that people would not go .Admittedly younger and 220 lbs at 5 8 lean so not a monster but not frail . When I walked around head up people were EXTRA NICE to me or AVOIDED ME . The idea is this is either a CRAZY ASS WHITEBOY who IS dangerous , knows Dangerous people or a COP or ALL 3 , but certainly a cop crosses mind . Admittedly this is mid day , night time alone Im not going there . But ACTING and FEELING calm ( being nervous does not help once in situation ) just throws people off . On some level people DO RESPECT YOU when you respect them , their customs , their hood and you are not seeing yourself ABOVE them and such , people always feel safer to attack somebody who seems afraid and will not fight back and at least take one person or get a lick and cause harm . Its SAD , but also if they take a white man out / kill or hurt bad it will likely bring attention to the place they are left alone to police themselves, that is sad but true , don't shit where you eat . He is STILL NUTS , STILL BRAVE etc but it is a skill set and phenomenon of human behaviour to stay calm and be a certain way that does not trigger others who may have INSTINCTS that are aggressive to be calm , I don't like comparing humans to wild or even domestic animals but any pro animal handler understands this and knows we as humans are animals on some level and knows how this works . Not to say that aggression to be defensive is never needed but he is using some JEDI shit that does work often , when it doesn't the tiger, leapord or other feirce animal snatches you , rag dolls you and you have problems or no more problems . Not a tough looking man but he is taller then everybody as well which gets some Xtra respect or stature . But again , he is nuts and I wouldn't have done this in my absolute prime physical state and most daring youthful feeling of never gonna die .

As much as I know and experienced I have, I of course still hope their are no outlier situations with individuals who sort of break the rules of these principles and you stay safe but I also know you are good with your people skills which is both innate as well as learned AND TESTED. I've lived/grew up in the hood but then moved to a new city in the "rich" area when I started middle school and I 100% agree that I enjoyed living in the hood as opposed to the "rich" area even tho I had more "materialistic" things.
